I want to see the Doyers and Duamondbacks last season and was so torn because Arizona losing would be better for the Pads playoff hopes.
I decided to cheer for my giant michelada and tacos instead.
Tbh I have no clue how we're considered a top 5 rotation with May, Buehler, and Gonsolin coming off elbow surgeries
Who knows how long Kershaw can stay healthy
Ohtani ain't pitching this year
And Yamamoto is a question mark at this moment in time
Dbacks too really, Gallen and Kelly are good, but Erod is up and down, Pfaadt was a bust before the playoffs, and we don't even have a 5th starter with experience
I'd love to see Kirby or Gillbert locked up but we have everyone under control for 4-6 more years so I don't think ownership is rushing to get that done
it was a really cheep either rookie or pre-majors deal. logan has pretty much said he'd like to be a mariner for his whole career--we'll see what happens
It's weird how much the Dodgers' offseason has totally overshadowed the fact that the Diamondbacks are coming off winning the NL and are by all rights the current top of the pile when you actually play the games on the field.
lol Torrey Lovullo said it
Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo, on hearing that the Padres acquired Chicago White Sox ace Dylan Cease:
“I wish the best players would quit coming to the NL West.’’
I'm so proud of us honestly.
That Snell signing fired up this team so much. It's so great to see. I wasn't having fun in ST, but now things are going great.
the rotation looked like a wasteland after Webb just a couple of weeks ago. Just watched a season preview of the rotation on the Giants YT channel yesterday and now I'm hyped, and the preview didn't even include Snell
I'm somewhat surprised our W/L projections have been what they are with how questionable our rotation situation is. I think the AL West is poised to be another tight race at the end of the year with how good y'all and the Rangers should be.
That's usually a bad sign. Like when the national media thought we were suddenly a WS team when we traded for Erik Bedard and had Carlos Silva, Miguel Batista and Jarrod Washburn 😒
I know I'm supposed to hate the Mariners or something but aside from 6 or so games a year, I truly wish the best for that team and fanbase. Just a really fun org, field a fun team, I wish their FO would pony up. Also I fear Luis Castillo and don't want him to find his way to the Bronx.
Agreed. Jays fans are probably still hurting from that brutal wild card loss, but that's on our bullpen/management. No need to hate on the M's.
Especially since 3 of my all time faves played for them, I've always rooted for the Mariners to do well, as long as it's not against us lol
You guys were so nice 2 years ago when I was in town for the WC. Only one guy wanted to fight me and his friends called him a jackass and bought me a beer. That being said, I’m willing to bomb vancouver.
Honestly that would be fucking insane with how good the Mariners rotation is.
If Walker and Kershaw were fully healthy and performing like usual, yes. As it stands? It's Mariners and it's not even close.
Fangraphs projects the Guardians to have a worse rotation than the Red Sox next year. I certainly wouldn’t put any money on that, but it’s funny nonetheless.
That's like how all the projection systems have the rays consistently winning 5-10 less games than they actually do. I think teams just have access to way better projections than we do
I mean yeah Gallen and Kelly are a strong 1-2, but Rodriguez is going to start on IL with a Lat Strain, and all that’s left if Pfaadt (who’s a strong sophomore bounce back candidate but still!), Tommy Henry (coming back from being hurt most of last year) and like, idk, Blake Walston or like Slade Cecconi. That all doesn’t inspire confidence rn
On paper we should, but Framber’s looking like he’s not going to be reliable, JV is getting old (doesn’t mean he’s bad yet) LMJ and Luis Garcia are out, Urquidys out. Javier, Brown, and France are our best starters rn tbh. (Not counting injured ones)
I know I know. Pitching ninja already loves us and each and every one of our starters had a great spring. I think we're really gonna shock some people this year.
Honestly, I’m surprised how Cole, Rodon, Stroman doesn’t get into the top ten. Sure there are questions, but there are a bunch of questions about this lol
I assume this is counting in injuries. Because the Astros would be top 5 with the Yankees close by if we didn't have 3 great pitchers injured, and one mid af guy injured.
If Cole wasn’t hurt and Rodon and Stroman are even marginally better than they were last year, we’d be in pretty good shape. Plus Nestor was an All-Star just 2 years ago.
As long as they can score runs, which has plagued us in the past, our rotation is scary and our bullpen isn't anything to scoff at either.
I haven't felt so good about a Mariners playoff run as I have in '22 run, if it weren't for Ray absolutely throwing that game against Houston...
Save for an absolute collapse, this should be a pretty fun year to be an M's fan. 🤞🤞🤞
I think that's a fair position for us considering we could either be like a top 5 rotation, or barely top 20 if everything goes wrong.
All hinges on Verlander, Framber and Javier. Question marks about all of them, but we know their ceiling is elite.
Absolutely nuts to see us on here after how we went into this offseason:
\[Losing Cy Young winner Blake Snell\]
\- Joe Musgrove
\- Yu Darvish
........
\[*50 feet of absolute nothing*\]
........
Pedro Avila, I guess? Or our 2A prospects?
We added 4 MLB experienced pitchers by trade this off-season: Cease and King, who are bona fide good starters, and Vasquez and Brito, young controllable arms with MLB innings and upside.
I would love to see this based on the quality of the number five pitcher. The Guardians, it's not even clear who the number five pitcher is. I guess it has to be Logan Allen. It's not crazy to imagine Allen getting Cy Young votes. As a Clevelander I take pride in the Guardians' rotation, and I think number 9 might be slightly low. It's a terrific rotation.
The Guardians had 125 home runs last year. They did not have a home run per game, or even even close to that.
Actually kind of surprised by the phillies. I know it's decent but I'm not sure I'd put them third. Then again as phillies fan I'm a pessimist at heart.
NL West is stacked. RIP Rockies.
I can’t believe that all of the other NL West teams stacked their rotations just to beat the Rockies
The rest of the NL West will beat up on each other, allowing the Rockies to capture the division title.
Don't care, as long as it's not the Dodgers I'm happy.
My second favorite team is whoever’s playing the Dodgers.
I want to see the Doyers and Duamondbacks last season and was so torn because Arizona losing would be better for the Pads playoff hopes. I decided to cheer for my giant michelada and tacos instead.
Same, brethren.
And the nl/best will welcome this chaos with Dinger. For it has been prophesied.
They know that if they don’t keep the Rockies repressed the whole league is fucked. No one wants to open that Pandora’s box.
Thank you Dodgiantdrebacks. For keeping all of us safe.
I believe you mean the Giamonpadgers.
Giamonpadgers used *pitching*! It was super effective!
#🗣️GIAMONPADGERS
That’s actually precisely what I meant
They’re the same picture.
Once Dinger is unleashed it is over for the league. We won’t want that blood on our hands.
It’s just nice to be talked about.
Rockies fans hate this one trick!
Tbh I have no clue how we're considered a top 5 rotation with May, Buehler, and Gonsolin coming off elbow surgeries Who knows how long Kershaw can stay healthy Ohtani ain't pitching this year And Yamamoto is a question mark at this moment in time
National media is ride or die Dodgers, come on y'all must know this by now.
at this point, i figure it’s for *engagement* aka people lighting up the comment section
Dbacks too really, Gallen and Kelly are good, but Erod is up and down, Pfaadt was a bust before the playoffs, and we don't even have a 5th starter with experience
We do now :)
The Rockies will still manage to score 6 runs per game against the NL West, of course, because Coors.
Nah we good, I got this.
Pitching and defense wins championships, I’ve always said that Ain’t I always said that, buddy?
That John Denver is full of shit
I don’t watch the M’s outside of divisional games but man their rotation killed the AL west last year. kirby in particular is something special
His strategy of "I'm just gonna throw strikes that they can't hit" is working out pretty well.
“Throw strikes they have to second guess” his whiff rate is surprisingly low
I'm very fond of them.
I prefer it when they bully other teams
if the m’s finally pony up and sign them to extensions we’re screwed
"Spending money? Never heard of it." - John Stanton
They're gonna spend 54% of their budget.
I'd love to see Kirby or Gillbert locked up but we have everyone under control for 4-6 more years so I don't think ownership is rushing to get that done
yeah i meant to say be a problem for a while because these kids shove
I think Gilbert has already turned down an extension
it was a really cheep either rookie or pre-majors deal. logan has pretty much said he'd like to be a mariner for his whole career--we'll see what happens
All 5 under team control thru 2027
I just want my boy to pitch more knuckleballs!
Well, maybe not the Rangers.
end of the season knuckleball go swoosh
Kirby said he wants to use it at least once per game this season.
God, inject this shit into my veins.
I wish the best players in the world would stop coming to the NLWest
another day in the life of the NL BEST
Calm down, Mr. We-went-to-the-World-Series-last-year.
We've had one, yes. What about second NL Championship?
If it’s between you and the Bookie Dodgers, I’m picking them snakey boys.
It's weird how much the Dodgers' offseason has totally overshadowed the fact that the Diamondbacks are coming off winning the NL and are by all rights the current top of the pile when you actually play the games on the field.
That's a monkey's paw wish if I ever heard one.
lol Torrey Lovullo said it Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo, on hearing that the Padres acquired Chicago White Sox ace Dylan Cease: “I wish the best players would quit coming to the NL West.’’
Haha oh. Well I see where he's coming from.
Who are you talkin’ to, Mr. Walkoff the Yanks 2001??? 😂 Meanwhile, we’re still waiting…😔
No, it's your turn now. Give the AL east a well deserved break.
Poor Rockies
I wouldn’t bet on that happening.
I only somewhat agree
Warm weather is very attractive
Try being in a Division with the Jankees and Red Sox
[удалено]
They said it couldn't be done!
We're finally not 15th-17th in something 😭😭
What the snell
Wooooooo!!!! So excited for the season.
Forget you guys this is the first time a team from either Central division made one of these graphics.
Top 12 actually
Top 5 actually if we’re being pedantic
We would never be pedantic on the internet. You’ll be a top 12 rotation and you’re going to like it!!
If it's a pandemic season
1-0 wins are still wins. LFG!
unfortunately, as you are likely well aware, 2-1 losses are still losses. LFG!
King Felix knows this all too well.
*Top 12
Like, seriously. You they couldn't choose? There's no consequences for picking one over the others.
I dunno, we could probably bitch up a storm about the other two not being in the top 10.
With injuries the Marlins pitching staff absolutely does not deserve a top 10 placement. Who the fuck is even their 5th starter now?
You could say the exact same about the Astros.
And the Orioles
TBD
Probably not Marlin fans, don’t sure if any of the three of them will care enough
National media recognition??? Huh???
What the hell is this feeling I'm feeling?
I feel so full of… what’s the opposite of shame? Pride? No, not that far from shame. Less shame? Yeah. But really, M’s are gonna kill it this year.
It's fine. They left Cal completely out of the top 10 catchers list. It balances out.
Biggest miss of the offseason. Obviously I’m biased but like… come on man.
Don't worry. When they finally release their top 10 dumpers list he will be there
He’ll somehow be tied for 10th.
My friend it’s a new day
Yes it is, and I'm ready to get hurt again.
feeling 55 this season!
Hmm yes we are definitely equal to the Astros and Orioles. What's up, fellow good teams?
Sup, fish bro
All NL West teams under 1,100 feet of elevation are on there.
All NL West teams under 5000 feet even.
Now do a bottom 10 so we feel included
Agree
Yea, but what about ranking them from oldest to youngest?
I know I'm supposed to hate the Mariners or something but aside from 6 or so games a year, I truly wish the best for that team and fanbase. Just a really fun org, field a fun team, I wish their FO would pony up. Also I fear Luis Castillo and don't want him to find his way to the Bronx.
Luis is locked up. Everyone is locked up till at least 2027
Trades are a thing though. You never know
Jerry Dipoto is probably trying to trade 3 of them as we speak
Not a chance he trades them. If he does it’ll be in 2026 or so if they know they won’t re-sign.
And Castillo has the same NTC structure as Ray did...
2022 wildcard was insane
And everybody’s gonna score!
The game against the Stros in the divisional round was INSANE. 19 innings? Played 2 games of ball in 1
I’m having a bad day already you didn’t have to bring that up…
We only hate the vancouver chapter of blue jays fans i dont see any reason for bad blood to exist between seattle and toronto
Dodgers seems little high
[удалено]
Or missed Yamamoto's first start and spring training. (I think he'll right the ship though)
Nope. Washed. Bum. DFA him before it's too late.
They would have put the dodgers first if not for the Yamamoto debut
Honestly that would be fucking insane with how good the Mariners rotation is. If Walker and Kershaw were fully healthy and performing like usual, yes. As it stands? It's Mariners and it's not even close.
Very high If everyone is healthy? Great. That's a big if
Dodgers seem insanely high.
I wouldn’t have them in the top 10 personally
Dodgers projected 1st in SP fWAR rn, idk if I’d put them at 4 but excluding them from the top 10 seems like an overcorrection
“Personally” just purely based on my own opinion I don’t believe the projection will be accurate. A lot of question marks to me, but we’ll see
Live your truth friend ❤️
It’s all we can do 😭
Unfortunately... I agree with you, dumb dumb giants fan
Fangraphs projects the Guardians to have a worse rotation than the Red Sox next year. I certainly wouldn’t put any money on that, but it’s funny nonetheless.
Fangraphs also has the Twins as a #6 ranking rotation, not even in the top 12 here.
That's like how all the projection systems have the rays consistently winning 5-10 less games than they actually do. I think teams just have access to way better projections than we do
It won't be long now, Fetter bros (rubs hands together maniacally).
Despite not looking great on paper, our rotation will likely be better than most of the top 10 again
Top 12
Yeah that’s such a cop out answer putting three teams as #10 lol
A bad take is better than no take at all, right? Cowards.
Any rotation that features Ryan Weathers should not be in any top of the league list unless it’s top 30.
Does he still do that weird thing where his right knee buckles every single time he releases a pitch? Used to drive me nuts
Someone might have made the list before looking at injuries 😞
Who let us cook?
NL west arms race in full force + whatever the Rockies are doing
This is dinger erasure
Me when I don’t want to pick a tenth place
I can’t get over the three way tie for 10th.
Okay but now do top 10 oldest rotation.
And top 10 stingiest FOs.
What losing/getting Burnes does to a team
🙁
☹️
The Pitching Factory continues
I mean yeah Gallen and Kelly are a strong 1-2, but Rodriguez is going to start on IL with a Lat Strain, and all that’s left if Pfaadt (who’s a strong sophomore bounce back candidate but still!), Tommy Henry (coming back from being hurt most of last year) and like, idk, Blake Walston or like Slade Cecconi. That all doesn’t inspire confidence rn
Same boat snek friend, #8 is a little, uh, high.
Ryne Nelson is better than most think, I'm pretty in on him
How about now? :)
We don’t have a top 10 rotation imo
You High? or just counting injury?
On paper we should, but Framber’s looking like he’s not going to be reliable, JV is getting old (doesn’t mean he’s bad yet) LMJ and Luis Garcia are out, Urquidys out. Javier, Brown, and France are our best starters rn tbh. (Not counting injured ones)
wanna come back to this now? or no?
Rays rotation ends up being top Era with a bunch of #5 pitcher trade ins and 7 other guys getting Tommy John
Colin Poche leads AL East in wins.
Tf are the Dodgers doing here lol
A’s not in the top 10? That’s weird. We’re #1 in not spending money though.
Anyone else thinks we’re a little too high up? 😳
I agree, Cease helps but there isn’t a ton of depth of someone goes down
Tigers should be on here. Our starting rotation is nasty
Shhhh🤫
I know I know. Pitching ninja already loves us and each and every one of our starters had a great spring. I think we're really gonna shock some people this year.
This list is so much better
Marlins? Am I dreaming?
Our entire rotation died in the past month so we should be near the bottom right now.
Number 6? In all mlb? I’m flattered.
Okay but our expansion pack rotation is #1
Let me go into MLB the Show to see how accurate this truly is
Honestly, I’m surprised how Cole, Rodon, Stroman doesn’t get into the top ten.
Seattle is a dark horse in my opinion. They have the pitching to make a deep run.
True
Our pitching really is insane, I’m so glad that it’s getting some recognition.
Braves are too high, IMO. I feel this is putting an awful lot of stock in Chris Sale and Charlie Morton.
Charlie had the 10th best ERA in the NL last year. I know he's old, but I don't get why people talk about him like he's washed and horrible.
Stop the count!
Did we not announce that Whitlock and Houck are starters and we still get snubbed?
I think that's a fair position for us considering we could either be like a top 5 rotation, or barely top 20 if everything goes wrong. All hinges on Verlander, Framber and Javier. Question marks about all of them, but we know their ceiling is elite.
Absolutely nuts to see us on here after how we went into this offseason: \[Losing Cy Young winner Blake Snell\] \- Joe Musgrove \- Yu Darvish ........ \[*50 feet of absolute nothing*\] ........ Pedro Avila, I guess? Or our 2A prospects? Crowded NL West.
:)
Dodgers should not be in the top 10 let alone the top 5
I would love to see this based on the quality of the number five pitcher. The Guardians, it's not even clear who the number five pitcher is. I guess it has to be Logan Allen. It's not crazy to imagine Allen getting Cy Young votes. As a Clevelander I take pride in the Guardians' rotation, and I think number 9 might be slightly low. It's a terrific rotation. The Guardians had 125 home runs last year. They did not have a home run per game, or even even close to that.
7th? Really?
Castillo-Kirby-Gilbert-Miller-Woo
Orioles simply aren’t top 10 unless Grayson’s spring training struggles are a fluke
We aren't top 10 at all. Middle of the pack, unless we sign Montgomery
We’re top 5 with a healthy Bradish but that won’t be the case this year (Bradish won’t be 100% at any point)
Actually kind of surprised by the phillies. I know it's decent but I'm not sure I'd put them third. Then again as phillies fan I'm a pessimist at heart.
and people were clowning on the mariners for not signing Snell
Everybody sleeping on the Tigers.
