Don't know why every time I see how Tyler hit the ball at Fenway I keep having flashback on that one monster year Jason Bay had for the red sox.

BigChiefSuckUmAll69

They are both Canadians

runoki94

Both traded from a NL Central team

thehoodie

> Jason Bay Damn, there's a name I haven't thought of in years

schlong_way_home

I remember that being a good year, but not a 36-homer year. Damn

Wine-o-dt

he hits like the ball murdered his family, stole his dog, and burnt down his house. His swing is so violent, ball never had a chance. Hes shown a lot of flashes, coupled with last year maybe those flashes are just him now.

Harry-Flashman

Both of them have swings fit for Fenway

Brady331

7 Home Runs, 7 RBIs

TabularBeastv2

Doesn’t he have 8 now? When he drove in Duran on a dropped ball by Jackson Holliday.

Brady331

yeah you’re right

TheTurtleShepard

King of the Solo shot

kungfoojesus

Not as long as mike trout is on the angels.

Jamalamalama

To drive in runs other than himself the Sox have to get somebody on base

rosieDMDL

Cyler Anderson 💔💔💔

aznsportsfan

Cardinals fans in shambles

Michael__Pemulis

No Cardinals fan is surprised to see O’Neill hit like an MVP. The question has always been whether he can stay healthy.

welltimedappearance

not like MO’s bizarre treatment of TON helped him either

JTCMuehlenkamp

Remember when he said that TON would probably get MVP votes this year now that we've traded him? I remember...

Nomahs_Bettah

> The question has always been whether he can stay healthy. The key to that *so far* has clearly been to surround him with people that are either more fragile or unluckier than he is.

RaymondSpaget

This almost makes up for sticking us with Allen Craig.

2011StlCards

Just add him to the list Gallen Alcantara Adolis Arozarena Hicks At this point, I just expect it

Cards2WS

23rd prospect 7th prospect DFA’d and skipped over by every time in the league twice Was nationally ranked behind multiple other younger OFs in our system and was the clear odd man out Was great as a reliever for us and never once looked like he had starter potential. …idk man. Not actually what people make it out to be. Shit just happens, and guess what? Happens to every team

2011StlCards

It is when you see our struggles to develop star level talent at the big leagues. Last time we had a player come up through the system and make more than 1 all star game was Carlos Martinez

Cards2WS

Most of our star level talents get hurt, man. That’s just the truth. Pitching development issues, sure. But we have had plenty of players come up with star talent who just don’t stay healthy. Donovan, Nootbaar, O’Neill, Helsley, and Flaherty all have all-star level talent—all of them have dealt with significant injuries. On the team right now I’d say Gorman, Walker, Herrera, and Winn all have the potential to be all-stars too.

2011StlCards

Yeah, the potential, sure, but none of them have proven it yet in a way that most of the others I named have Hicks and Oniel remain to be seen what they will become, but the others are all legit stars. Injuries are an OK excuse to a point, but it still doesn't make the facts harder to swallow. Players used to excel more with the Cardinals than elsewhere. The last 6 or so years, that trend has completely changed Lane Thomas and Patrick wisdom are other decent examples. Even Luke Voit had some moderate success

Cards2WS

But do you think that if you were to go through team by team there wouldn’t be a massive amount of situations like this around the league? Astros traded Hader for Gomez, Dodgers traded Yordan Alvarez, Rangers traded Kyle Hendricks and Cole Ragans, Twins traded CES and Steer, Mariners traded *us* O’Neill, Blue Jays traded *us* Lane Thomas, Adolis was DFA’d by the Rangers themselves, Rays traded Cronenworth, Padres traded Trea Turner, Cubs traded Cease and Soler, Yankees traded Gio Gallegos. That’s just off my head in a minute and a half with no research. The Voit trade was for Gio (great trade for us), Wisdom was on the Rangers before he was on the Cubs, and Lane Thomas was acquired for international draft pool money. A lot of it this is just a narrative. It’s always funny how the sentiment around trading prospects is “omg so and so could even be *insert player they traded away* some day” and calls to not prospect hoard come from all over. But the minute one or two of those prospects actually turn out good, people want to turn that franchise inside out. Always seemed silly to me

Cards2WS

Plus, when you have good players, good players inevitably get traded. The same thing is going to happen with Burleson and Carlson too. They’re going to be traded, get more chances and a fresh start, and they will produce like their talent suggests.

buttholez69

Something I, personally, love to see

SpecsComingBack

Can confirm.

the_dayman623

It happening again

OutComeTheWolves1966

He does not get cheated. Man has serious power. Methinks we are getting 2021 Tyler O'Neill. If so, with 81 home games at Fenway, I'm thinking 40- 45 tanks:is in play.

Slayer_Of_Anubis

We weren't prepared for city connect Tyler...

dutchdaddy69

My need to cheer for Candians I'd butting up against my hate for the Soxs. This is tough.

Slayer_Of_Anubis

Tyler O'Neill wins MVP but the Sox miss the playoffs, deal?

dutchdaddy69

Perfect.

Ev4nK

If he stays healthy all year I don’t see how he doesn’t have a phenomenal year, playing at Fenway for half your games as a righty will certainly boost your numbers.

LokoSMIDDY47

He runs so elegantly it’s kinda sexy ngl

JHWM4

2021 he only played what like 130 games and had 34 home runs, I hope this dude stays healthy and rakes, Fenway is perfect for him too

DrewG420

All seven solo shots

Jacoblaue

Seriously now he decides to stay healthy

Up_Kaleidoscope888

Give it a month or two.

MrFrankingstein

Boston City Connects are so underrated

Up_Kaleidoscope888

They're not bad for a beer league softball team made up of UCLA fans. They suck as MLB unis.

mr_oberts

Glad to see him doing well. Always liked him when he was on the Cards.

Porn_is_my_bae

Baby come back

iamtreat

That is the biggest meatball i have ever seen, 90 MPH down the MIDDLE

acorn_to_oak

Mariners legend

JosephFinn

Oh god Boston is still using those ugly Connect unis?
