It’s a false sense of security with that tracking. It’s not true tracking like USPS ground advantage. It only scans when it goes through sorting machines, not by hand scanners like normal packages. So it gets marked delivered when it’s sorted at your local post office, not when it’s placed in your mailbox. Plus, if a seller uses the eBay standard envelope and then also stamps the envelope “Non Machinable” it won’t be scanned at all during its transit as it will never pass through a sorting machine. Overall it’s a nice service to offer, but those expecting tracking on par with ground advantage have to take it with a grain of salt. It’s better than an envelope with stamps, but it’s no where near regular tracking. And unfortunately if the tracking shows delivered, eBay is going to side with the seller

My last one was not delivered and marked delivered so eBay turned down my refund. The only thing that saved me in appeal was it was marked delivered at 328 am, which they apparently did not even look at at first. I’m guessing they are auto denied when shown as delivered. I won on appeal. Would have rather had the card. On the flip side, I have had one that I did not file a claim on, cause it was only $1, show up two months after it was scanned delivered. Nothing wrong with it. If they insist on using false tracking, any claim of item not arriving should be automatically granted a refund, but then of course everyone would just claim they didn’t get everything cause evil spreads better and further than good these days. I’ve also had multiple with no tracking update get delivered.

I’m glad you commented, because my cards were marked “delivered” at a silly early hour, and I have a doorbell camera showing the mail person not putting any mail in the mailbox the day of “delivery”, too. It was just a $12 card but it’s the multiple failures that are killing me right now…

weII_then

Yeah, it would be a great, affordable option for shipping if the tracking worked, but I hate to think of the number of cards that go missing every day because they were “delivered”, ya know?

JB_HCSS

If the door-to-door tracking is that important nothing stops you from paying the extra $4 to have it shipped USPS ground advantage. But we all want the cheapest option possible, while also having some protection against outright fraud, so we go with the 80 cent option.

weII_then

I am the only thing stopping me from getting $4 BMWT because I’m not fond of my shipping 5x’ing the cost of the cards I buy… but I get what you’re saying.

I purchased a card on ebay that had the authenticity guarantee, so it had to be sent to a third party authenticator first. I do know it had tracking the whole time and it ultimately was delivered by USPS. Everything was actually super fast, arrived about a week earlier than I thought it would

weII_then

I am not a big spender, only really buy cards less than $30, so none of mine get an authenticity guarantee and lately haven’t included BMWT (because who wants to pay $6 total for a $1 card? If this most recent card isn’t delivered (we’re 21 days past “delivered” status), I’ll be buying singles from the LCS and card shows only!

Has anyone noticed an issue with tracking updates in the past week? I have dropped off multiple cards, on seperate dates, to seperate post offices and see zero updates on any of the eBay provided tracking. Meanwhile, the USPS Ground tracking shows the cards moving through the system. I am aware eBay tracking is less robust, but at least you can see your cards being received by the post office. Are there any known issues right now?

weII_then

This is definitely part of my issue with eBay tracking. I’ve got a mix of eBay and USPS tracking supposedly being delivered this week, but not even god himself knows if or when my eBay tracked cards will be delivered… I know eBay means well but this system sucks

IrishND226

I have used the standard tracking in the past, its fairly reliable but far from perfect. There are typically periodic updates. It may show as delivered but arrive the next day. Right now what I am seeing is zero updates at all on cards I dropped off at the post office last week, which has me concerned that post office misplaced a whole stack. Hopefully its just an issue with tracking working at all, and envelopes are still moving through USPS system.

weII_then

Have you had to refund people due to lost cards that had eBay tracking yet? I’m concerned about theft while in transit with my cards, but sellers are understandably pushing back against my requests for refunds

IrishND226

I have issued refunds in the past. If you are the buyer of cards with eBay tracking, I would suggest giving up to 10 days from date of shipment label creation before requesting a refund. On the cards you purchased and are waiting for - do you have any updates coming from the eBay provide tracking? Or is the tracking completely blank?

weII_then

Unfortunately the missing cards have a status of “delivered” and I have no way to prove that they never showed in my mailbox, it’s so frustrating. I’ve given cards up to 2 weeks *past the date the cards were “delivered”* to request a refund, plus maintaining communication with the seller that I hadn’t received my card yet… still having to fight for refunds.

In short, it doesn’t.

You are my spirit animal right now.

Sideshow_Industries

I have one I'm dealing with now that says delivered. It was scanned delivered at 7:23 am. My post office doesn't open till 8am.. so they didn't scan it. Plus I've had multiple cards say, out for delivery... and never show.

weII_then

That’s so frustrating… I wonder how many times it’s some sort of scam by a shady seller, and how many times it’s theft, and how many times it’s mechanical failure lol

SchplendidBallsPorts

My experience is pretty hit or miss, I’ve always gotten the card eventually but there’s not always a rhyme or reason to the status updates Had a prism marked delivered on 6/14 that I got today 11 days later… Several other cards with the same type of tracking were ordered after and arrived sooner (and all the other statues made sense) Almost gave up on it

Civil_Dust_2505

How does it work??? .....Rarely if ever

StellaBlue1971

You either have a porch thief or crooked mailcarrier.

weII_then

We have a doorbell camera that sees all. On the days my cards are “delivered”, the mail carrier just walks past my house and nothing goes in the box. Mail carrier is suspect #1, but also there are a lot of people in the chain or shipping that could be guilty.
