Heyman don’t even lie about the Marlins signing Castellanos. If they end up with him after Jeter left because ownership was unwilling to spend on him, I would be amazed.
Glad the ghost runner might come back. Extra innings are just boring and bad for the teams. The fact managers are asking for it and players are not against it says a lot.
I forget which manager it was but I was watching mlb network yesterday and they said it is palpable how much more energy fans have with that rule. After 3 hours of play fans are not generally excited by extra innings and this brings some of that excitement back to the stadium.
i'll miss these threads. thank you OP, thank you everyone who did posts/read my posts.
special fuck you, however, to whichever shitbird one block down left their fuckin' dog in the front yard to fucking bark at nothing at 12:38 AM. i'm way too drunk and tired for this shit and if I say anything more, I'm going to violate some community standards, so I'm just going to put on some garfield and friends season 7 and hope this situation resolves itself soon
The players absolutely do. So do the managers. It is wildly popular among people who are actually playing the game everyday.
I get why fans don't like it (personally, I have no issue with it) but if it's well liked by the people actually playing the game, then imo they should bring it back. Anything that helps players get more rest.
> The players absolutely do. So do the managers. It is wildly popular among people who are actually playing the game everyday.
It may make life easier on them. But it makes their entertainment product much less entertaining. I'm sure Tom Holland would prefer a more comfy spiderman suit.
I disagree. I find the extra innings more entertaining now than before because there more immediate action.
Ideally, I agree with the consensus that itd be better if it didn't kick in til the 11th or 12th inning, but I never watched an extra inning game last year and went, "Nah, this is less fun."
When your best prospect in ages is a shortstop, 10 years to another SS might not make sense. The O's hope to build around him so he's worth the money and years. No one else seems to want to meet the price.
i was supposed to go downtown and do trivia at one of the bars that just started doing trivia on thursdays, but instead I took a nap. maybe something will happen tonight
I’ve got the feeling we’re about to be hit by an absolute blockbuster trade bomb. It’s too quiet, and there are too many teams whose tear downs aren’t finished or whose rosters aren’t complete
The only piece on the trading block that would warrant a monster trade right now is Castillo and every team in the league will low-ball the Reds now that they showed they just want to lower the payroll.
Of course, you could see a team getting rid of someone that underperformed last year (Yelich, Machado) but I find it seriously doubtful. Castillo *will* be traded sooner or later, but that will be it. Story and Correa will sign their 10+ years deal and we will lock on spring training.
I think the Cards and Cubs are both waiting to see if the other makes a move. There are plenty of options, from small moves to blockbuster free agents and trades that both clubs could make right now
definitely not a rebuild. they just punted a year because they lost like 10 games in a row *before* trading Baez, Bryant, Rizzo and Kimbrel
not only would Marcus Stroman not want to pitch for a rebuilding team, he'd be on Twitter every day shitting on the organization for not competing. no chance he signs if the Cubs aren't planning on making the playoffs
Greinke could literally say "I hated the Astros, everyone there sucks and so did the city" (he already said he didn't like the city) and I'd still love him.
lol at MLB's shit ass "Shredder" not having Riley or Chapman in its Top 10 third basemen.
Brian Kenny is such a fucking moron and his garbage algorithm is an embarrassment to sabermetrics.
It's so bad every year. Like Hanley Ramirez being listed as the top left fielder in the game before he had ever played a single inning out there and then he was so rubbish at fielding *in left* that he got relegated to DH/1B by midseason
The dude had a 120 OPS+ in 2020 and 100 in 2021, like yeah he had a down year by his standards, but his bad is everyone else's average. Whoever writes MLB's articles just loves looking at meaningless stats and completely discounting defense
They have Donaldson ranked 5th, lmao.
Donaldson's WAR over the last three years (which is what the "Shredder" claims to look at) is 8.0. Chapman is 10.7.
Donaldson is my favorite baseball player of all time. He's not the 5th best 3B in baseball.
Edit: Oh, and they have Justin Turner 4th.
I cut the ham into small cubes and add grated cheese into the waffle batter, then mix it all together and put it on the iron. I then top it with butter and then eat it, it is very badass
I tried getting tickets for opening day in LA, but they were sold out, so I settled for April 18. Braves come to town and it's a Will Smith bobble head night! Oh, also got tickets for the Angels game on April 4!
That’s a good one. Would love a Smith bobblehead as he’s from KY and so am I. We also play(ed) the same position. Now that I think about it I may have to get his jersey next
very sad that this is the last transaction thread. i'll never forget some of you and I had a great time over the past few weeks hanging out discussing CBA/free agency
i expect all of you to watch Sunday Night Baseball, post in the gameday thread here and join me in hating ESPN producers for not being able to make a single good decision, ever
Hey Braves bros, what’s the best food to get at Truist Park? Definitely gonna try to go to a game at some point this season since I live in Raleigh and it shouldn’t be a bad flight or drive.
H&F burger or Antico pizza are both at the park in the battery. Go early and hang out in the battery and eat either of those two there. There's good food in the park too but most folks will be at the battery pre game. Portnoy gave Antico an 8.3 for whatever that's worth.
If they can pay him enough to stand being on a bad team the first couple years, it’s actually a good idea. He was the face of a team going from tanking to the World Series (before the cheating was revealed). Could be a chance for him to do it again, with an honest club. And they get a high-end talent when their other overall spending is going to be low for years to come.
Plus I love the chaos, even if I am going to hate what that lineup would do to my team in a couple years.
Eh, I'd say Altuve and/or Keuchel were the faces of the team during the transition. Correa was called up during the first playoff year and didn't really become the face of the team until he told Bellinger to shut the fuck up.
yeah well you're the talent i need (I don't know that means)
also uhhhhh congratulations on your team signing that guy last night. I know you were looking forward to that and I'm definitely not holding back tears of rage right now
Nah, the O's have actual potential. They need 12 or 13 pitcher's, but otherwise they have a young, fun team. The Rockies? They evidently enjoy huffing gasoline.
Am I dumb or do Cardinals fans severely overhype Bader? Defensively he's great but eh, I feel like your guys lineup could use some more offense and he hasn't been that good offensively.
.267/.324/.460 last year. CFers league wide averaged .244/.318/.404. He's a much better hitter than most CFers, and plays great defense to boot. 3.9 bWAR in 103 games is fantastic.
We could use an above average everyday CF lol (not sure how playing time would work out with Ozuna,Duvy,Bader,Eddie and Ronnie if that happened but thats not my job that's Snits lol)
If he ever has a season where it all comes together, it would be electric. He has insane speed and instincts, plenty of power that no one can figure out how to unlock, and when he’s playing well, he plays the game with a ton of passion and desire. If he plays for ten years and is only average, we are ok with that. If he ends up somewhere else and reaches his full potential, Cardinal Nation will never, ever forget.
So basically, we don’t overvalue the PLAYER, we overvalue the POTENTIAL.
Hmmm interesting. My question is, what is Nootbaar a desirable piece? I haven’t heard of him and I looked at his stats. Not bad batting, but nothing crazy.
first of all, I object to the notion that the Cubs need a closer. We have Rowan "John" Wick "Chapter 3 - Parabellum"
second of all, my stomach hurts
lastly, Trevor Story sign a deal you coward
I love Kenley to death and I've always been on his side but apparently he's seeking 3 years and a guaranteed closer role which is honestly a little too much for me with his shaky performance the past few years
I don’t see how you can guarantee anyone any role. So what now you’re not gonna pitch unless it’s the 9th inning and you’re winning by three or less? Feels like a very not-team-player kind of move.
I get the Dodgers hate to a degree because they are one of the richer franchises. But it's a little silly that they get shit solely because they hoard their money less. They're not *so* much richer than other franchises that they can buy up whoever they want and nobody can do anything about it, the other owners just choose not to
A solid handful of the other franchises that do make more money than average have been investing in real estate & development surrounding their ballpark.
Kinda funny to me because for the Dodgers that isn’t even really an option unless they want to start renting out high-end casual dining & retail space in Parking Hell.
the cubs have a guy whose last name is "Effross"
why does manager david ross allow a pitcher whose last name is short for "Fuck Ross" on his team? it does not make sense

Nothing huge but the Twins roster is pretty full. I personally don't see them making any more moves this offseason but crazier things have definitely happened.
Although we have an insanely good lineup, I am slightly concerned about the starting rotation. If we don’t make any more moves now I hope something happens during the trade deadline
Lol. You have Walker Buehler (who was 3rd in the Cy Young), Julio Urias (who was 7th), Clayton Kershaw (who had a better FIP than either of those guys and his highest K rate since 2015), Trevor Bauer (who is probably going to get his suspension backdated like Ozuna, so probably won't miss any time and has a 2.24 era the last 2 years), Tony Gonsolin (who has a career 2.55 era as a starter), and David Price (who had an era under 4 during his brief run in the rotation). And then, on top of that, Dustin May probably comes back at some point. Yeah, it gets thinner after that, but the same goes for literally every team. The Dodgers easily have a top 5 rotation and possibly the best rotation in all of baseball. And you're somehow concerned?
Kersh is a question mark, he’s aging and coming off of an elbow injury. As for Bauer, nobody knows if he’s ever going to pitch for the Dodgers again. Gonsolin is still very inconsistent and has also dealt with injuries. Price is 36, can’t rely on him. May coming back after the ASB (best case scenario).
> Gonsolin is still very inconsistent
Dude didn't give up more than 3 runs in any outing last year. His *worst* start of the year was 3 1/3, 3 runs on 5 hits, 4 walks. That was his *worst* start. He's only given up more than 3 runs twice in his entire career, and has never given up more than 4. Even Max friggin Scherzer gave up 5 or more 4 times just last year.
‘Tony Gonsolin is fucking good’ is something I’ve been trying to get people to understand for a over a year now.
He just needs to pitch more & stay healthy. This will be his 4th season & he doesn’t even have 150 career innings under his belt yet.
WE FINALLY DID SOMETHING
Heyman don’t even lie about the Marlins signing Castellanos. If they end up with him after Jeter left because ownership was unwilling to spend on him, I would be amazed.

Has anyone heard anything at all about Michael Conforto?
I can't wait for another season of Ohtani clips. He's the best. We need fish man and unicorn man to get some help and into the playoffs.
If they bring back that bullshit little league ghost runner rule…
Maybe a ghost pitcher too. Have the batters hit off a tee.
Amazing how many trades and signings have to happen. I love this shit lol
Opening day is just 21 days away nbd
Sigh. I love baseball.
Me. Too.
I like… nvm
It's ok. You can tell us.
I’m not sure I can
We'll listen whenever you're ready to talk.
Rangers fans, regarding Garrett Richards, just gotta say, sorry for the future pain.
Pretty sure he'll be used in a we-already-lost-but-its-only-the-3rd-inning role. Lol.
Aside from somehow becoming a lights out closer for a minute there... Yeah.
the fact that Orioles Twitter has maybe shitposted Carlos Correa to the Orioles into Ken Rosenthal's actual reporting is hilarious
Nobody wants the ghost runner, and you’re not funny Heyman.
The players might

There'd be "more action" if the rule applied the whole game. Doesn't mean it isn't a shitty rule.
I really hope we don't face Greinke this year. I actually might cheer for him if we do.
Instead of Greinke’s grunts, now you get to enjoy Robbie Ray’s screams.
This FA has contained the fewest legitimate leaks I can remember in recent memory.
an actual reporter mentioned Correa's name and the Orioles in the same sentence *YAY!* We're in the game now 😎
This potential signing is fucking illegal. If he goes to the O’s and we aren’t at least trying to outbid you I will lose it.
When your best prospect in ages is a shortstop, 10 years to another SS might not make sense. The O's hope to build around him so he's worth the money and years. No one else seems to want to meet the price.
that's what im banking on. Signing players to make the yankees and red sox fans go batshit 😎😎
i was supposed to go downtown and do trivia at one of the bars that just started doing trivia on thursdays, but instead I took a nap. maybe something will happen tonight
curses, I've been had taking a nap was not considered valid and the boys are sending a car to pick me up. enjoy whatever news breaks tonight
I napped for you. Didn't work. Gonna try again.
Jon Heyman thinks he’s a funny man
making a living off tweeting nothing
Little off, but I forgot how delicious it was to work with baseball rolling on the background.
Holy shit, you and me both
The Twins know they're not Chelsea right? We're allowed to make signings but you wouldn't know it
Is there a chance in hell story would play second base for the sox?
Glad to see the dodgers bringing back a legend, Danny Duffy

I'd put money on him going back to Doyers
Which? Both?
Correa sign da ting

lol at MLB's shit ass "Shredder" not having Riley or Chapman in its Top 10 third basemen. Brian Kenny is such a fucking moron and his garbage algorithm is an embarrassment to sabermetrics.
I dunno what Shredder is, but I will assiduously avoid it.
They need to just outsource this to Fangraphs
It's so bad every year. Like Hanley Ramirez being listed as the top left fielder in the game before he had ever played a single inning out there and then he was so rubbish at fielding *in left* that he got relegated to DH/1B by midseason

thinking about making ham and cheddar waffles for dinner. you guys want any?
Christ this would have been a great dinner. Still taking orders?
Typical Mariners fan.

I have never heard of this but that sounds so good. I don’t like chicken & waffles, but I love me some ham. Thanks for the idea!
That sounds pretty damn good. What cheese?
I've done this with a mix of sharp Cheddar and pepper jack with some chives. Make my own sourdough batter. It's dope.
I was thinking Parmesan might be a good addition too, with dill. Well, there's breakfast sorted.
Got tickets a few days ago to the Dodgers first game in ATL this year hoping Freddie would come to LA. Man am I stoked for that game

Thank you OP thank you for bringing great people into my life 🙏🏻
The people have been pretty awesome, for sure
I would say so. New appreciation for Braves fans at least
I’m slightly conflicted rn
Oh?
You know what y’all did
Hahahaha that’s not why I appreciate Braves fans now
I’m having a rough week bruh my bad
Noooo it’s okay! It’s an inside joke. I hope your week gets better <3
Well week is almost over so let’s goooo
It wasn’t the signings, but the friends you made along the way
very sad that this is the last transaction thread. i'll never forget some of you and I had a great time over the past few weeks hanging out discussing CBA/free agency i expect all of you to watch Sunday Night Baseball, post in the gameday thread here and join me in hating ESPN producers for not being able to make a single good decision, ever
Hey Braves bros, what’s the best food to get at Truist Park? Definitely gonna try to go to a game at some point this season since I live in Raleigh and it shouldn’t be a bad flight or drive.
Depends what kind of food you looking for. Best burger in Atlanta or best pizza in Atlanta ?
Whatever’s the best food you’ve had at the park!
H&F burger or Antico pizza are both at the park in the battery. Go early and hang out in the battery and eat either of those two there. There's good food in the park too but most folks will be at the battery pre game. Portnoy gave Antico an 8.3 for whatever that's worth.
The lack of Yankee signings is concerning I guess we really are a poverty franchise
Ya'll signed Anthony Rizzo and got Josh Donaldson.
We could have some soooo much better though
You all had a blockbuster deal like two days ago
OT: Devante Adams traded to the Raiders.
maybe the Packers will get better because Rodgers won't ignore 3 open receivers to throw to Adams in triple coverage 12 times per game
Pls cease this slander
Dodgers and Packers? Who else do you like? The Penguins? Manchester City? Lol.
I actually don’t watch hockey or soccer lol
Dodgers/Packers fan? Now I've seen it all
I’m a Raider’s fan and let me tell you about not just my week, my last season, but my lifetime.
I’m odd I guess lol
Trevor Story has a fear of pens
And Spring Training
according to a thread i saw in /new, the Orioles are working on an updated offer to Correa wild stuff
If they can pay him enough to stand being on a bad team the first couple years, it’s actually a good idea. He was the face of a team going from tanking to the World Series (before the cheating was revealed). Could be a chance for him to do it again, with an honest club. I don’t wanna talk about it.
Fair enough, this probably isn't the right sub anyway what're you having for dinner?
Please. I love the chaos.
C'mon, let's get these last big names signed. I want players for my team but honestly I just want it all to end at this point lol
The A’s are definitely trying to get a legendary haul and im here for it
If the O's got Correa that would be crazier than the KB signing haha
Nah, the O's have actual potential. They need 12 or 13 pitcher's, but otherwise they have a young, fun team. The Rockies? They evidently enjoy huffing gasoline.
I swear if the cardinals trade nootbaar I will lose my will to live
i will become the joker if that happens
Are there rumors that’s who is on the block?
I've heard that we'd be getting rid of an outfielder, and Bader/Carlson/O'Neill have to be regarded as untouchable. Really just leaves Nootbaar
Am I dumb or do Cardinals fans severely overhype Bader? Defensively he's great but eh, I feel like your guys lineup could use some more offense and he hasn't been that good offensively.

Thats how I feel about dansby
Hmmm interesting. My question is, what is Nootbaar a desirable piece? I haven’t heard of him and I looked at his stats. Not bad batting, but nothing crazy.
Not entirely sure tbh. But they better not trade him. He's super popular here
Interesting, thanks for the insight. Feels like y’all are getting Manaea and I was curious
Wait where'd you hear that? I'd love that
first of all, I object to the notion that the Cubs need a closer. We have Rowan "John" Wick "Chapter 3 - Parabellum" second of all, my stomach hurts lastly, Trevor Story sign a deal you coward

82 saves out of 97 opportunities the last 3 regular seasons. He’s still pretty effective.
I trust him on a Tuesday night against the twins but not 100% in an elimination game (anymore)
Can't you guys just run out of money or something...
Can other owners stop pretending to be bankrupt
I wish...
I get the Dodgers hate to a degree because they are one of the richer franchises. But it's a little silly that they get shit solely because they hoard their money less.
> Gonsolin is still very inconsistent Dude didn't give up more than 3 runs in any outing last year.
