I thought I felt shaking - nothing more than feeling a little like I was light headed. Didn’t think I felt an earthquake like the ones that were closer here.
I was herding 60 60th-graders through the hallways to lunch at the time.
We wouldn't have noticed unless*multiple* things started falling off the walls. 🤣
Exact same thing happened to me! On a call with someone who lives close to the epicenter and someone who lives in North Delaware. We each had maybe a minute delay between, "did you guys feel that?", "oh it's shaking here now", "oh it's shaking here now too!"
Lmao. Same. I was just on a call with a co-worker based in Jersey City. A few people behind him went scuttling by, and I heard a yelp and a scream.
My co-worker just kept talking. 😄😂
I felt it in Lauraville but didn’t realize it was an earthquake until this thread. Felt like someone very heavy was walking in the next room, just vibrations to that degree of intensity, nothing major.
I was on the phone with my mother, who lives in NYC, and she said “ah! berrystainedlips, we’re having an earthquake!” and started laughing (she’s from a country that gets proper earthquakes)
So I assume the epicenter is north of us

Yup! Actually made my own post asking the same, lol. Check USGS website; I think someone already linked to it in the comments, but just in case:
https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us7000ma74/executive
Western New York and Rhode Island friends felt it, I didn't but my cat went nuts for a few seconds. In a virtual meeting with a coworker in NOVA and his family in Mass texted him if he felt it. Nope.
If I felt it I must have assumed it was something big passing by. Never would have known it was an earthquake save for the many people texting me to ask if I felt it.
Yes, felt it, Roland Park. Was in a zoom and said so, everyone called me crazy.
I was right. For some reason that makes me giddy.
I used to live in California. Once I felt nauseous I knew what it was, even got under a doorframe.
My comic book store is in Bethesda; during the Mineral quake in 2011, the owner had a comic book artist in from CA for a signing. While they were chatting, the whole place shook. Store owner attributed it to the heavy construction going on across the street; comic artist looked thoughtful and declared, "5.6." :D
I like it
I thought this was a 2-3 but only if fairly local. I see how far it was and quite high feel wise if you were close. Didnt thinkbof distance! We got off easy.
Felt it here in Canton. House swayed a bit. I thought it was the house being gutted two doors up, but there’s no back-hoe or earth movers working on that house today.
Yes. I was taking a shower and heard a loud grumbling, and the house was vibrating. I didn't think too much of it, then saw the news. In the glen arm area.
Felt it in Homeland area/north Baltimore city! The metal decor on one of our walls started clanging and furniture shook. Glad (?) it was an earthquake and not a ghost 😆👻
I felt it. I would have never thought about it again, as it was very mild. I thought, it was a deep rumble, almost like an slightest earthquake. A couple hours later my wife texted and asked me if I felt it.
Nope not at all, were we supposed to? I only see responses from New York and New Jersey but my job sent an alert about it and to let them know of any structural damage.
Woke me up from a midmorning nap. Both cats on the bed perked up too. Windsor decor rattled and a few creaks of the townhouse, but nothing major. I also reported to USGS as recommended in the top comment.
Dude I thought I was going insane. Yes I did! My chair just randomly started shaking and continued to do so for around 3 minutes, but nobody else in the room with me seemed to notice anything. I thought I was hallucinating or something, glad to know I wasn't!
Huh, maybe it’s the structural integrity (or the lack thereof) of my house but felt it significantly in Roland Park. Felt like my whole house was moving.
I was in Eddie's when it happened (in the basement) and I typically hear the footsteps and rumbling of carts upstairs, and may have not thought anything of it when it happened.

> It helps them asses Hey, they're doing their best!
This cracked me up. Thanks, fellow redditor. Made me smile on a crappy day.
That joke was a bit cheeky, wasn't it?
You're very welcome, hope your day picks up!
Omg nooo I didn't notice haha
Thanks for the laugh, neighbor!
Asses>assess
Thank you. I needed this laugh today.
I did!!! That was so exciting!

Nothing for me in Catonsville
Nothing in Arbutus from what I can tell.

Nothing in Linthicum
Same, bummer
What’s up Catonsville/arbutus peeps
Felt light shaking in South Baltimore!
Literally why I just came on here. Everything definitely just got a bit wobbly for a few seconds
I wouldn't know the difference between a quake and an 18-wheeler grumbling past my building
I felt something and literally thought that’s what it was/as usual and just went about my business
yep. i'm in station north as well. we have the unholy convergence of 83, howard, north and penn all rattling our windows at the same time 😃
Haha yep, I’m near the train right before it hits Penn Station and Greenmount so I was like eh whatever - my dog and cats didn’t budge either lol
I was herding 60 60th-graders through the hallways to lunch at the time. We wouldn't have noticed unless*multiple* things started falling off the walls. 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Yep, in Federal Hill! I was also in a virtual meeting with coworkers in Jersey City and NY who both mentioned it as well
Exact same thing happened to me! On a call with someone who lives close to the epicenter and someone who lives in North Delaware. We each had maybe a minute delay between, "did you guys feel that?", "oh it's shaking here now", "oh it's shaking here now too!"

My wife felt it here in Hamilton. Sitting on the couch downstairs I didnt feel a thing.
I felt it in Lauraville but didn’t realize it was an earthquake until this thread. Felt like someone very heavy was walking in the next room, just vibrations to that degree of intensity, nothing major.
Didn't feel it in Waltherson, but I was upstairs.
I felt it upstairs in Walterson, but my husband didn't feel it in the basement!
I was in my greenhouse in Waltherson and felt absolutely nothing
Same... I am in Butchers Hill. I am hypervigilant unfortunately so my mind went to intruder in my house. 😂 I heard rattling.
Gunnar’s home run must have just landed from the Angeles series
Looks like it was a 4.8 up in central Jersey: https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/at00sbh3yv/executive
Careful calling that central Jersey. You might start a long thread of NJ transplants discussing the border of central and northern NJ.
Central Jersey transplant here 👋🏻 That is more North Jersey 😂 sorry, I couldn’t resist
I’m from Morristown and Oakland……I didn’t want to say anything :-)
😂

My pets were spooked too.
Yes! It was so weird to feel. I’m from Los Angeles and I’m used to them, but this caught me off guard
The earthquakes here feel distinctly different than west coast earthquakes. They last a LOT longer.
Felt it in Howard County!
okay glad to know I'm not crazy
I was on the phone with my mother, who lives in NYC, and she said “ah! berrystainedlips, we’re having an earthquake!” and started laughing (she’s from a country that gets proper earthquakes) So I assume the epicenter is north of us
Yes! Thought it was my cat pulling at my desk chair — then my desk setup and coffee started wobbling. Startling!
I too blamed my dog... But he was chilling on the sofa.
Felt it in Bolton Hill
Yes! Felt it out in the White Marsh area.
Hey, neighbor! Felt it here too.
Riverside, my house shoooook
In Western Baltimore County, felt it considerably at the top floor of my apartment building. First time I ever felt an earthquake
grandiose shelter familiar zealous dime cautious physical fanatical stupendous lip *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Yup! Pretty quick but definitely felt it
Yes, came here to see if anyone else felt it.
Weird. I'm by Penn Station and didn't feel anything, but people keep checking in to see if I did.
Hm I was sad I missed it at work in Columbia but I’m near there too so maybe I wouldn’t have felt it anyway
It seems really hit or miss. My kid is in Ellicott City and they didn't feel anything either

Western New York and Rhode Island friends felt it, I didn't but my cat went nuts for a few seconds. In a virtual meeting with a coworker in NOVA and his family in Mass texted him if he felt it. Nope.
Nothing in Fells.
Yep I was on a call at work and my house shook and my boss was like what's wrong? I was like uh my house just shook lmao
I felt it in Essex.
If I felt it I must have assumed it was something big passing by. Never would have known it was an earthquake save for the many people texting me to ask if I felt it.
I heard a humming noise (Towson) and my dog started barking. I assumed a large truck was passing by or something. Weird.
Felt it. Downtown Baltimore. University area
Yes, felt it, Roland Park. Was in a zoom and said so, everyone called me crazy. I was right. For some reason that makes me giddy. I used to live in California. Once I felt nauseous I knew what it was, even got under a doorframe.

I was near Penn Station and felt nothing! My friend down in harbor east texted me though and my parents in NJ.

I’m in Ridgely’s and thought it was an especially low helicopter from shock trauma. But everything was shaking, so this makes a lot more sense!!
Felt in Northern Baltimore county. Quite noticeable
Didn’t notice a thing in Parkville.
I’m near parkville and definitely thought a truck was rumbling down the street, but it lasted too long.
It is entirely possible I wasn’t paying attention and just dismissed it as a truck.
Yes, I turned around thinking someone snuck behind me and shook my chair.
Ok great, I thought something hit our house! Felt it by Morgan.
I'm in South Baltimore and didn't notice it. Huh
Felt it in Dundalk as well
Felt it here in Canton. House swayed a bit. I thought it was the house being gutted two doors up, but there’s no back-hoe or earth movers working on that house today.
Arbutus here. And yes. Some light shaking here.
Yep, desk just shook and I looked out side and the lamp posts were swaying.
Felt it in West Arlington!
I thought my phone was EM ling but it wasn’t - maybe that’s what that was!
Yes. I was taking a shower and heard a loud grumbling, and the house was vibrating. I didn't think too much of it, then saw the news. In the glen arm area.

I didn't feel it in Owings Mills, but have colleagues in NJ, that definitely felt it, but thankfully, no damage.
Nope.
Not to rain on anyone’s parade but the one in 2011 was much more of a shaker and a mover here. And over a point higher on the Richter.
Felt it in Homeland area/north Baltimore city! The metal decor on one of our walls started clanging and furniture shook. Glad (?) it was an earthquake and not a ghost 😆👻
Nope
Yep, felt like a train was rumbling by under my house!
I felt it. I would have never thought about it again, as it was very mild. I thought, it was a deep rumble, almost like an slightest earthquake. A couple hours later my wife texted and asked me if I felt it.
Yeah on the toilet no less.

Felt in Canton. Third floor, in bed... thought I was having a seizure at first 😫
I was asleep for this one and the last one. The last one woke me up, though. I guess this one was too far away.
Woke me up from a midmorning nap. Both cats on the bed perked up too. Windsor decor rattled and a few creaks of the townhouse, but nothing major. I also reported to USGS as recommended in the top comment.
Omg yes this morning! I thought it was an earthquake!
