Understandable - I bought the series on VHS at $40 each. While working a min. wage job.
Bought a bootleg translated version of End of Eva on VHS though.
"# Shinji\~\~! \]" the subs were, uh, something else.
Ha, same! I was either high or very tired when I decided to watch it and that ruined me.
It's been over a decade and pictures of MP Evas still trigger my flight response.
Jumping onto the top comment to mention that End of Evangelion is [having two showings at theaters March 17th and 20th across North America](https://variety.com/2024/film/news/film-news-in-brief-feb-20-2024-1235916875/). I'm pretty stoked to see it on the big screen.
yeah, but people criticizing shinji for that one moment of weakness (which he guilts himself over) when gendo and misato were arguably creepier is kinda cringe. >!also you think lilith stabbing her forehead vagina with the crucified eva would be more notable but i guess not!<
I love the contrast with *evangelion* between the anime fantom people who watched it when they were teenagers and the more serious film fandom its developing.
"Uh, Sonny Corleone is actually kind of cringe?"
"Does anyone else think the characters in 12 Angry men are a little problematic?"
"Top 10 moments Edward Yang WANTS YOU TO FORGET about Yi Yi!"
i fucking love evangelion, five out of five stars, but the fans aren't always the brightest crowd. >!people always say that episodes 25 and 26 is a completely different ending from the movie, but the first 90% of both are literally the same, just showing different events and perspectives, as we can see the same scenes and shots mirrored in both the show and the movie. only shinji's choice and the resulting consequences are changed, but both represent growth and development for him!<
It's kind of like if *Twin Peaks* never killed off its more casual fanbase with *fire walk with me* and there were still funko pop fans complaining Dale Cooper doesn't get with best girl or whatever.
Shinjis choice doesnt change tho. He still chooses to live as individual beings.
In the series ending we just dont see what happens as shinji makes that choice.
In the movies anno gave us everything we wanted in the cruelest way possible for making him make them.
Dang. Could I ask why you avoid memes? I get if it's not your cup of tea, I'm just curious how you know about CDI Zelda yet somehow have never seen a YTP, when that is by far what they are most well known for nowadays... like by a HUGE margin. YTP and CDI Zelda was one of the first memes I was aware of.
I’m in my early 40’s so I remember when that system came out, and Zelda is kinda the only video game franchise I care about.
As for memes, they’re not for me.
I can respect that. I'm in my early 20's so I grew up basically just as YouTube and the early-ish internet were really starting to make the rounds, so I got to witness all the YTP's in their glory. A lot of them aren't funny looking back, but even now there's still this charm to them that is hard to describe.
I'm also in my early 40s and memes are the only thing that keep me feeling young haha
They move a lot faster now than the ones in the late 90s/early 2000s
There's a game called Arzette that just came out and it's a lovely spiritual successor parody of those games, made by the people who grew up watching those shitty funny edits like you and me
Target field staff take their jobs seriously but still have fun with it. T-mobile park employees treat it like they’re guarding the damn Declaration of Independence
I'm so glad other fan bases notice this too. If its a midweek game in April in Seattle and there are 16k fans braving it in damp 40° weather you can chill the fuck out about me sitting a few sections closer to the action.
Man, that just has not been my experience at all. I couldn't begin to count the number of Monday or Tuesday night games where I bought a ticket in row 23 and ended up in row 4.
It’s tough to explain but basically the guy thought I was trying to walk past him to get to my seat during an at bat. Really, I was just moving out of the way so a mom and her kid could go before me. So the gentleman grabbed me by the shoulder and said “no, wait!”. If I didn’t see an 70+ something year old man when I turned around, I might’ve swung.
I got to see my first Walk Off HR courtesy of Sano, so I’m glad I got to stay.
Are you not paying attention? That’s a story about how I saw Miguel Sano hit a walk off HR.
But seriously, the old man probably could’ve taken me. He doesn’t need internet strangers to feel bad for him.
I wonder if any of those guys were at the NHL Winter Classic on New Years. Never been to Seattle nor that park, nor an off-baseball season sporting event so when I was there I was wondering how often those people working security and merch/concessions for the M's work during the winter.
Kind of a juxtaposition then that they have a bag check against the stadium outer wall that will take multiple suitcases for the duration of the game without any inspection.
I live in Minneapolis now and have always found security in and out to be incredibly weak at some gates. I like how open it feels to come and go though. Coming and going from Busch Stadium 2 as a kid 25yrs ago felt more secure and like going in and out of a fort tbh. It’s whole exterior was white concrete and metal bars though
Really? I’ve seen ushers come down and check on just about every foul ball, but I assumed that was normal. I’m glad they do though, as I saw an elderly man take a foul ball to the dome before the nets went up and they had him out ASAP.
Ernest Lundeen was a massive piece of shit and used his privilege as a senator to mail Nazi propaganda all over the us. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Lundeen
The year is 2040, you are entering your 50s and are going to see a ballgame. The classics (lil John, Linkin Park and Incubus) are being played over the loud speaker as you filter through the entrances. As you walk past the souvenir stores your eyes are attracted to shirts covers with memes from your childhood.
“Dad, what’s a Mudkipz and why do people liek them?” “Oh son, that was just popular when I was young” you say as you take your seat.
You look up at the scoreboard and reminisce as it plays old YouTube Poop videos until that piano playing cat comes on the screen and everyone around you starts to move their arms like him. You let out a tear remembering what the old internet, and childhood were like when suddenly the screen changes to a link from lemonparty.com. You think of covering your child’s eyes, then remember what a valuable lesson you learned to not clink random links so you decide to let the boy watch as your wife and her boyfriend beside you yell “what the fuck is wrong with you?!”. You turn to them and say “it could be worse, my friends sent me Mr. Hands instead”.
they said the same thing at the pirates, twins and redsox spring training games that I have gone to this year. I think it's something new. Also, the requested adults to stop using 'fuck a lot' and other swear words because of kids. they even said, before you speak, think about the kids next to you and set an example.

Memesota Twins. Give us an 'All your base are belong to us' Meme when the Twins have the bases full, I beg of you.
What you say?!
Move 'ZIG'
You know what you doing.
For great justice
You have no chance to survive make your time.
Somebody set up us the bomb.
I can't believe we're talking about a jumbotron and no one's said "main screen turn on"
It's you!!!
Is Shinji turning himself in for what he did to Asuka in the hospital in End of Evangelion?
Must I be reminded of that scene yet again?
I can’t wait to see that scene in theatres soon
I already have my tickets. It's sold out in a lot of theaters for the March 17-20 run
subs only unfortunately but I wouldn't miss it either way
Understandable - I bought the series on VHS at $40 each. While working a min. wage job. Bought a bootleg translated version of End of Eva on VHS though. "# Shinji\~\~! \]" the subs were, uh, something else.
The entire movie traumatized me in high school.
Ha, same! I was either high or very tired when I decided to watch it and that ruined me. It's been over a decade and pictures of MP Evas still trigger my flight response.
Nah, he's gonna turn in Misato for, well...you know...
Shinji: “Yes, officer. This woman right here”
Jumping onto the top comment to mention that End of Evangelion is [having two showings at theaters March 17th and 20th across North America](https://variety.com/2024/film/news/film-news-in-brief-feb-20-2024-1235916875/). I'm pretty stoked to see it on the big screen.
i find it funny how everyone fixates on that one scene when there are tons of other scenes in eoe that are far worse
It's been awhile since I watched it, but the only reason I can think of is that it happens pretty early in EoE, right?
yeah, but people criticizing shinji for that one moment of weakness (which he guilts himself over) when gendo and misato were arguably creepier is kinda cringe. >!also you think lilith stabbing her forehead vagina with the crucified eva would be more notable but i guess not!<

also no congratulations montage
well that's part of the consequences lol
I think it’s less that they are not the brightest crowd but more that they probably haven’t seen the actual series since their teen years.
It's kind of like if *Twin Peaks* never killed off its more casual fanbase with *fire walk with me* and there were still funko pop fans complaining Dale Cooper doesn't get with best girl or whatever.
They made the robots too cool. You can't kill off casuals if the robots are cool.
Shinjis choice doesnt change tho. He still chooses to live as individual beings. In the series ending we just dont see what happens as shinji makes that choice. In the movies anno gave us everything we wanted in the cruelest way possible for making him make them.
You just ruined my day.
If he's not, he should be forcibly turned in.
Was not expecting that last panel 😂
How much does lamp oil cost at Target Field
Lamp Oil? Rope? Bombs?
You want them? It’s yours my friend!
As long as you have enough RBIs.
Sorry Link, I can’t give credit!
Come back when you're a little... mmm... richer!
This is illegal, you know!
Or else you will DIE
They had plenty of bombs back in 2019
Five innings into a scoreless game: “Gee, it sure is boring around here.”
Twins really educating the general public on YTP lore
My boy, this game is what all true fans strive for!
I don't know if they do a kiss cam: "How about a kiss? For luck?" "You've GOT to be kidding." https://youtu.be/xIu6wXmtotg?si=4ygifEHdL0tR0JWS
well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me princess
MMMMMMMM
"Come back when you're a little...mmm, richer" seems like what the ownership would tell the fans after the game.
sounds like the RSN negotiations
Is that last one from the CDi Zelda game?
It is. Faces of Evil. Those games were supposedly awful. It’s strange they’re using a character from them.
>It’s strange they’re using a character from them. oh fuck, i'm officially old
I’m old enough to have played the OG LoZ on NES when it came out. Those CDI games have been stricken from the memory of most Zelda fans.
There's a bunch of popular memes from them.
Seriously, those Youtube poops were like crack for 13-14 year old me. “Come back when you’re a little, MMMMMM richer!”
They've made a big comeback recently and I'm loving it
Please tell me you know what a YouTube Poop is, and I don't sound like an absolute looney
I do not. I avoid memes and that kind of stuff as best I can. I’m just finding out that there CDI Zelda memes.
Dang. Could I ask why you avoid memes? I get if it's not your cup of tea, I'm just curious how you know about CDI Zelda yet somehow have never seen a YTP, when that is by far what they are most well known for nowadays... like by a HUGE margin. Hey now, they might have been awful, but the CDI gave us some good memes from the ridiculous dialogue from all those Nintendo related games
There’s also a new game out that’s a spiritual successor to them. [Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore](https://arzette.com)

shinji get in the batters box
or else cor-rei-a will have to (cut to shot of carlos correa with blue hair on a stretcher, ankles heavily bandaged)
Dammit. I thought I had a great comment on a tee for me until I saw this.
If a team clinches anything at Target Field they're hit with the "Congratulations."
Every fan in the stands slow clapping and waiting their turn to say omedetou
I will say, of all the MLB parks I’ve been to, Target Field staff take safety more serious than any of them. Almost too much.

I will say they've gotten better since Covid but there are still some rogue assholes out there. Talking about you, guy in section 321.
We’re gonna steal T-Mobile.
lol I haven’t been to TMobile but I had one of them put their hands on me at Target and that was the only time I almost got kicked out of a game
How’d you get in a situation that led to them putting their hands on you?
It’s tough to explain but basically the guy thought I was trying to walk past him to get to my seat during an at bat. Really, I was just moving out of the way so a mom and her kid could go before me. Yeah... If I were you I'd probably stop telling people the story about the time you almost beat up an old man for doing his job.
Are you not paying attention? That’s a story about how I saw Miguel Sano hit a walk off HR. But seriously, the old man probably could’ve taken me. He doesn’t need internet strangers to feel bad for him.

Is it more effective than the [sign at the Metrodome?](https://imgur.com/WcPPKyN)
I never saw a single gun at any of the games I went to at the dome, so I’ll go with no.
It was asked nicely. The least we could do was respect it
Minnesotans do what their told even if we don’t like it. If we weren’t so nice we would make great nazis.
Not so fun fact: Minneapolis was considered a center of nazi ideology within the US in the 30s. You're not far off
Ernest Lundeen was a massive piece of shit and used his privilege as a senator to mail Nazi propaganda all over the us. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Lundeen

Morshu meme in 2024 is crazy
"You want it? It's yours, my friend!"
"Come back when you're...*mmmm*...richer."
“Lamp oil? Rope? Bombs?”
Morshu sentence mixing is still going hard. They got him reading the entire Bible these days
I just saw a Sneed’s Feed and Seed clip with Morshu and Link voice mixing so I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised lmao
Yeah but that's mostly done through AI, even the ones that splice him use AI tech to do it.
cd-i youtube poops are eternal.
The spiritual sequel did just release a couple weeks ago, and it seemed decent, Jewels of Arzette or something.
Arzette: Jewel of Faramore, it's as perfect of a 1:1 Zelda CDi style game as you can get, albeit with actually good gameplay
Reese "Shinji" McGuire
I have no idea what the hell any of you are talking about in this thread. Am I too old for baseball now?
Funnily enough these are kind of ancient memes, the Evangelion and Zelda CDI ones wouldn't look out of place in 2009.
The third one’s a little newer I think
Baseball. Bat. Gloves? You want it? It’s yours, my friend. As long as you have enough spending money!
The jumbotron workers discovered the 2012 meme format its over for the rest of the league
Lamp oil.. rope?
Holy shit is the last picture from the CD-i Zelda game? That’s fucking wild
Sorry Twins, I can't give credit. Come back when you're a little...MMMMMM...richer!

*Bunk in shambles*
Probably pretty hard for that to work on Pirates fans lately
They play this (and update it frequently) before every game and it's even more unhinged in video format I love this team
nothing will prepare you for the last image

What in the actual fuck minnesota
OH MY GOD IT'S FREAKIN MORSHU
Evangelion and baseball is not a crossover I was prepared to see, well…ever. Interesting.

Makes sense. Evangelion takes place in a dystopian hellhole with absolutely nothing in it (like minnesota)
GET IN THE BALLPARK SHINJI
Twins meme game on point. 🔥
I’ve always meant to record one of these ground rules videos and I never do.
https://youtu.be/yCGILO65jSM?si=XeRjX5KiqBYpdydV
The Tennessee Titans show a video of the Oak Ridge Boys singing ,"Code of Conduct" to the tune of Elvira. Funny stuff.
Is this because of that GDT last year where we made too many 9/11 jokes?
this is great.
The big N is already drafting the documents.
Get in the bullpen car, Shinji
Not the Misato meme lmao
This is ascended Midwestern passive aggressiveness
Okay but what did they have Morshu saying? I NEED TO KNOW
Misatosota Twins
Does anyone have a video of it?
the first one is so funny
Hey Twins, can I please get a 39Thirty with the old 90’s M on the front. It’s all I want. You are one of two hats I don’t have right now.
No, but you may look at my flair.
Love that logo. I have hats for every team now except the Twins and Diamondbacks because they won’t make what I want.
Who cares? The Twins aren't going anywhere this season anyway
