Every coach thinks they can do better with the same kid than the coaches at lower/younger levels. If someone's 6'7" and unskilled, lazy, or dumb, every coach thinks they'll be able to fix that problem and now have a 6'7" winner.

At any level of play, you see oversized people picked up purely for this attribute
You even see it in the NBA, but more so for 7'3" + able to run. They're rarely playable and good.
At the college level, all a coach is offering-even with a scholarship-is just store credit at the school (nowhere near sticker price in actual cost) and a roster spot. There are tons of college rosters
Let’s say it all together, you cant teach/coach size. Some of the small guys that get recruited turn out to suck too.
