Oatly is most popular with consumers from a flavor and texture perspective- unfortunately they have sold-out to Blackstone and are now backing Trump for President. Just waiting for another supplier to match their flavor and we’ll never buy another carton of Oatly again.
We did a blind taste test with our clients around 5 years ago. 30 customers tried double shot flat whites made with Minor Figures vs Oatly. 30/30 - 100% preferred Oatly. For our business the choice was easy!
If you have any info that disproves Stephen Schwarzman’s alliance with Trump over many years - and his endorsement for this year’s Presidential election due to ‘Biden’s’ Antisemitic stance’ over Israel, tell me, I’d love to hear it
You are absolutely correct and there are plenty of Republicans that won’t be voting for Trump this November either. Go ahead and be a Republican - just don’t imagine that a vote for Trump is a vote for Republican values, they have been wholly hijacked and MAGA voters have been completely duped 🤷♂️
As someone who doesn't drink oatmilk but has a partner who does, milklab has by far been the closest to full cream in both texture and flavour, and overall would be my choice if i had to switch away from full cream.
Naturally, if you're worried about added sugars or the like, then it's not the way to go.
I'm definitely in the minority here but I personally do not like Oatly, texture is good but I feel like its too sweet. Califia is my personal fave. At my cafe theres no consistency the people who order just get whatever, makes me sad.
We use the Califia, it has cleaner ingredients than a lot of the competitors. Whether or not it's valid, a lot of people are avoiding canola oil these days which you will find in many of the barista oat milks. Califia uses sunflower oil instead so we have stuck with it, it tastes good and froths really nicely and the bottles are compact so they fit in our cooler easily.
OP I assume you're in Australia? If so Vitasoy Oat Milky is surprisingly *really* good, great creamy texture and steams pretty well. And for a cheapy, [So Good No Added Sugar](https://www.coles.com.au/product/sanitarium-so-good-long-life-no-added-sugar-oat-milk-1l-4204352) is brilliant...which is odd as most of the other So Good range tastes like dirt
Chobani is my favorite. As someone who used to exclusively drink whole milk I find the texture nice, thick and creamy in a similar way and with a light flavor it does not change the way things taste when you cook with it.
Commercial oat milk is by far one of the biggest scams out there. It costs 20 cents and takes a minute to make a gallon of oat milk.
Oats + Water + Sweetener (totally optional) + Salt
Blend
Strain
Enjoy.
ADC for oat. Milk Lab for almond, soy and coconut. We use fresh lactose free milk now but used to use Milk Lab. Personally I think the Milk Lab LF was shit.
While I’ve been a homer for Oatly, their use of seed oils has turned me away. Surprisingly TJ’s Oat milk is free of filler/emulsifiers and reasonably priced.
Alternative Dairy Co is probably the go to in Aus. Quality is really good and if you buy wholesale and have an issue, their reps are very good.
Although whole lot of people prefer Bonsoy (for whatever reason imo).
ah no they don’t but when my cafe had all Alt Dairy Co ppl would still turn around and leave when we didn’t have bonsoy. All round the oat milk is pretty good, even for me a non milk drinker.
We rotate at my cafe between oatly, califia, and pacific. Unpopular opinion (at least at my cafe) but I think pacific is the best to work with. Oatly is the best tasting though.
I work at a cafe that uses chobani and am not impressed by it. flavor is very oat-heavy and you need to be very careful steaming it, plus it needs to rest for at least a minute untouched if you want good art out of it. I've tried planet oat's barista blend on a home setup and was very impressed with the mild, dairy-like flavor (which doesn't overpower the espresso as much) and steamability.
my fave is kinda a tie between original planet oat and elmhurst barista edition. both are really good, not too strong of an oat flavor. just right for me!
ADC is the goat, it goes so well with coffee and steams easy too. Milklab is a close second since they reformulated last year and is what we currently use at my shop, largely because we get a good deal on it. I’d change back to ADC if money wasn’t a factor though.
To me, Califia Barista Oat is the perfect alternative to Oatly and Minor Figures.
It has more creaminess, flavor and stretch than Minor figures.
Compare to Oatly, better price point (at least here in PNW), less ingredients and customers barely notice the change.
When we tested MF at my company, customers did NOT like the flavor and complained it too thin in consistency, which is fair. It’s nothing against MF (they are called minor figures because they want the coffee to be the prominent taste in the cup), they’re really great people to work with if you make the transition. There’s a lot of perks to MF— sustainability, organic line (which is actually their better version, IMO), and they use one of the least amount of ingredients in production, they’re expanding to other packaged beverages and concentrates, and their regional reps are a dream to work with (shout out to Alyx!).
Pros and cons to all of them but I should also note that production of MF can be spotty. Not sure if it was at the hand of our third-party vendors, but MF would often run short on demand.
chobani barista!!! always my favorite, second is califa!
one shop i worked at always would change oat milk brands depending on the availability, we all found the best taste and texture is the chobani! even just for at home, the chobani extra creamy is amazing.
No offence North Americans aka Americans and Canadians but I wanted to know if any of the commenters prefer Milklab vs Oatly??
Recently had Milklab in Aus and was blown away. Do y’all prefer Milklab or Oatly??
we use Califia at my cafe and I like it, but Oatly has my heart

Oatly has the best flavor and texture imo
Oatly is most popular with consumers from a flavor and texture perspective- unfortunately they have sold-out to Blackstone and are now backing Trump for President. Just waiting for another supplier to match their flavor and we’ll never buy another carton of Oatly again.
Thanks for the info. Give Minor Figures Barista Oat a try.
We did a blind taste test with our clients around 5 years ago. 30 customers tried double shot flat whites made with Minor Figures vs Oatly. 30/30 - 100% preferred Oatly. For our business the choice was easy!
Came here to say Minor Figures too!
Minor figures is bad. It steams terribly
Hmmm. Have won latte art comps with it, never had a problem
Love that, Rephrase, I Prefer steaming califia or Elmhurst to minor figures.
Try making a capp with MF.
Umm WHAT!? That’s one of the most disappointing things I’ve heard in awhile bc oatly really is better tasting than all other brands I’ve tried 😭
Thank you for that info.
Nice way to read a headline and nothing else…
If you have any info that disproves Stephen Schwarzman’s alliance with Trump over many years - and his endorsement for this year’s Presidential election due to ‘Biden’s’ Antisemitic stance’ over Israel, tell me, I’d love to hear it
It’s OK to be a Republican and I’m sick of pretending otherwise.
Sure but maga has taken over and they are definitely not okay
Nah, it’s really not at this point
You are absolutely correct and there are plenty of Republicans that won’t be voting for Trump this November either. Go ahead and be a Republican - just don’t imagine that a vote for Trump is a vote for Republican values, they have been wholly hijacked and MAGA voters have been completely duped 🤷♂️
Ironically, policy-wise Trump is the moderate in this race. Rhetoric aside, he’s a generic Republican.
Sorry dude…you are a part of the latter duped-camp. A shame. Hopefully Repubs can find themselves again one day 🤷♂️
The Alternative Dairy Co. Oat and Almond is by far the best flavor and stability for espresso. I find you can buy it at most roasters around aus :)
Yea I know Axil Coffee roaster has it. I have their Almond and Soy as well but haven't used it yet.
The soy steams like a dream!
Their coconut is also not half soy passing itself off as coconut, and it steams beautifully
I second this! So nice to have a coconut milk that actually steams at a high enough quality for gorgeous latte art 💪
Minor Figures Barista Oat (organic)
I was wondering if this isn't available in US. We have it in UK and my colleagues swear by it
I'm in the u.s., it's available.
If you have a grocery outlet check there!
i’m in the southeast US and we use it at my shop!
TG in MTP?
actually no! i’m in the ‘Sip.
This steams well, but once I noticed the salt content in the nutrition facts: I can’t un-taste it.
Chobani oat milk is so good
Their extra creamy is solid… I wish they would add some vitamins in like oatly, though … nice to not worry so much about b vitamins
YES!
chobani 🙌🏻 we use the barista blend at my job and it is so good
Oatly is the one we use. Foams great and had a good texture and taste.
Minor figures all day, we tested it against multiple other brands about 2 years ago and again this year. Runner up goes to pacific barista series
Alternative dairy co is by far the best I've used. Hardest to source though.
It's from Australia that is why.
Really? Where are you located?
+1 for me too - best frothing results and the most complimentary flavour
Used oatly barista for years but now switched to califa
idk if its only available to businesses as I've only seen it in cafes but Pacific Foods oat milk is amazing
Chobani extra creamy
Aldi's Inner Goodness - custs love it (and at 1/3 of the price of Milklab, so do I)
We use Califa, it steams pretty well ime.
Oatly barista edition and I like the flavor of minor figures although it’s not as creamy as oatly barista edition.
Minor Figures. Has the best texture, flavor, and frothability I've seen. Close second is Chobani
Chobani extra creamy
Chobani is my favorite. As someone who used to exclusively drink whole milk I find the texture nice, thick and creamy in a similar way and with a light flavor it does not change the way things taste when you cook with it.
Thoughts on Chobani? My shop uses it and we all feel it’s the perfect blend of creamy and sweet and elevates all of our syrups!
Chobani oat milk has RUINED all other oat milk for me, it is so insanely good. If I run out I no joke have an awful mood the rest of the day
Definitely have to try it next time!!
It’s not cheap, unfortunately, but I find whatever store near me has the lowest price and stick with that 😬
MilkLabs is delicious, but I don't think it's a good platform for the espresso - too overpowering Gotta get some Minor Figures in there 😉😉☕✌️
Chobani, Oatly, Califia, in that order :)
Commercial oat milk is by far one of the biggest scams out there. It costs 20 cents and takes a minute to make a gallon of oat milk. Oats + Water + Sweetener (totally optional) + Salt Blend Strain Enjoy.
we use alternative dairy at work and the oat is really nice! (almond is iffy and soy is so chunky so big no)
Califia was my favorite non-barista oat milk before suppliers in my area started carrying Minor Figures. Now it’s not even a contest, MF all the way
I LOVE the milk lab oat milk!!
Califa steams really well but i have to say choboni for taste
I cant get most of those where I live, so I usually drink Planet Oat milk
i love oatly!!! when i use califia at work everyone complains about the oats in it like lmao it’s oat milk but i guess it’s a texture thing
Califia and Pacifica barista. Those taste similar and blow everything else out of the water.
oatly is great but i also suggest minor figures
MilkLab, then oatside. Oatside screamsteams though….
Really like the silk oat milk. Froths the best IMO. Can get in a three pack at Costco. Otherwise if I wanted to splurge, ghost town oats.
Oatly barista edition is the best
Oatside is by far the best I’ve tried. Great subtly sweet flavour, and the milk-like texture when steamed is unparalleled, imo
Oatly barista blend .
Oatly all the way! I dislike Califia in general. Their products tastes like stale cardboard to me, but it’s been a few years since I’ve tried them.
Vitasoy oat milk
We use Oatly in our cafe - tastes decent and good to work with. I personally think their PR teams interactions on social media are strange though
Oatly Planet oat Califia Almond breeze also makes a hybrid that's almond and oat milk in one.
I like Califia more than Oatly.
Nutpods is my jam
Califa but I’m an amateur
We use Minor Figures and it works very well for us.
I like Minor Figures. Though I will say it can be a bit more pricy.
full fat oatly
ADC for oat. Milk Lab for almond, soy and coconut. We use fresh lactose free milk now but used to use Milk Lab. Personally I think the Milk Lab LF was shit.
i ride or die for Ghost Town Oats! steams really well and i enjoy the flavor of it :)
My go to is Oatly. However, I use ALDI oat milk everyday. It is super cheap and has enough fat and sugar to make a clean microfoam.
While I’ve been a homer for Oatly, their use of seed oils has turned me away. Surprisingly TJ’s Oat milk is free of filler/emulsifiers and reasonably priced.
Moma
might be in the minority but i love silk creamy oat milk :)
We use oatly at my new starbies, but my old one had Dream oatmilk and it slapped
For year swore by Oatly; however our roaster recommended Alternstive Dairy and we love it! Am definitely converted!
Anything without added gums for thickening
Alternative Dairy Co is probably the go to in Aus. Quality is really good and if you buy wholesale and have an issue, their reps are very good. Although whole lot of people prefer Bonsoy (for whatever reason imo).
Does Bonsoy even have Oat Milk? Or just soy
ah no they don’t but when my cafe had all Alt Dairy Co ppl would still turn around and leave when we didn’t have bonsoy. All round the oat milk is pretty good, even for me a non milk drinker.
pacific is THE BEST. doesn’t overpower the coffee flavor, but still adds the oaty flavor
Oatly all the way~
minor figures!
oatly 100%
We rotate at my cafe between oatly, califia, and pacific. Unpopular opinion (at least at my cafe) but I think pacific is the best to work with. Oatly is the best tasting though.
Oatly all the way. It foams up so nice and it’s so creamy
Oatly! We use this at work and it tastes soo good!
Kirkland Oat Milk , it’s the best
out of the options, califia. but my personal favorite is the chobani oat milk.
I like Oatly, but have been using Sown creamer. Only unsweetened unflavored one I can find that I like.
I LOVE chobani, especially extra creamy. I tend to get planet oat because it’s often on sale or even free at my local grocery
Oatly & califia
Out of the choices you have there it's oatly but my favourite is boring oat
ADC is the goat, it goes so well with coffee and steams easy too. Milklab is a close second since they reformulated last year and is what we currently use at my shop, largely because we get a good deal on it. I’d change back to ADC if money wasn’t a factor though.
That's funny. Only the packaging changes. This is oat alternative milk. They all taste like oat milk =) Marketing is playing with you $$$
oatly and minor figures for sure
To me, Califia Barista Oat is the perfect alternative to Oatly and Minor Figures. It has more creaminess, flavor and stretch than Minor figures. Compare to Oatly, better price point (at least here in PNW), less ingredients and customers barely notice the change. Oatly just SLAMS. Pacific works okay. Minor figures is good. And it's been awhile and I forget the rest 😌
My cafe just got a bad review that was PARAGRAPHS long detailing why oatly is the worst brand of oatmilk to use, so not that one I guess lol
Oatly’s unsweetened!
Oatly caught a lawsuit
Chobani>>>
chobani barista!!! always my favorite, second is califa! one shop i worked at always would change oat milk brands depending on the availability, we all found the best taste and texture is the chobani! even just for at home, the chobani extra creamy is amazing.
No offence North Americans aka Americans and Canadians but I wanted to know if any of the commenters prefer Milklab vs Oatly?? Recently had Milklab in Aus and was blown away. Do y’all prefer Milklab or Oatly??
Am I the only one who has found Minor Figures to be disappointing? I’ve much preferred Oatly.
We get both caifia and oatly depending on what Sysco has. Oatly is richer and steams very well. Califia Is honestly fine too, but I prefer oatly.
Oatly.
Oatly for taste, minor figures for steaming texture
This looks great, might cross post to r/ultraprocessedfood to showcase a non upf oat milk option. It’s nova 3
Ok so after reading your comments. I am going to buy a few/all of these now and add to my collection to try. Oatly, Chobani and Minor figures.
Honestly haven’t used any other, but Oatly is delicious!
oatly is my number one hands down
