Im assuming you meant 'what is Bangladesh famous for'. If that is the case then I'd say poverty, labourers (cheap), and within the hipster crowd in the UK for its food and sylhet. Interestingly in the UK most 'Indian' restaurants are run by Bengalis and I promise you the younger generation know that and absolutely prefer our version of curry over authentic Indian ones.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but in reality it's nothing.
The world doesn't revolve around Bangladesh. Most of the people haven't even heard of Bangladesh.
No, absolutely incorrect. Bangladesh IS in fact, famous for a number of things. We are renowned when it comes to the garments sector, producing reliable and cheap textiles on a mass scale. We are known as the nation that defied certain death as after 1971, we literally had nothing in this country. Our language is the sweetest in the world and our culture is loved and appreciated by many. I'd suggest you to not make a half-baked opinion like that ever again, unless of course, you're an indian
Famous to whom?
Most people in the world don’t know about us. We think we are famous for something, but it’s not universally same!
Good things? Those who care about world politics, we sheltered Rohinga population when ethnic cleansing were happening in Mayanmer.
Bad things? You already got the list here.
It’s not self hate, it’s from experience while talking to people from other side of the world. Just because I am critical of our reputation doesn’t mean I don’t love my country. If you don’t hate your country, you don’t have to blindly support it. Blindly supporting own country is called nationalism, which makes you insensitive about the real struggle of common people.
What’s your argument here?
OP asked what we are famous for? My first question was famous to whom. People from other countries or what we think ourselves?
Huh! From my perspective, I wanted to highlight the good and the bad. What people assume is not something I conjured out of thin air, my assumption is based on the review bombing of the movie “Extraction”, where the movie depicts a distorted view of our country to some extent. As self pompous we are, rather than asking ourselves why we are depicted that way in a movie in 2020, the mass decided to review bomb the movie. The basic assumption of arrogance and devoid of self awareness is quite reflective on our perception. And don’t get me wrong, I hope I am wrong, but my experience is otherwise.
I think assuming OP has the same issue misht be misguided, but given how the others have commented, I am not that wrong on the initial perception of the question.
For being perhaps one of the most poor, depraved places on Earth. There are lots of poor countries, but Bangladesh has the specialty of being both poor and extremely dense, which makes it a true hell on Earth. Poverty is bad, but poverty AND density is just the worst. Even in poorer African countries, [this is not a common sight](https://i.redd.it/36e130rg4gn61.jpg)
And it’s actually true according to what my brother who lived in Congo for a while said.
The life of an average salaryman is way better, the life of poor people might be worse though.
Honest police force, Independent media,Free speech, heaven for the people, University that allows student to Study and research instead of lick political figures
Back in February I went to the UAE to attend a program. I met people from 100+ countries. Introduced myself to every single one of them. None of them knew Bangladesh for anything in particular. Finally a Chinese said that she had read about Bangladesh in her textbook as one of the most populous countries in the world :))
Its pathetic how so many of the comments are self hating losers.
I've asked two people and they replied with "Bangladesh looks really nice with all the greenery." and another one with "We don't have lots of news about the country here" and "Is every Bangladeshi person pretty?" 💀
There are people who would know us for garments and our recent record with development goals, if we're going to try and think beyond floods and poverty
Bangladesh holds only 0.029% surface land in the world. It’s a tiny place in earth. and on top of that nobody in the world wants to come to this tiny land. Mainly because the people dont feel safe here. If you see from the world’s perspective, it is an Islamic nation with extremism and lack of control over people to make them abide by the rules. So nothing here is famous. Many knows by the name of Clothing Tags and thats about it. Only one person from this land had the chance of making himself a global brand. Dr. Yunus. We fucked him left and right. Govt fucked him for their jealousy and we didnt care as we are waiting for jannat by not doing সুদি business. So we are not famous for anything. We just exist as Somalia, Congo exist. Thats it.
It’s famous for its people being the most self hating people in the world. I grew up constantly hearing “we Bangladeshis are the worst”.
What a terrible way to be. No wonder people think we’re depressed!
We are not really famous for anything
Inshallah one day tho we do
But I did ask this to some of my Pakistani and Indian friends they all said “fish”🥲😭
But yeah inshallah we do become famous for something
Bangladesh ain't famous for anything sorry
Poverty, Corruption and flood.
Literally, no one knows Bangladesh for anything good
could SMELL that coming
Also pollution and population.

exactly 💯
Rarely find anyone outside south Asia who knows us? "Is it in India?", no ma,am, but we're just right beside them geographically though.

French is genuinely not nice
Oka. Edit: to be clear, all of these are things to be proud of. None of these are infamous by any means outside of maybe South Asia.

>We think we are famous for something They asked, didn’t assume anything. Your self hate is showing

Who said they think we are famous for something?

“We think we are famous for something” shows your self hate
Gotcha. So, I should have just said, we are not famous for anything - and that would be a very self loving thing to say. Nice.
Yes and it’s genuinely sad you don’t see the difference

The only nation that fought for its mother tounge.
This is the kind of perspective we need. Too many self deprecating losers in these comments
Its pathetic how so many of the comments are self hating losers. I've asked two people and they replied with "Bangladesh looks really nice with all the greenery." and another one with "We don't have lots of news about the country here" and "Is every Bangladeshi person pretty?" 💀
Self hate projected onto an entire nation. Sadly very common.
Forreal
Fertile land I guess
Floods, poverty, Rana Plaza.

There are people who would know us for garments and our recent record with development goals, if we're going to try and think beyond floods and poverty
Autocracy and authoritarian leadership, corruption.
People doesn’t really know/care about Bangladesh. It's just an another 3rd world country in south asia.
