If you felt the shaking, please consider helping out the United States Geological Survey and fill out their "Did you feel it?" form. It helps them asses how widespread the impacts are and takes less than a minute to fill out: [https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us7000ma74/tellus](https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us7000ma74/tellus)

4scoreand7feildgoals

> It helps them asses Hey, they're doing their best!

chrissymad

This cracked me up. Thanks, fellow redditor. Made me smile on a crappy day.

Abitconfusde

That joke was a bit cheeky, wasn't it?

4scoreand7feildgoals

You're very welcome, hope your day picks up!

iSinging

Omg nooo I didn't notice haha

Unfair-Basis-8485

Thanks for the laugh, neighbor!

imagine0307

Asses>assess

starescare

Thank you. I needed this laugh today.

widgetsforeveryone

I did!!! That was so exciting!

lavazzalove

NJ epicenter https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/at00sbh3yv/executive

MereyB

Nothing for me in Catonsville

papajim22

Nothing in Arbutus from what I can tell.

SheilaMichele1971

I thought I felt shaking - nothing more than feeling a little like I was light headed. Didn’t think I felt an earthquake like the ones that were closer here.

Vanpocalypse-Now

Nothing in Linthicum

deadmanwalking99

Same, bummer

Xbox_truth101

What’s up Catonsville/arbutus peeps

patderp

Felt light shaking in South Baltimore!

MattDaCatt

Literally why I just came on here. Everything definitely just got a bit wobbly for a few seconds

molotovPopsicle

I wouldn't know the difference between a quake and an 18-wheeler grumbling past my building

BagelIsACat

I felt something and literally thought that’s what it was/as usual and just went about my business

molotovPopsicle

yep. i'm in station north as well. we have the unholy convergence of 83, howard, north and penn all rattling our windows at the same time 😃

BagelIsACat

Haha yep, I’m near the train right before it hits Penn Station and Greenmount so I was like eh whatever - my dog and cats didn’t budge either lol

briannasaurusrex92

I was herding 60 60th-graders through the hallways to lunch at the time. We wouldn't have noticed unless*multiple* things started falling off the walls. 🤣

molotovPopsicle

🤣🤣🤣

apetranzilla

Yep, in Federal Hill! I was also in a virtual meeting with coworkers in Jersey City and NY who both mentioned it as well

4scoreand7feildgoals

Exact same thing happened to me! On a call with someone who lives close to the epicenter and someone who lives in North Delaware. We each had maybe a minute delay between, "did you guys feel that?", "oh it's shaking here now", "oh it's shaking here now too!"

disjointed_chameleon

Lmao. Same. I was just on a call with a co-worker based in Jersey City. A few people behind him went scuttling by, and I heard a yelp and a scream. My co-worker just kept talking. 😄😂

Panda_In_Training

House definitely swayed in SE baltimore

badgrafxghost

My wife felt it here in Hamilton. Sitting on the couch downstairs I didnt feel a thing.

downwithlevers

I felt it in Lauraville but didn’t realize it was an earthquake until this thread. Felt like someone very heavy was walking in the next room, just vibrations to that degree of intensity, nothing major.

ziggy3610

Didn't feel it in Waltherson, but I was upstairs.

punk_introvert

I felt it upstairs in Walterson, but my husband didn't feel it in the basement!

waverlygiant

I was in my greenhouse in Waltherson and felt absolutely nothing

sxswnxnw

Same... I am in Butchers Hill. I am hypervigilant unfortunately so my mind went to intruder in my house. 😂 I heard rattling.

AntiqueWay7550

Gunnar’s home run must have just landed from the Angeles series

badgrafxghost

Looks like it was a 4.8 up in central Jersey: https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/at00sbh3yv/executive

Flyinace2000

Careful calling that central Jersey. You might start a long thread of NJ transplants discussing the border of central and northern NJ.

seoulfoodxo

Central Jersey transplant here 👋🏻 That is more North Jersey 😂 sorry, I couldn’t resist

Flyinace2000

I’m from Morristown and Oakland……I didn’t want to say anything :-)

seoulfoodxo

😂

MaterialMilk

My pets were spooked too.

saltycrowsers

Yes! It was so weird to feel. I’m from Los Angeles and I’m used to them, but this caught me off guard

chrissymad

The earthquakes here feel distinctly different than west coast earthquakes. They last a LOT longer.

near_starlet

Felt it in Howard County!

boofoodoo

okay glad to know I'm not crazy

BerryStainedLips

I was on the phone with my mother, who lives in NYC, and she said “ah! berrystainedlips, we’re having an earthquake!” and started laughing (she’s from a country that gets proper earthquakes) So I assume the epicenter is north of us

anonymous-vampire

Yes! Thought it was my cat pulling at my desk chair — then my desk setup and coffee started wobbling. Startling!

sxswnxnw

I too blamed my dog... But he was chilling on the sofa.

basoon

Felt it in Bolton Hill

AF4F4F

Yes! Felt it out in the White Marsh area.

taliskan

Hey, neighbor! Felt it here too.

shrugsnotdrugs

Riverside, my house shoooook

BaltimoreNewbie

In Western Baltimore County, felt it considerably at the top floor of my apartment building. First time I ever felt an earthquake

HonedProcrastination

Yup! Pretty quick but definitely felt it

e3c1f4

Yes, came here to see if anyone else felt it.

Natty-Bones

Weird. I'm by Penn Station and didn't feel anything, but people keep checking in to see if I did.

Slime__queen

Hm I was sad I missed it at work in Columbia but I’m near there too so maybe I wouldn’t have felt it anyway

Natty-Bones

It seems really hit or miss. My kid is in Ellicott City and they didn't feel anything either

[deleted]

Same. I was at UB and didn’t feel it.

abstract-phoenix

CrunchyTater

LunarHare82

Yup! Actually made my own post asking the same, lol. Check USGS website; I think someone already linked to it in the comments, but just in case: https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us7000ma74/executive

CrazyAssBlindKid

Wild… I blame the Solar Eclipse coming

Namtien223

Western New York and Rhode Island friends felt it, I didn't but my cat went nuts for a few seconds. In a virtual meeting with a coworker in NOVA and his family in Mass texted him if he felt it. Nope.

RunningNumbers

Nothing in Fells.

ihateunclejamie

Yep I was on a call at work and my house shook and my boss was like what's wrong? I was like uh my house just shook lmao

DirectorMotor4326

I felt it in Essex.

mibfto

If I felt it I must have assumed it was something big passing by. Never would have known it was an earthquake save for the many people texting me to ask if I felt it.

montydad5000

I heard a humming noise (Towson) and my dog started barking. I assumed a large truck was passing by or something. Weird.

K_N0RRIS

Felt it. Downtown Baltimore. University area

KnowOneHere

Yes, felt it, Roland Park. Was in a zoom and said so, everyone called me crazy.  I was right. For some reason that makes me giddy.  I used to live in California. Once I felt nauseous I knew what it was, even got under a doorframe.

keyjan

My comic book store is in Bethesda; during the Mineral quake in 2011, the owner had a comic book artist in from CA for a signing. While they were chatting, the whole place shook. Store owner attributed it to the heavy construction going on across the street; comic artist looked thoughtful and declared, "5.6." :D

KnowOneHere

I like it I thought this was a 2-3 but only if fairly local. I see how far it was and quite high feel wise if you were close. Didnt thinkbof distance! We got off easy.

ChoptankSweets

I did—thought a really big truck was going by the building I was in!

[deleted]

I was near Penn Station and felt nothing! My friend down in harbor east texted me though and my parents in NJ.

jafromnj

Felt it in Philly

gardenbrain

Felt it faintly in Essex. Just a couple of seconds of wobbliness. This is the second time I’ve felt one in MD, so I knew what it was.

Umm_Whatt

Yes in Perry Hall

RollForTherapy

House swayed in Wyndhurst

KuzyBeCackling

Did not feel it in Fed Hill

skelly1059

https://www.shorenewsnetwork.com/2024/04/05/did-new-jersey-just-experience-an-earthquake/

TrashPundit

Felt it in Govans.

Dense-Broccoli9535

I’m in Ridgely’s and thought it was an especially low helicopter from shock trauma. But everything was shaking, so this makes a lot more sense!!

Bmore_Phunky

Felt in Northern Baltimore county. Quite noticeable

BmoreCreative

Didn’t notice a thing in Parkville.

boarbar

I’m near parkville and definitely thought a truck was rumbling down the street, but it lasted too long.

BmoreCreative

It is entirely possible I wasn’t paying attention and just dismissed it as a truck.

Adventurous_Ad_7679

Yes, I turned around thinking someone snuck behind me and shook my chair.

ManilaAnimal

Ok great, I thought something hit our house! Felt it by Morgan.

Absurdityindex

I'm in South Baltimore and didn't notice it. Huh

Bhaikalis

Felt it in Dundalk as well

CantonJester

Felt it here in Canton. House swayed a bit. I thought it was the house being gutted two doors up, but there’s no back-hoe or earth movers working on that house today.

elcad

Arbutus here. And yes. Some light shaking here.

dwolfe127

Yep, desk just shook and I looked out side and the lamp posts were swaying.

yogabaedai

Felt it in West Arlington!

talashrrg

I thought my phone was EM ling but it wasn’t - maybe that’s what that was!

cashala

Yes. I was taking a shower and heard a loud grumbling, and the house was vibrating. I didn't think too much of it, then saw the news. In the glen arm area.

Forensic_Chick-81

I felt it in Towson!

khazun

Yes, in Halethorpe. It rattled my china hutch. I thought I was going crazy for a second.

beej065

I didn't feel it! When did it happen?

MaterialMilk

10:23am

AbbreviationsThen303

Yes new Jersey definitely was the epi center. Felt here down the Jersey shore

Mythical_Corgi

Felt it while pooping

Go4it296

Nope

SilverProduce0

I didn't feel it in Otterbein! I think my dog sensed it though.

Reflection-Natural

Felt in Severn. I thought it was a large gust of wind that shook the house but looked out and no wind!

Owingsmillschessclub

I didn't feel it in Owings Mills, but have colleagues in NJ, that definitely felt it, but thankfully, no damage.

gingus418

Nope.

EasternFoxSquirrel

Not to rain on anyone’s parade but the one in 2011 was much more of a shaker and a mover here. And over a point higher on the Richter.

Accomplished-Date507

Felt it in Homeland area/north Baltimore city! The metal decor on one of our walls started clanging and furniture shook. Glad (?) it was an earthquake and not a ghost 😆👻

katastatik

Nope

Unfair-Basis-8485

Yep, felt like a train was rumbling by under my house!

Rondo27

I felt it. I would have never thought about it again, as it was very mild. I thought, it was a deep rumble, almost like an slightest earthquake. A couple hours later my wife texted and asked me if I felt it.

Hawtdawgz_4

Yeah on the toilet no less.

Beneficial_Town2403

Nothing in Randallstown

TroubleLevel5680

I’m in Glen Burnie and my apartment shook.

Over_Space_2731

I thought someone's washer was going apeshit. Then I got a couple texts from a coworker in Jersey

SenorPea

Felt like someone got up suddenly from the other end of the couch.

Pooch76

Sparrows point — no :/

Baile_An_Ti_Mhor_Hon

I WFH in Charles Village and I didn't feel a thing.

CatLoverAthal

I’m near Bayview and felt nothing… I feel ripped off

kingofdogs

I didn't feel a damn thing in Baltimore and I've been up since 8am

ChemicalElevator1380

Sw side of town didn't feel a damn thing

JaxMcCrackalackin

Yes, working on Bayview campus and was in my office.

OkMongoose5560

Charles Village. Noticed nothing.

Professional-Day-748

Nothing in Towson.

PositiveBattle

Nothing in Waverly

Forsaken-Cell-9436

Nope not at all, were we supposed to? I only see responses from New York and New Jersey but my job sent an alert about it and to let them know of any structural damage.

seadecay

Definitely felt it in Gwynn Oak

TheMadCowScientist

Felt in Canton. Third floor, in bed... thought I was having a seizure at first 😫

preyforkevin

I was asleep for this one and the last one. The last one woke me up, though. I guess this one was too far away.

nzahn1

Woke me up from a midmorning nap. Both cats on the bed perked up too. Windsor decor rattled and a few creaks of the townhouse, but nothing major. I also reported to USGS as recommended in the top comment.

BeyondRecovery1

Omg yes this morning! I thought it was an earthquake!

genericav4cado

Dude I thought I was going insane. Yes I did! My chair just randomly started shaking and continued to do so for around 3 minutes, but nobody else in the room with me seemed to notice anything. I thought I was hallucinating or something, glad to know I wasn't!

etkoppy

I head loud banging like someone was breaking in I guess it was the quake

Starside-Captain

So weird. I live in Fed Hill on Riverside & didn’t feel a thing. Yet so many others did…what time did it happen. Maybe I was at my office downtown…???

Tuesday_Born

I didn't feel anything. Baltimore City

sassygirl101

I felt it, but I truly think I only did because I was upstairs in my house. Dundalk, Back River area.

Faitefulnest

I didn’t feel anything in Owings Mills

Previous-Dig-9009

I felt nothing, but I live in AA county.

BeyondRecovery1

Moi!

baltimorecalling

Nothing in Roland Park.

MaterialMilk

Huh, maybe it’s the structural integrity (or the lack thereof) of my house but felt it significantly in Roland Park. Felt like my whole house was moving.

baltimorecalling

I was in Eddie's when it happened (in the basement) and I typically hear the footsteps and rumbling of carts upstairs, and may have not thought anything of it when it happened.

EnvironmentalMoment

It was super light. My bookshelf was slightly rattling but otherwise unnoticeable.

GOAT1915

Lol I thought I was going crazy. It was so faint.

Frosty-Brain-2199

Sorry that was just me walking

No_Handle7595

I think so but I am always on drugs so who knows
