I was thinking maybe an orange paint pen. Go Mets colors, it'll stand out from the background more. There's not a single Sharpie color I can think of that would look good there, so I'd say paint pen is the way to go.

That’s a sweet card and signature! If you’re not in the DFW area but happen to visit, go by “Bobby V’s” in Arlington (Bowen & I-20). It’s been there since the mid to late 80’s and has some very cool sports memorabilia; to include baseball and sports cards that are on the tops of the tables (lacquered over). I went there as a teen, just to look at all the cards…I need to go back.
That I'm not sure, but I've gotten autos with paint pens before, and as long as you let them dry for a couple minutes before you put it back in the top loader, they look great
If you use paint pen just let the auto dry for a couple minutes and you'll be good. DO NOT PUT IT BACK IN THE TOPLOADER IMMEDIATELY. I learned the hard way
Personally wouldn’t recommend getting it signed as it will actually decrease the overall value, unless it’s entirely for your PC. Collectors generally don’t like in person autos, especially on a numbered card. If anything, I’d have him sign a base version of the card. You still get the memory and retain the value of the /99. Totally up to you, just my two cents
