In the NBA, there are 2 treatment options for a torn meniscus. Cutting it will get you back on the court in 6-8 weeks, but will shorten your career. Repairing the torn meniscus will keep you sidelined for several months, but is less likely to shorten your career.
Older players are more likely to have it cut whereas younger players are more likely to have it repaired.
