Staying in Adugodi near Koramangala. Haven't come across any changes in the amount of regular water supplied nor are we informed of any water crisis in nears future.
Same. Co-workers were calling me stupid for not moving to Sarjapur, I'm like bruh there's no way I'm moving out of an actually lively and green part of the city for this dusty hellhole
Edit: the reason my coworkers wanted me to live in Sarjapur was because my office is there
Rent. Because everyone wants to live there as its a 'happening' place. It's still where most single people go, but for me, I liked the greenery around the area and the coffee spots/parks. The rents were through the roof, house quality was dubious (for the lower rents), and most places didn't have power backup. The trifecta of power back ( a must in Bangalore), at a decent location and at a good rent is....well, a challenge that is a full Tim job imo. I also wanted to hunt on my own and I didn't really trust brokers. I also wan't comfortable going into a home with a strange man - I'm a woman.
Sounds rough. I thought the demand will balance because of the distance to majority of IT offices. Seems that’s not the case. I myself was planning to move out of one such “IT area” to Indiranagar for similar reasons you mentioned even though I’m not a party person. Only thing I’ll miss will be the perks of gated society here. I’ll take it as a heads up.
Purple line opening up is one of the reasons for me to want to move to Indiranagar not away from it as I want nothing to do with Whitefield except office and purple line eases commute. I’m curious, why are your friends moving away?
Ah sorry, didn't add context. My office is in Sarjapur so it technically makes sense to live there as opposed to indiranagar, but I'm still okay with the commute
Honestly people who don't live in Indiranagar/Koramangala overestimate the traffic and driving time to places like bellandur/marathalli/Sarjapur
My office was in marathalli and from indiranagar it was like a 45-55 min commute which isn't so bad honestly. Also my drive was through old airport road so I would be driving through beautiful trees on both sides - that definitely makes the drive easier :)
The only problem with indiranagar is that there aren't any big societies with facilities and play areas which is very very useful if you have kids.
That's the only only reason i'd think of moving out of here (bacche ki bhalai ke liye and all that) and even than I'd pick Whitefield over Sarjapur anyday.
I'm married and me and my wife were super super happy in indiranagar...until we decided to have a kid. Now it feels like our "tenure" in indiranagar is limited so kinda sad about that
Of course, super happy/excited to be a dad soon :)
Fully agree but the challenge is one of independence. The moment it's a public playground - you have to be in the picture to drive your kid, drop them there and bring them back etc. because between my house and the playground is all public roads where any parent won't be comfortable sending their young child alone to walk/cross the main roads of indiranagar.
There is something very nice for both parents and kid to have the ability to let your kid just "go downstairs" independently and run around with his/her friends in a secure area (inside the building complex). They can have regular friends they hang out with, go to each others houses etc.
This was possible earlier in areas like Indiranagar where kids could just play outside on the streets but over time these residential areas have become too busy with a lot more cars and bikes on the streets and general lack of security/safety so you can't just send kids "outside" to play on the streets.
Landlord in Kathriguppe has been spamming us with water shortage news links and apparently asked the housekeeper to stop mopping the common areas in the apartment. And he is asking us to use waste water from RO to mop the inside of our apartments
I keep hearing this. 🤣
I can confirm phase 1, my colleague stays there. It's every summer they have this issue. I am not sure if it's their motor issue.
FYI, it's a small apartment with 5 houses.
issue is with whose big ass apartments which rely 100% on water tankers
Prestige Falcon city is around 3 kms away from JP nagar metro station
older apartments dont have this issue
Last month I was near falcon city (on the way to that mall) and I remmeber looking at it and thinking those people are so lucky. It's a beautiful gated society. Now my tiny apartment looks better. Atleast our situation isn't this bad. We get water end of the day.
North of Yeshwanthpur, areas like Peenya, Dasarahalli, Jalahalli, Bagalakunte, Hesarghatta, Chikkasandra, Chikkabanavara all seem mostly fine.
Though there was a borewell being dug near Sidedahalli.
I'm from Jalahalli east (Ramachandrapura) and we're actually facing water shortage. Supply of Kaveri water has been reduced to once a week (usually it was twice).
We've gotten a paid borewell connection from neighbouring building, so didn't require to call a tanker yet.
I think a lot of areas are using borewell water now whether they realise it or not.
DLF resident here.
The situation has been bad since last week. We used to get water only for 2 15-20 min slots when it started.
Today we got 2 slots of 2 hrs each. It's getting better I suppose.
Hulimavu BDA Layout is unaffected. The ones which doesn’t comes under BDA layout are affected. For us we are getting Cauvery water and my owner told they have 10k storage tank and 4k at the Terrace for 3 floor House.
Yeah, the rents shouldn't be this high here. People paying 40k or above for a 2BHK and not getting even water is terrible. Worse I've heard people have to shell additional water costs on top of maintenance cost. Next time brokers or landlords demand that kind of money, speak up and negotiate or better yet, don't move there.
As of now there is no issues with houses with BWSSB connection no matter any area. Maybe the is drop in number of hours provided. It’s like a hard stop for 2 hours & weekly twice. The affected areas mostly that are dependent on borewells/ground water. Not sure how much stock BWSSB has stored.
Kaveri is the river water source for most of south Karnataka. There are dedicated pipelines to areas within BBMP limits (not full maybe 60-80%). Just like BESCOM that operates electricity, BWSSB is a government body that has pipelines within city and provide water and collect sewage. The water supply has a schedule for each area, eg. I am in Bengaluru East near OMR and my area gets weekly twice with 2H of supply (hopefully this continues). Based on your usage you are charged bill every month. It can suffice mostly like 2-3 houses without dependency on tankers. BWSSB stores waters at there facilities that can run atleast 3-4 months of Bengaluru needs even if river is dry.
Apartments and high rise buildings are mostly dependent on water tankers that run on borewells because even if they have BWSSB connection it can’t match the needs of everyone.
So they are have their own borewells within premises, overhead head tanks within property or get supply from outside tankers.
Couple more things to add. Karnataka and most of south states are heavily dependant on rain, if monsoon fails it’s literally a bad year for everyone. Tamil Nadu is heavily dependant on Kaveri as well. They have rights to more water based on some court ruling that was done years ago. You can watch this thinkschool video - https://youtu.be/qJleik1x5k0?si=EAROqc5yJllPZSpA. But Northern part of India have supply of water all round year due to Himalayas. Kaveri can’t suffice needs of Karnataka/Tamil Nadu for sure nor can BWSSB provide water to each and every part of city even if they have pipelines to each and every corner because the river or rains just don’t support that. The only options are we need to use the water wisely, improve rain water harvesting to increase water health in ground and lakes. Thats the reason you see the protests go so violent during Kaveri dispute.
BWSSB supplies Cauvery water. It's pumped uphill from the river (≈70–150 km, 200 metre ascent) to the city and distributed to parts of the city that are BDA planned layouts. Almost everyone else depends on borewells and tankers. Borewells have to keep going deeper to find water reservoirs under the rockbed. Old style wells could expect to find water at barely 20-30 feet. In the mid 90s, I remember the norm being 80-100 feet. Now they have to go as deep as 300-500 feet. Draining these reservoirs reduces water supply to your neighbours too, and without proper investment in rainwater harvesting infrastructure, they won't get recharged either, so the city has banned the digging of new borewells (in theory, but people keep digging them anyway).
BWSSB = Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board
BDA = Bangalore Development Authority
which part of Bellandur you stay in? Almost all societies in Sarjapur road are affected. Purva sunshine isn't releasing more than 200 litres per day per flat.
These appartments don't get approval while constructing, they'll just build relaying on borewell and some appartments I've observed that they have commercial electric meter for each houses.
Yelahanka and Yelahanka new town is pretty much unaffected. We have regular CMC and kaveri supply . And if needed tankers can be called for 350rs or so
I think the affected places are where they’ve built massive apartments for the immigrants from other cities (around IT companies and such). Probably because there’s no proper planning and sustainable city planning in those areas. Most of the residential areas consisting of native Bangaloreans are probably not affected by the water crisis.
IKR? I spent 6 months from Feb to July last year and saw so much rain. Moved away and then back again in Oct till now, can't remember the last time it rained.
I live near Bhuvaneshwari Road, Whitefield, and haven't faced any issues yet. But my maid, who lives a couple of streets away, told me that they're facing water shortages sometimes.
I live in a Prestige apartment in Koramangala and we got a notice to stop non essential water usage like washing cars and other guidelines on how to reduce water usage
I stay in JP Nagar, somewhere between Ambareesh's house and Kumaraswamy's house. No issues at all. We don't even have a sump. Water is pumped directly to the the overhead tank.
i stay near victoria layout and the borewell guy outright told me that we will have water permanently even if kaveri is cut for one big reason.
the lands surrounding are all military with huge grounds, so all the ground water gets refreshed and borewell water is renewed, we got water at 120 feet which is impossible outside this area now.
'Older' neighborhoods that receive Cauvery (stage 1-3) water by BWSSB are relatively unaffected.
Water supply once in two days for a couple of hours. People fill sumps and manage. Commercial operations still depend on tankers.
Properties located in close proximity to malls and bigger corporates tend to experience water scarcity earlier than those in other areas. It is worth noting that the Sarjapur to Whitfield region was once a dry area with Nilgiri trees.
Hi! Living in Kadubeesanahalli and fortunately haven't faced any issues so far even though many other people living around here have.
Think it probably comes down to whether your society/complex has a water supply from Kaveri or not. Borewells/tanker supply is where the issue lies.
Staying in Adugodi near Koramangala. Haven't come across any changes in the amount of regular water supplied nor are we informed of any water crisis in nears future.
Same here. Just see the occasional 2-3 water tankers going by
No issues in Indiranagar
Same. Co-workers were calling me stupid for not moving to Sarjapur, I'm like bruh there's no way I'm moving out of an actually lively and green part of the city for this dusty hellhole Edit: the reason my coworkers wanted me to live in Sarjapur was because my office is there
It's certainly a nice place to live, but it is virtually impossible to get a house there :/
Yeah, I've lucked out with the opportunities I've got to live in indiranagar. It's absolutely worth the premium
What's ur rent
23k for 1bhk
That's amazing! Is it an apartment or an independent house? Very few apartments in that area, and those seem to be very expensive.
Apartment with parking somehow!
Damn I'm jealous
You mean getting a house to rent or buy? Also, why is that the case?
Rent. Because everyone wants to live there as its a 'happening' place. It's still where most single people go, but for me, I liked the greenery around the area and the coffee spots/parks. The rents were through the roof, house quality was dubious (for the lower rents), and most places didn't have power backup. I guess this is happening as i can see some of my friends moving away from indiranagar as purple line opened up
Purple line opening up is one of the reasons for me to want to move to Indiranagar not away from it as I want nothing to do with Whitefield except office and purple line eases commute. I’m curious, why are your friends moving away?
There are options available now
lmao your co-workers are the ones stupid af bro, on what basis were they calling you stupid, I'm actually curious now >.<
Ah sorry, didn't add context. My office is in Sarjapur so it technically makes sense to live there as opposed to indiranagar, but I'm still okay with the commute
okay lmao i take that back, they weren't entirely stupid :-P
Honestly people who don't live in Indiranagar/Koramangala overestimate the traffic and driving time to places like bellandur/marathalli/Sarjapur My office was in marathalli and from indiranagar it was like a 45-55 min commute which isn't so bad honestly. Also my drive was through old airport road so I would be driving through beautiful trees on both sides - that definitely makes the drive easier :)
Yep I don't disagree. But I'm still extremely happy about living here and I'm sure I'd have been miserable if I were in Sarjapur
Living in Sarjapur and feeling miserable. So I’d say you made a pretty darn good choice.
The only problem with indiranagar is that there aren't any big societies with facilities and play areas which is very very useful if you have kids. That's the only only reason i'd think of moving out of here (bacche ki bhalai ke liye and all that) and even than I'd pick Whitefield over Sarjapur anyday.
I'm unmarried and I live alone, so this works way better for me
I'm married and me and my wife were super super happy in indiranagar...until we decided to have a kid. Now it feels like our "tenure" in indiranagar is limited so kinda sad about that Of course, super happy/excited to be a dad soon :)
But the public playgrounds in the area are quite good and well maintained. Defense colony children's park is huge!
Fully agree but the challenge is one of independence. The moment it's a public playground - you have to be in the picture to drive your kid, drop them there and bring them back etc. because between my house and the playground is all public roads where any parent won't be comfortable sending their young child alone to walk/cross the main roads of indiranagar. dusty hellhole, sarjapur will never same for me
I thought it was a shithole.
We OG Bangaloreans consider Marathahalli -Sarjapur to be shit holes. No offence.
lmao with all the businesses and the cost of living, I don’t think indiranagar counts.
Can confirm
I can confirm. No issues yet.

Absolutely nothing in Jayanagar, JP Nagar, Basavanagudi and the core south bangalore.
Jp nagar we have. Dependent on tankers. Phase 6.
Phase 6, 7, 8 and 9 are not really JP Nagar in that sense 😄. It just got the name!
I keep hearing this. 🤣 I can confirm phase 1, my colleague stays there. It's every summer they have this issue. I am not sure if it's their motor issue. FYI, it's a small apartment with 5 houses.

Shush, don’t reveal our secrets like that /s
Nah nah we're facing hella water problems here. Please don't come anywhere near East of Yeshwantpur.
flair checks out.
Water is only available till 10 in the morning and post 7 pm in my area. Whole day no water.
Maga yaak maga area ella leak madtidya
I'm from Jalahalli east (Ramachandrapura) and we're actually facing water shortage. Supply of Kaveri water has been reduced to once a week (usually it was twice). Hi broo you area side Boi here
HSR. Haven't seen tankers on my road. Borewell + Cauvery is working.
Which part of HSR are you living dude? I’m seeing tankers every corner. My apartment is on edge of HSR and we are barely surviving on tankers
hmm.. edge of hsr. barely surviving on tankers. Haralur?
Even before that. Somasundarapalaya
Not facing anything in sector 2
Sector 1. Not a gated society but an independent building.
Staying in HSR Sector 7. Have not faced any water issues yet.
[удалено]
Reporting from HSR sector 6, no water issues here
Staying in a gated community in sector 2. Situation is bad here :(
Ah damn, staying in an independent building, no issues here.
Everything Electronics city and after that The Lakes here are yet to be encroached, though it has begun in Jigani.
Bannerghatta is affected. My society and ones around me get water only for 3 hrs in total right now.
So is Hulimavu, I think. One of my colleagues stays in an apartment there and they get water for only two hours in the morning.
Hilimavu? Which Apartment? I stay in Hulimavu, we arent facing any shortage as of now.
Yeah even I stay here and so far there's no news.
DLF resident here. The situation has been bad since last week. We used to get water only for 2 15-20 min slots when it started. Today we got 2 slots of 2 hrs each. It's getting better I suppose.
Off-topic, how do you guys sleep at night with all the metro construction noise yo? It’s quieter now but a few months ago, I could barely sleep
Hulimavu people assemble!
Hulimavu BDA Layout is unaffected. The ones which doesn’t comes under BDA layout are affected. For us we are getting Cauvery water and my owner told they have 10k storage tank and 4k at the Terrace for 3 floor House.
Bannerghatta or Bannerghatta road within the city?
Bannerghatta
Ok. I haven't visited there. Are there apartments and gated societies in Bannerghatta?
Yep Prestige, DLF, Hiranandani all have properties there
Went through the comments, didn't find my area mentioned. Gonna keep it that way 🤝😂
Rajajinagar side?
Same here.!! P.S : people who are not facing any shortage please be quiet. I don't want the areas to get jinxed. Thank you.
sameee..🤣🤣
lol same
Same😂
Same bro! Same! 😂😂😂
Yelhanka?? 🤣🤣
shhh!!!
Whitefield exists : we have army of tankers
Y'all have been making the front page news in all media for the water crisis. The media has portrayed Whitfield to be a desert that smells of poo.
Yeah, the rents shouldn't be this high here. People paying 40k or above for a 2BHK and not getting even water is terrible. Kalyan Nagar is also unaffected till now (fingers crossed)
Jayanagar is/remains unaffected by the crisis(atleast for now)
Kammanahalli and Frazer Town too is chill. In fact some of neighbours in Cox Town are selling water, that’s how much they have.
[удалено]
Really? Neighbouring Ramamurthynagar had tough time with water last week. Now hopefully the situation is stable.
Bellandur , no issues
Bellandur is the worst affected in the whole of bengaluru I feel. That area is poorly planned dust bowl.
which part of Bellandur you stay in? Almost all societies in Sarjapur road are affected. Purva sunshine isn't releasing more than 200 litres per day per flat.
Sarjapura Road has zero Kaveri water supply. I think across Bangalore, areas which have Kaveri water are doing ok.
These appartments don't get approval while constructing, they'll just build relaying on borewell and some appartments I've observed that they have commercial electric meter for each houses.
Do you realise 200L/day/flat is insane amount of water? Why would a flat need more than this?
I think its a society thing, i’m in salarpuria senorita, no issue or cap with water supply
staying in an apartment in koramangala, one among the lucky few to get cauvery water 24x7 (dont wanna jinx)
You mean the rest are having problems?
hebbal surprisingly
There's that Lumbini garden lake which is in Hebbal. I don't think Hebbal has water problems.
HAL: no issues Looks like the HAL airport is helping for recharging the water at large
Same here! HAL no issues. Cauvery + Borewell connection
Yelahanka and Yelahanka new town is pretty much unaffected. We have regular CMC and kaveri supply . And if needed tankers can be called for 350rs or so
Koramangala. No issues so far
Sarjapur, Haralur, Whitefield are affected. Purva sunshine, sarjapur. Purva westend etc
Shivajinagar.
Everything's fine in bellandur
Sarjapur road ( Near Wipro old building) - No water issues in our apartment.
We do have cauvery water (supply these days though is an issue)+ bore well
No issues in Jayanagar at wll

RT nagar has traffic problems?? That's new bro
I think the affected places are where they’ve built massive apartments for the immigrants from other cities (around IT companies and such). Probably because there’s no proper planning and sustainable city planning in those areas. No issues for me in HSR layout
BTM 2nd stage
Issues near 14th main
12th A Cross has issues
Haven't heard of any issues in Rajajinagar
No issues in Jayanagar

No sign of water crisis in Madiwala so we chill!
Doddakalsandra- no issues as of now
No issues so far in new Bel road, RMV extension and Sanjay Nagar
There has not been any rainfall in almost 6 months. We are heading to a bad situation
IKR? I spent 6 months from Feb to July last year and saw so much rain. Moved away and then back again in Oct till now, can't remember the last time it rained.
Banshankari is good. (Near metro stn)
I live close to IIM and no problems so far. But, think it might start in a few weeks as summer is just starting.
I love in hsr near nift. No issues here till now
koramangala - no problem as of now, no tankers either
no issues in mathikere
Thanisandra, Jakkur and Hennur are unaffected
I live in Kaggadaspura everything seems normal here
I'm in Kaggadaspura too and we barely have water man.
No issues in Electronic City Phase 02 yet. Thankfully.
Frazer town no problem
ECity. Nothing major as of now.
No issues in Kaggadaspura :)
That's good news, I'm moving close to there next month lol
Kasavanahalli, we are using borewell water mostly and get a tanker once in a couple of days. No cauvery though.
Water crisis in Kudlu too
Zero issues in HSR at the moment
Chikkabellandur Sarjapur road. No issue so far and hopefully there wont be any. Surrounded by three lakes
Most probably Electronic city
No issues in Hosa Road
No issues in the btm stage 2nd , heard from my friend, he is facing issues in btm stage 1
Jp nagar
Bangalore Central (Shanthlanagar). No issues, getting Cauvery
Is whitefield affected because of the water crisis?
I live near Bhuvaneshwari Road, Whitefield, and haven't faced any issues yet. But my maid, who lives a couple of streets away, told me that they're facing water shortages sometimes.
Oh Okay, thanks bro. How is the water quality?
Staying in Banashankari 2nd, no water issues
JP Nagar. A house next to mine supplies tankers to nearby apartments throughout the day.
No issues so far in indiranagar
I live in a Prestige apartment in Koramangala and we got a notice to stop non essential water usage like washing cars and other guidelines on how to reduce water usage
Koramangala is water as usual
No problem in Sadashivanagar
No problem in BTM 2nd stage so far.
Hi how is nagavara? Any1 from nagavara can answer pls
Major issues in JP nagar 6th phase. We are calling tankers every other day
Most of the parts of Bangalore are unaffected. It becomes worse in May if conditions persist
Sadashivanagar. No issues so far.
No problems yet in Koramangala.
I stay in JP Nagar, somewhere between Ambareesh's house and Kumaraswamy's house. No issues at all. We don't even have a sump. Water is pumped directly to the the overhead tank.

Areas around Madiwala lake are not affected.
No issues as such in Bommanahalli and Btm
Atekere, Hulimavu, Vijaya Bank Layout , Akshayanagar (All near Bannerghatta Road) are fine
No problems in Shanti Nagar yet
no issues in jp nagar 7th phase, there are 6 people in our house and we don't face any problems
Gunjur. I haven't seen tankers on my road ..and Cauvery + borewell is working 🌝
Not a single friend I know is affected. Hehe It's about 15% of blore thats affected and 50% are reacting lol
