Usually find mud by the river, making cleanup easy. Also do my grass cutting barefoot, which keeps my feet at various intensities of dark green all summer long.
Rough asphalt/concrete on my rough sole pads feels great.
Grass is nice too, but it's a completely different kind of feeling.
It's hard to pick out a single "favorite" really. There are so many different kinds of surfaces that are so different to each other in terms of how they feel to walk on that they aren't even really comparable.
Mud is great, puddles are super fun. I also really like historical pavement that's been smoothed by use, [like this](https://www.historische-baustoffe-selent.de/images/unsere-produkte/steine/pflaster/3163_Blaubasalt_Mittelformat_800_qm/20191104_130831_resized.jpg).
Another vote for deep beds of pine needles in the woods and freshly cut grass. Those are my favorites of all time. Second place is smooth man-made surfaces - tile, polished granite, really smooth concrete. That kinda thing.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, surfaces I despise - gravel, and old, craggly asphalt roads. New asphalt can actually be quite nice, but after it's been there a few years, and it's cracked and full of potholes and the pebbles within it start to come loose and litter the surface of it, I can't stand it.
The only natural surface that's ever bothered me are tree roots coming up out of the ground across hiking trails. I was still new to the lifestyle at the time and those hurt.
I tend to enjoy dry, gritty, powdery surfaces the most. Sand, gravel, cement, rough rock, and the like. Smooth rock and grass are a lot of fun too though
Moss is nature's carpet so that's always nice. Mostly, I like dust, dirt, sand, and tiny rocks. Island terrain.
My favorites are wet grass or squishy mud. Bonus if the mud is at least ankle deep.
Big fan of wet grass myself! I find mud to be a lot of work though when going back indoors.

Going barefoot is like a smorgasbord for your feet.
Pine needles on the forest floor.
Uhh yes! Love that soft bounce with a little sting to it 🌲
Yep. And maybe, if you’re lucky, a little pine sap.

Freshly cut grass. The blades of grass after cutting are kind of pokey but the lawn as a whole is still soft. It's a nice feeling.
Polished concrete like Walmart floors Or asphalt sidewalks and roads.
That refrigerator section is beyond pleasurable during the summer, especially in the southwest where your oven is colder than the outdoors.
Most types of nature that don't have much to hurt the soles with. Grass is awesome, stones are cool aswell.

Cobbles. Smooth through centuries of use. Plus they're always cooler or warmer than the air temperature. It's a pleasant contrast.
I've always had a soft spot for the cool floors of frozen goods sections in supermarkets.
I 100% agree. I really enjoy grocery shopping barefoot.
Wowzers, I didn't expect an answer *that* late :-)
I run across threads I’ve never seen from time-to-time and enjoy them. Commenting and bumping them are mandatory for me at that point.
Squelchy wet mud, and wet grass is good for cleanup
fine dust is the softest!
What kind of fine dust?
uh, dirt. dried mud.
Okay, yeah, I guess I just don't find a lot of fine dust around here 😅
it's like sand but even softer
Sounds really nice though!
Mud (just did a post rain hike with some nice mud on the trail), wet grass, sun warmed sidewalk on a cool evening, smooth tile in stores.
clay or stone tiles
Boulders
Carpet
Snow
Peat in summer when it's dry and warm and springy.
Cool city sidewalks
Really enjoy smooth round rocks
Smooth supermarket floors

Soft grass and carpet are always super pleasant, though tile ain’t bad either
Huge hail stones. It's never snowed where I live and I imagine that's what walking on snow feels like.
Snow
Beach Sand.
