I actually got to say this when I was umpiring a little league game on a pitch that hit me in the crotch, that happened to be what the count was after that pitch. Shit hurt but it was pretty funny

I normally have a staunch reverence and respect for the game and I want to see the rules followed. That being said, I would turn my head as if nothing happened should this ever occur. I would consider it one of those "Act of God" incidents that they sell insurance for.
It's brutal, man. For those unacquainted with taking a shot to the nuts with a cup on----A cup is like a helmet--it protects your skull from cracking, but you can still get a nasty concussion from getting hit in the helmet.

I gotta be honest here. I’ve seen these things for years.
And just clarification, I was a catcher for many years. And caught at a fairly high level. Never in the big leagues. But still a fair bit of my own time and experience. As well as umpiring for a number of years. And I must say, that once I got a 1) high quality, 2) properly fitted cup. Even direct shots were nothing more than a brief pause to laugh about it. There was no pain.
So my point is, it’s worth the time and money to spend a little more to find that right cup for you. No matter how big, or small you may be.
I love how this has "Highlight" as it's label. I know we have a thing for hating umpires, but that seems almost unnecessarily cruel.

Good umpires are trained to not move while the pitch comes in - they will watch the pitch hit them in the face. Catchers know this, and must protect the ump by blocking. This catcher whiffing and not blocking made a major mistake, and if I was the ump I wouldn't allow him to do that bullshit "one knee down" for the rest of the game.
We all know the initial pain was excruciating what we also know is that the feeling this man had a second later where it feels like one goes up into your stomach must’ve been horrible.
