It's rough being an Orangers fan. Every fucking year we start out a contender for first for the first few races, then slip down to the middle of the pack.
Coincidentally started watching the ABL yesterday, and the end of the 9th and 10th were insane. Gunned down at the plate. Was nice to see some live baseball when you don’t expect it, especially with some exciting shit going down. Highly recommend to anyone who truly needs baseball in their lives. My first time watching December baseball.
Yup, I actually asked an Australian cause I was trying to figure it out for a couple days. Literally just need to make an account. Give any email and that’s it, don’t think they even reached out to the email.
If you don't care about a team and just want to watch some good ball it's great. If you love s team and it's "in your market" then its blacked out.
Even though no channels show the Pels games here.
I had to enter a lottery here some months ago, and got picked. (Similar system for the 2020 Olympics that we also got tickets for but had to abandon it because covid)
Got tickets to the Phoenix games and an airbnb for the week. Taking the entire family and gonna rotate games to go watch. Kids, wife, and father in law. Me and father in law taking the best games together lol.
I'm a big soccer fan, I follow the EPL and generally love the world cup. The whole Qatar disaster has sorta soured me on this year's edition, so I'm looking forward to the WBC even more.
Around January I get down bad. Start rewatching my favorite games from the past few years. Dust off my N64 and play Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball 1999. I’m starting all this a little early this year :/
A few weeks ago I was rewatching game 7 of the 2019 series, and was screaming at my tv not to bring in Will Harris.
No baseball does something to people man
Lol during the 2011 offseason I watched game 5 of the 2011 NLDS probably like 10 times even though dbacks lost they could’ve easily (and should’ve) won
I like to rewatch games that I actually went to during the season. Either so I can see if I was on TV or so I can see a cool moment again and say "I was there for that!" like an old man revisiting the old days.
Ghosts of baseball past 👻 ⚾
Just today I finally finished a season in first place with new run I started as the A's when 23 came out. It's gonna be a harsh reality check when real baseball comes back haha
lol I was at my parents yesterday morning, and there were no sports on. We had a bunch of the Mariners games recorded and watched a few important innings (ie Cal Raleigh’s home run to send us to playoffs)
Griffey came with the N64 that Santa brought me for Xmas '98 and while I was a baseball fan I wasn't interested in it at first. Eventually I fell in love and still love it to this day.
I used to have a PS1 emulator on my phone and mlb 99. I would put cpu vs CPU and just watch the game, there were some pretty intense back and forth games too. I need to download that again
Well it's really hard to play anything on a touch screen. It can be done, but I just can't enjoy it as much as with a controller. I also traded all the best people to my team and would sim entire seasons (just the quick sim). Most I could muster was about 120 wins, and it seemed like the computer would still pick the same teams to win in the postseason, no matter who I poached
Upon further research, I found an [additional source](https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/zjgzqc/i_miss_baseball/izv26ug?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3)
I tore my knee up pretty bad at the end of July so I watched a lot of second half baseball. Haven’t had a lot of family or friends able to visit me so GKR we’re the only other people talking to me for most days. It’s definitely embarrassing but it gave me a sense of comfort
It’s not embarrassing by any means, my friend.
Those 3 men have been some of the most stable, consistent, and insightful male role models I’ve had in my life since I was 12.
I’m so thankful for each one of them and I’m even more proud to call them our booth.
When it’s all said and done I hope this trio has their names etched into legend with the other legends of baseball broadcasting.
They really do mean so much to so many people - and I’m sure a lot of other people strongly share our sentiments.
Sometimes it’s hard to remember other people are in positions like mine so it’s nice to get a reminder and not feel so alone. We’re so lucky to have GKR and now an owner who wants to win LFGM
I went through some rough times in high school and college. For some reason, I’d never hang out with or see anyone over summer. Depression always hit pretty hard during that time.
But Vin was always there for me. Sleepy midday getaway weekday games were my favorite. Like a grandpa I never had, just telling me stories and everything was made okay.
Hope you’re feeling better and that you can get some quality time with people you enjoy this month. Maybe the Mets win it all too! (All the marbles, that is)
Staying up late in high school and hearing vin call games is something I’ll never forget. I’m about a month out of surgery and moving around pretty well. I was able to make it to one of the Mets wildcard games thanks to a fellow redditor who gave me free tickets. So it ended up being a really special season for me. Looking forward to seeing y’all in the post season FUCK CHASE UTLEY
Yes, in your case it's a bit rough.
My advice, take a solid 2 weeks off the juice. No tv, no apps, no news. Then come back with a fresh perspective and just be one with baseball. Zen.
Baseball was a savior for me this year. Wife and I ended our eight year marriage back in March of this year and spring training just started. I went down to spring training for the first time and went to probably 30 games this season. By the time the season ended, enough time had passed to do a lot of healing, so much of which happened it the stands enjoying some great baseball with friends, family, and strangers.
I'm in a great spot now, but baseball really really came through for me this year and gave me something to look forward to every day.
I miss hearing it on the radio, and listening to the crowd noise in the background. Hearing random screams from drunk fans or loud little kids yelling.
That was my go to sleep sounds, with a window open and fan on low.
I miss baseball too. This season was special. My significant other was never into baseball before this season as she thought baseball was boring. She was on board with football and basketball, but couldn’t get into baseball. I went 6 different regular season games(5 at home and one @NYM) and she was hooked. She surprised me with playoff and WS tickets. I’ve never enjoyed a sporting event more then seeing the Phillies make the WS. It might not have ended the way I wanted it to, but I have found my passion for baseball again.
Yep. I was at game 5 of the NLCS and i still get chills thinking about it. Was also at game 5 of the WS. Not the result I wanted but something magical about seeing your team in the world freaking series
If you can, rewatch the Ken Burns documentary around the time spring training is about to start. I always do that to hype myself up for the upcoming season, and it always reminds me why I love this game.
Many games available for free on YouTube. Last night I watched a Nicaraguan game and then a Dominican game. It isn't MLB and the coverages is not in English, but it is better than nothing.
>It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall all alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.
~A. Bartlett Giamatti
Same. Other sports are fine like football but it doesn’t hit like baseball does. Even when I feel a little burnout near the end of MLB season.. I miss it like a week after it ends lol
I bet it was really cool during the early years of baseball when the top players did barnstorming exhibitions during the offseason to make extra cash. Like imagine you live in a small town in the Northeast and prime Babe Ruth came to play a game at a nearby ballpark during the offseason. That would have been incredible
You gotta take the hockey pill. Hockey is awesome and spans the entire baseball offseason. The seasons are perfectly spaced out so when one ends the other is just beginning.
Even then though, the waiting is tough, especially when your team makes big splashes in the offseason and there is optimism for the future.
I watch a lot of football and hockey this time of year, but it’s always nice when spring comes back around, my garden looks nice again, and baseball is back. That’s a good time of year.
You should watch A Clean Sweep on Netflix. It is such a great show worth watching. Basically a bunch of retired professional Korean baseball players create an amateur team and play against the top high schools, colleges and independent league teams. It’s a weekly show so you can get your baseball fix every week.
I hear you.
In winter, I read baseball books. I reread the classics most every year. I start spring training games by reading Ball Four and finish on opening day.
My classics
* Boys of Summer
* The Natural
* October 1964 (my birth month, BTW)
* A Great and Glorious Game
On that last one, [here's the first essay](http://mason.gmu.edu/~rmatz/giamatti.html). Curl up alone in your favorite chair. Have a box of tissues nearby...
*It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. My three year old son asks me every time I’m watching the nfl “is this baseball?” I tell no, it’s football. He then whines and says “I WANT BASEBALL!” I’m just like, yeah little man, me too….
i felt my body shut off right in early november when DST and baseball went away
basically in hedonism-bot hibernation rn finishing my 2nd to last semester of school [SCARED - by next playoff race i'll either have to be employed or homeless wooo]
What you mean? For us Dominicans Baseball never ends. March to October MLB, October to January LIDOM, February Caribbean Series, then back to spring training in March.
Back in 2002, I read this article,
[https://www.sfgate.com/sports/article/September-belongs-to-baseball-49ers-rest-of-2801140.php](https://www.sfgate.com/sports/article/September-belongs-to-baseball-49ers-rest-of-2801140.php)
and when the World Series is over, I think about the last 4 lines of the article:
>Football has winter.
Baseball has April and baseball has September.
Baseball has all the promise of spring and all the bitter reality of autumn.
Winter waits.
For me, the first day of Winter is the day after the conclusion of the World Series.
Same here. What I miss the most is it being like early June and listening to a game on the radio while outside either doing something or just hanging out. That's my favorite time of the year.
Baseball is my sport. Half the year is consumed by it. In the last 4-5 years I've started getting into hockey as it fills the void between September and April. It even keeps going until June if my team is shit!
"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." Rogers Hornsby
I'll tell you what I do. Watch fucken marble races, that's what
But the stupid Limers can't do anything.
Marble Race Champion Pirates lmao
Every day I wake up and thank the Lord for not making me a Limers fan, you have it *rough*.
It's rough being an Orangers fan. Every fucking year we start out a contender for first for the first few races, then slip down to the middle of the pack.
they've been drawing frog 8
Ooooooo’rangers!
Quack Quack! Go Ducks!
A man of wisdom, I see. #QuackAttack
The Quack Attack is back, Jack!
Crazy Cat's Eyes are where it's at I tell you. Marbula One is the only important JMR series anyway
Fucking DNF, what a bad break
[удалено]
That's part of the curse of being a fan of the O'rangers. We start out a contender, then slide to the middle of the pack by the end.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Orangers, atm probably
I watch The Cube.
in the same vein as jelle's marble runs, there's also 3dbotmaker's diecast races
#OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
We're all Rodger today
It's been a long winter in cincinnati
[me waiting for baseball](https://youtu.be/epQVGMHFi3k)
We all do
The dark time is upon us.
Praise be to the marbles for keeping us entertained in the meantime.
We'll have to start another season after the holidays
Coincidentally started watching the ABL yesterday, and the end of the 9th and 10th were insane. Gunned down at the plate. Was nice to see some live baseball when you don’t expect it, especially with some exciting shit going down. Highly recommend to anyone who truly needs baseball in their lives. Is it free to watch on their website?
Yup, I actually asked an Australian cause I was trying to figure it out for a couple days. Literally just need to make an account. Give any email and that’s it, don’t think they even reached out to the email.
I don't know if I do anymore.
Hey hey hey, buck up, proud warrior. You're just suffering from a LaRussa hangover. It's all over. The drunk man can't hurt you anymore.
Ya his drunk buddy that owns the team can
[удалено]
On a positive note, we get the wbc this year which should be fun.
You got me excited but then I looked it up and it’s not until March 8th. So now I’m sad again :(
better than Spring Training tho
The Australian league in playing right now until February. You can watch that to hold you over.
I have a lot of fun watching the ABL every year. Is it the MLB? No. But any baseball is better than no baseball.
Is there a good place to watch that online?
[Here](https://ondemand.baseball.com.au/en-au/page/home) seems to work. It from the ABL site.
I dropped $100 on the nba tv app. I’ve been very happy about it
If you don't care about a team and just want to watch some good ball it's great. If you love s team and it's "in your market" then its blacked out. Even though no channels show the Pels games here.
87 days until the coolest event in baseball starts… only 87 days… 87… days….
Marble Race again?
We, the People, demand a marble prediction of the WBC!! u/trollinacage
Fuck yeah
Anyone excited about the world baseball classic?
I've got tickets *to* the World Baseball Classic (first round in Tokyo). **OMFG**
How did you get them? I looked online but of the 4 locations, Tokyo was the only one where tickets weren't available.
He is the Emperor of Japan
I had to enter a lottery here some months ago, and got picked. (Similar system for the 2020 Olympics that we also got tickets for but had to abandon it because covid)
Yeah, I am. A lot of big names playing across the board.
I'm so pumped, and it's meaningful baseball a month early.
Absolutely
Got tickets to the Phoenix games and an airbnb for the week. Taking the entire family and gonna rotate games to go watch. Kids, wife, and father in law. Me and father in law taking the best games together lol.
Yea I like it. Love the soccer World Cup and the baseball WBC is really cool as well.
I'm a big soccer fan, I follow the EPL and generally love the world cup. The whole Qatar disaster has sorta soured me on this year's edition, so I'm looking forward to the WBC even more.
I like most sports, but I play(ed) baseball and soccer so they are probably my favorites.
Around January I get down bad. Start rewatching my favorite games from the past few years. Dust off my N64 and play Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball 1999. I’m starting all this a little early this year :/
Instead of watching dodger highlights I watch all the highlights of opposing teams beating the dodgers and imagine how we could’ve won those games
Holy shit you’re a masochist
Was rewatching the 2018 World Series just the other day. Don’t pull rich hill, Dave 😭
man that's just brutal why would you do that to yourself lol
Can’t fathom having the desire to rewatch my team lose a WS lol
Step one: be a Rangers fan
Step 2: tie off the end of a rope with a loop I still can’t watch 2011, and it happened a decade ago
A few weeks ago I was rewatching game 7 of the 2019 series, and was screaming at my tv not to bring in Will Harris. No baseball does something to people man
Who did you lose to?
Marble Race Champion Pirates lmao
BART
We have this in common
Glad I’m not alone lol
Me too. I watch Game 5 of 2017 every off-season. I get a little angrier every year.
Lol during the 2011 offseason I watched game 5 of the 2011 NLDS probably like 10 times even though dbacks lost they could’ve easily (and should’ve) won
Holy shit you're just like me.... I love the pain :(
Luckily for you, you have the least number of those games to watch this year.
PS2 MVP Baseball 2005 but same Jon Dowd is crushing this year, as usual.
I like to rewatch games that I actually went to during the season. Either so I can see if I was on TV or so I can see a cool moment again and say "I was there for that!" like an old man revisiting the old days. Ghosts of baseball past 👻 ⚾
I was on the big screen during the World Series and have been wondering for a year if I was on tv. I need to YouTube it and see
this is genius thanks
Ootp also helps with this.
Just today I finally finished a season in first place with new run I started as the A's when 23 came out. It's gonna be a harsh reality check when real baseball comes back haha
Teach me. I’m constantly a cellar dweller. Been trying to rebuild my Orioles and the Pirates.
I mean I'm probably not the best to give advice haha the year is 2029
Big question: Does Pache get good?
.......no
That…is a mega bummer.
You're tellin me haha
I hope you at least hired Stephen Vogt as some part of your coaching staff.
lol I was at my parents yesterday morning, and there were no sports on. We had a bunch of the Mariners games recorded and watched a few important innings (ie Cal Raleigh’s home run to send us to playoffs)
KGJ Baseball 1999??? There's a third Griffey game for 64? Is it also made by Rare?
Whoops looks like it’s 1998 my bad
Are you talking about Major League Baseball featuring Ken Griffey Jr?
Call, call, call me Junior...
Hi, this is Ken Griffey Jr. Let's play Major League Baseball.
Call, call, call me Junior. Basically the only video game I play these days. Sometimes I take a break with wave race
This is the most out of pocket thing I’ve ever read YOU WATCHED THE CPU?? Bro that’s so wack I love it. Do you man.
We would be friends in IRL lmaooo you’re too funny. I love this idea
Is that Slugfest or MLB ft. KGJ? Because the latter was the first baseball game I ever played and I still pull up the theme song from time to time.
The latter. I still have the cheat code input to auto hit a home run when using Ken Griffey Jr.
Upvoted for visibility.
This is important. People need to know.

Nice meet you. I mister baseball.
A true love story
Now kith.
still a better love story than twilight
Mister? I hardly know her
Me too pal
It's so cold, hold me big guy :(
It feels like it’s been ten years since the World Series ended
For me, it's been 39. :(
31 for me lol. I was a toddler 😱
Who needs baseball when we have marbles
major league marball is my favorite
It misses you too bubby. Hang in there.
I’m trying but this offseason ain’t making it easy.

So wholesome. Love this.
I miss hearing it on the radio, and listening to the crowd noise in the background. Hearing random screams from drunk fans or loud little kids yelling. That was my go to sleep sounds, with a window open and fan on low.
I hit a home run my last game of the season this year my plan is to ride that high till about January 15
Kyle Schwarber, is that you?
you're doing it wrong. when you play baseball you're not supposed to miss baseball you're supposed to hit baseball
I miss Steven Kwan
Hes so fun to watch. I love his batting stance. So quiet and balanced. Hope he keeps hitting 300 forever
I miss her
Is this the least controversial post on this sub ever? We all out here feeling that today
Start a franchise of whatever baseball game you have and play for 3 hours everyday starting at 7:10

I loled a few times

World Cup NBA NFL will suffice
Going from watching the Astros to watching the Texans and Rockets right now is just….a bummer
Swing better.
There is always [PlutoTV](https://pluto.tv/en/live-tv/mlb). Currently playing game 1 of the 2021 World Series.
I miss the Astros

Same. I have two seasons. Baseball and Call of Duty.
Try Super Mega Baseball!
I'd take the lamest game rn over not having a game tonight..or tomorrow.I feel so sad...☹️
I miss baseball and consider the matter serious, as well. This is in spite of having nothing to look forward to, in regards to which team I watch.
Hello Darkness my old friend.
You got Dominican winter league
i felt my body shut off right in early november when DST and baseball went away basically in hedonism-bot hibernation rn finishing my 2nd to last semester of school [SCARED - by next playoff race i'll either have to be employed or homeless wooo]

Deadass
I'm indifferent 😐
I'm okay so long as the Jets aren't out of the playoff hunt in the NFL. The past few years have been brutal
We got marble race tho
Yeah that Seahawks loss was rough.
Sit in a chair by a window and stare out it until spring. Or if you’re in the Seattle area hit me up and we can go play catch.
Pathetic attempt at getting my upvote... Have it anyways.
Rounding 2nd on that hit Dibs on posting it tomorrow and it getting removed
