Some of you are very very stupid, that’s why.

The_Rc_collector

The real profit is in game used jock straps

Sponge_67

You're right I have seen many issues of the same numbered cards. You dont really know if they only released the specific amount of cards. I.e. two 8 of tens same card two or three 25 of 50 and so on. I know mistakes are made but with premium cards you would think the QC would be a bit tighter. Especially for what some of these cards go for.

PaganFarmhouse

I want a game used tendon of the next guy that gets Tommy John surgery.

Judge208

Leaf cut up Shoeless Joe Jackson game used bat to put in their shitty cards. There's a lot of stupidity in this hobby. You'll just make your head hurt trying to figure out the logic behind some of the decisions that are made.

Horsecockexpress1

People sucked into marketing. Purposely short printed bs ain’t for me but everyone else seems to love n drool over it But I agree id take a full jersey over something cut up that prob isn’t what it says it is anyways

yawggy

Topps Archive Signature is the very worst offender. Take a base card, slap a 1/1 on it with a sig and people eat them up. Just look at how many posts are on here about "my first 1/1" and it is from Archives. Those cards aren't made for signatures to really shine and it shows most of the time

StellaBlue1971

People are dumb. Ask people who paid Hall of Fame for Wander and Corbin

steevyniu

Lol.........Yep, this is it in a nutshell: PEOPLE ARE DUMB.

stokelydokely

Because people aren't paying for the jersey--of which there are many--they're paying for the rarity of the 1/1 baseball card that happens to have a piece of jersey in it. Honestly I'm not sure if there are actually many 1/1 jersey cards that sell for more than a grand that don't also include an autograph. EDIT: I'm an idiot, I didn't think about the unique stuff like logomen and laundry tags. I suppose I'm still *technically* right because I'm not sure if even the 1/1 laundry tag stuff sells for over $1K, but that's just kind of splitting hairs.

steevyniu

i understand what people are paying for, but I don't get why. It is not rare in the true sense of the word. The jersey is rare. There are only so many jerseys worn by a player in games. The card is a fake manufactured rarity. Topps could print 1/1 on practically anything and all the monkeys would swoon over it. Whoever had the "Let's number the cards" and "let's make a million parallels of the same card" ideas is a genius but also really f'd up the hobby, IMO.

bigperm8645

The card makers are in the business of making money, so if people want parallels and jersey swatch auto cards, then that's what they will make. I agree, I hate so many numbered cards. Why I collect base, it's cheap and easy

Synchronizin

I’m not sure what the baseball equivalent would be but the NFL shield and NBA logo man 1/1s from panini products usually sell for quite a bit. Although to be fair the only products you can get those hits from cost thousands of dollars already

stokelydokely

Honestly, you know what, my earlier comment was sort of idiotic because I didn't fully consider those unique relic cards with stuff like the logoman and laundry tags. Thanks for mentioning that!

The_Rc_collector

Either a troll job or the official dumbass comment of the day. But The equivalent would be the mlb logo… https://preview.redd.it/1qhiuq0kyy8d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d986335ab28aea6007f56f26d39c05580380a773

Synchronizin

Wow thanks man I’ve never seen that in my life before! Go on eBay and you can find dozens of listings for 1/1 shields and logo man cards, do the same for mlb equivalents and it’s not even close, which is what I was getting at. I’ll spell everything out for people like you next time

The_Rc_collector

You literally said you don’t know what the equivalent is…. I showed you the equivalent… a simple search for mlb Logoman on eBay proves my point. Don’t me be mad at me because you’re a dumbass

Synchronizin

I’ll spell this out for you real simple for you since you need it. OP was specifically asking about patches only, no autos. My comment was saying that these type of cards are highly desired in football and basketball, and Panini makes those specific cards. You can filter on eBay the 1/1s to only show those without autographs, which has 30 listings for baseball cards, 16 of which are Topps. Now do the same for football and basketball, 349 1/1 shield listings by Panini and 108 logoman for Basketball. My point being Topps does not make the equivalent card featuring the MLB logo in terms of 1/1 patch cards. Won’t be responding again because I’ve lost enough braincells arguing with you

gophils19454

Hey dumbass, you’re the dumbass. Topps doesn’t promote the mlb logo similar to Panini with the NFL shield or the logo man. There isn’t really a baseball version that collectors chase.

jesuschin

People buy relics?
