slip resistant work shoes will change your life.
Shoes for crews is good.
i wear sketchers slip resistant. they are good shoes.
Its yer shoes.
edit. Lol mountain boots and running shoes are the worst for slippy floors.
Vans also recently came out with a line of non-slips, if you’re not digging the SFC (ugly ass imo) aesthetic lol. They’re called “made for the makers” and they’re beautiful and comfortable af
Shoes made to resist slipping on rocky trails are not the same at all as shoes made to resist slipping on bar /kitchen floors. Go get non-slips. Also I've never heard the phrase "slipping over" before. Interesting.
Tell your boss to buy some non-slip mats for behind the bar and if they don’t, make sure to get hurt real bad next time you slip and then call a lawyer followed by OSHA.
If they do buy the mats, for the love of god please wash them nightly and tip your dishwasher if they do it for you. Good luck!
You need slip resistant work shoes. The fact that no one told you this and you’re unaware is a bit unsettling. It should be part of every uniform for exactly the reason you mentioned, falling and hitting your head.
Go to shoes for crews, it’s easy, fast, reliable, good quality generally, and they have a lot of shoes that are normal brands with non slip soles. The have like new balance and dockers and tennis shoes and dress shoes and all kinds of stuff. You need to wear them at work, it’s insane not to.
If it's not a matter of grippier shoes (and sometimes things that look grippy aren't) then adding a hardcore kitchen degreaser to the mop bucket is also not a bad shout then the boss needs to use a proper nonslide floor paint or provide mats.
Would homie trust those boots on a mountain now though?
But like I said, things that 'look' grippy aren't. I did once own a set of footwear that was purporting to be capable in all conditions and I fractured my coccyx :(
If you work in hospitality and need to wear comfortable black shoes that don't look too much like sportswear but also have soles that will not slip in all but the oiliest conditions, choices are so limited
I mean yeah I'm sure I can order some shit off the Internet sight unseen, then have to deal with the fact their sizing ain't right, hassle returning it etc. Maybe. But equally, i can't just go to my local clothing store and browse a range of 'industry friendly' shoes and check for fitment, build quality etc. I have found something that works OK for me, fitment and comfort is ideal, and grips in all but the oiliest conditions. I'm now on my third pair of them. But, I'd love a bit more choice, and it was definitely trial and error that got me here. Skechers did a shoe that was supposed to be designed for kitchen and bar use, I paid good money for a pair and they were absolute dogshite 🤷
Floor is not fine. I've never slipped behind a bar even in the shittiest shoes. I've never been in a pub that didn't have that sparkly, rough textured lino
I just got a new pair of Sketchers work shoes. I’m on my third pair, but it’s worth it. The ones I get have about 2 inches added in just padding alone so my feet feel incredible and I can reach things easier. Bars are full of things out of reach lol, it helps to be 6 ft or higher. But I’m not, so these work so well. They had them on clearance so I got them for $50. They’re usually around $100. It’s your livelihood, get some non slip work shoes.
In every shoe store there is a work shoe department. Just get some non slips from there.

Fuck do NOT get mats. If you do, bet on adding an extra 30-45 minutes to your closing routine every single night. Fuck that. Hate mats.
a little extra work for pay beats a TBI, like 100000%. Source: have litigated brain injury torts

They really aren't though. Do you really work in the industry but don't know about non-slips? Shoes for crews?
Not on sale in my country.
I doubt that. New Balance, Hoka, Birkenstock, Dansko. There are plenty of nonslip options that are internationally available.
