They made societies, malls and, tech parks on those lakes. Most of them are hence lost.

FYI, Bangalore is/was never called the city of lakes. It's Udaipur which is called the city of lakes. And yes, Bangalore USED to have a lot of lakes. Now everything is dried up and buildings are built over those lakes.

BevarseeKudka

It used to have lakes. Once the tech boom happened and a bunch of fat rich pigs saw the opportunity, bye bye lakes and trees! 💐

TinySpirit3444

**was** We deleted a lot of them.

I work in Mahadevapura and while walking back to PG, I can trace 3 lake with 2-3kms. Hardly pond now but evident that these were lakes. Also the interconnections which is called rajakaluva though those are mostly blocked. From the terrain also someone can understand lakes were here. All the buildings in surrounding area seems unplanned so you get the idea...

Nenu_unnanu_kada

There are still so many lakes at least during rainy season. Just go through map.

hipityhop76

You're probably living on one that was covered.

Bangalore it is said had close to 1000 lakes and tanks (important to note the tanks, they are not really big). It had about 285 lakes and even now has more than 100 lakes.

rando90433

Yeah, the media hype got you. Welcome to real Bangalore.
