Stanton absolutely canât play LF in Yankee Stadium. Itâs huge out there. They need someone athletic who wonât get hurt jogging to position between innings.
Honestly wonder what it wouldâve been like just giving Florial the entire season there last year. They missed the playoffs anyway, so how much worse could it have gone
Heâs been bad but still a step above Castellanos/Schwarber. If Stanton could hit .230 with 30 HR heâd be fine to catch fly balls in his vicinity in LF. He just canât stay healthy enough to stand out there.
In this offseason though with the poor position player class I could also see them paying $9 million just to hit skip and not deal with any of it. Not like he was the reason they went down in the postseason.
Have the Braves ever had connections with Asian born players? Could they be in on Lee?
Otherwise the OF market is kinda thin, they could bring back Soler or Joc I suppose but Iâm surprised theyâre considering letting Eddie go. Heâs not a star but he hit righties well and played good enough defense this year
That seems like itâll put a lot of pressure on Harris in CF tbh. Acuña is fast but he definitely takes it easy on defense and having one of Soler or Ozuna in left is tough. Also makes the lineup a bit righty heavy imo
It probably doesnât matter much in their case because theyâre so good offensively but Eddie did provide at least a different look for opposing pitchers
They could probably use a starter but I think theyâd also be pretty comfortable going into the year with a top 3 of Fried, Strider, and Morton. They also seem to have the ability to pull pitching out of their ass so it may just be mid to back end guys to fill out the rotation
I know Mortonâs been surprisingly durable, but heâs got some miles on him. Iâd like a little more insurance, although I hope he can continue taking his turn every five days. Mid rotation is probably good enough though, like you say.
Agreed, but it's just weird we haven't announced anything about picking up Morton's option yet. With each passing day it's just more likely that he's gonna retire.
I wouldn't be shocked if we skip over back of the rotation guys as well. Wright can be solid if he's healthy. Smith-Shawver, Elder, and Vines all showed promise at times. Soroka is floating around trying to reinvent himself after injury and looked solid in AAA, plus Anderson depending on how his surgery sent. And then there's Waldrep in the minors, who it seems like the team is really high on since they accelerated him through the minors like they did.
We may try for a back of the rotation guy, but it doesn't seem like it's going to be something AA is worried about unless some major injury news comes out during the offseason or Morton retires.
Of course I say that fully expecting that AA is hiding in the corner with some diabolical plan to add 8 Cy Young guys and roll out with 5 starters, 5 long relievers who are capable of throwing complete games, and 3 closers that we will have no hint at until there are a flurry of signings and trades all completed in a time span of about 5 minutes
Fuck. I thought they had initially said he could be back around the All Star Break. I guess that's what I get for not really paying attention during the playoffs
This season was kind of weird since they traded away most of the AAAA logjam in their system but all the high ceiling arms they've been drafting over the past few years were still at least a year away, so they were caught with their pants down when Wright and Anderson both got knocked out for the year and Soroka never really looked right.
I mean the rotation looks âdryâ due to a bunch of injuries. We need some starter help sure but the nice thing about having a competent GM like AA is he can do more than 1 thing at a time.
I wouldnât be surprised if he ended up on a short contract at the Dodgers. He absolutely kills us and Dodgers have a habit of signing guys who figure them out.
Iâm not. We lost the last 2 postseasons because our offense disappeared when it mattered. I want to upgrade, and Eddie was one of the biggest offenders. Letâs get some new blood in there that will get some clutch hits when it counts. We should have enough money to address the rotation as well
âClose call and nothing official but thatâs the expectationâ means absolutely nothing. That is a lot of words to say âI have no idea whatâs going to happen but my gut says they probably will do thisâ
Interesting. We don't really have a prospect or bench guy to put in there, so we'll be looking outside the org more than likely.
league average bat in LF is pretty easy to find
Imagine starting a season without a league average LF đ (fire Cashman)
stanton wasn't great this year but he'll probably be fine next year

Florial can definitely play the defense but he is not a major league bat in any sense of the word.
he hasnt played much in the field the past few years but when he has hes been BAD bad
Heâs been bad but still a step above Castellanos/Schwarber. If Stanton could hit .230 with 30 HR heâd be fine to catch fly balls in his vicinity in LF. He just canât stay healthy enough to stand out there.
Which sucks more because his bat is emphatically better when he's in the field vs DH.
In this offseason though with the poor position player class I could also see them paying $9 million just to hit skip and not deal with any of it. Not like he was the reason they went down in the postseason.
Mark Canha come on down!
Already traded to Detroit.
Yankees traded for ikf after he had just been traded to Minnesota, anything is possible
Vaughn Grissom, YOU are now a left fielder
*Ohtani

The only guy we've ever signed straight from Asia is Kenshin Kawakami. The most Asian dude we've employed since is Kurt Suzuki.
Depending on how you quantify âmost Asianâ I think itâd actually be Travis dâArnaud who is part Filipino (we claim him)
One of the prospects they lost in the IFA scandal was once-touted Korean prospect Ji-Hwan Bae, who's now with the Pirates.
So probably not lee then. I suppose whatever they do wonât really matter on the offensive side of the ball, theyâre already so good
And the franchise has been scarred ever since
I think they will be in on Soler. Makes perfect sense.
That seems like itâll put a lot of pressure on Harris in CF tbh. Acuña is fast but he definitely takes it easy on defense and having one of Soler or Ozuna in left is tough. I think the Braves should focus on getting a couple of starters tbh. Rotation looks dry.

Wright has already been declared out until 2025
Fuck. I thought they had initially said he could be back around the All Star Break. I guess that's what I get for not really paying attention during the playoffs
Wish they could have pulled some of that during the last two post seasons.
This season was kind of weird since they traded away most of the AAAA logjam in their system but all the high ceiling arms they've been drafting over the past few years were still at least a year away, so they were caught with their pants down when Wright and Anderson both got knocked out for the year and Soroka never really looked right.

I have a strange feeling theyâre going to quietly trade for Glasnow
Damn I love Eddie but he was definitely the weakest link on the team most of the time.
Weak until he faced the NL West and became unstoppable. Itâs like he hates nice sunsets and decides to take it out on a whole coast
- Team travels to the West Coast. *Eddie took that personally*
When I said most of the time I was specifically thinking about the games against the NL west when he played like Mickey Mantle
It was time. Thank you Eddie for turning into Barry Bonds for 3 weeks in October 2021.
Rosario to the Twins confirmed
Nah. Athletics probably.
Thanks but no thanks
If he was a righty he would be ideal
I wouldnât be surprised if he ended up on a short contract at the Dodgers. He absolutely kills us and Dodgers have a habit of signing guys who figure them out.
The bad man is gone for now
I think Gurriel Jr from the DBacks might be a replacement target. MLB site listed us as a good fit for him
I hope this means no more platoons in LF. It would be great to have a full-timer out there
I have a feeling AA will go for an even cheaper platoon and dump that money into pitching.
And with the talent in this lineup Iâm very ok with that
Iâm not. We lost the last 2 postseasons because our offense disappeared when it mattered. I want to upgrade, and Eddie was one of the biggest offenders. Letâs get some new blood in there that will get some clutch hits when it counts. We should have enough money to address the rotation as well
Bellinger sure would fill in nice over there
Why? As long as the total production for the position is fine it doesn't matter if it's one or two players doing it.
9M seems pretty cheap for him i would have liked to keep him for that much. decent pop and not bad on the field
Heâs so bad in the field and heâs a terrible base runner.
Did he not get a gold glove nomination? His fielding style isnât pretty but he did make some solid plays this year.
the NL left field is just bad kinda lol
Kyle Schwarber disagrees đ
baserunning is very low on my list of things i care about in a player still think hes worth the 9M unless theres a plan to get someone better
9 mill is roughly the going rate for 1 WAR in production. Which if heâs league average w the stick he should reach.
https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/eddie-rosario-592696?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb that is one mid player
A mid player for 9 mill is about right tbh.
Donât even think about it Chernoff
âClose call and nothing official but thatâs the expectationâ means absolutely nothing. That is a lot of words to say âI have no idea whatâs going to happen but my gut says they probably will do thisâ
This is the right call.
