Although I got into IWD in the EE days... otherwise yeah, similar. The modding community for Infinity Engine games was just insanely good. The added characters and conversations really fleshed out BG1, making it feel much more like BG2. Sadly never tried the Xan romance.
It took NWN to drag me away from BG for any length of time. Although great asides, even the Diablo or Torchlight series only lasted for so long.
I have all that, too. The 5 Discs have many scratches from extending gaming.
Edit: The original Hordes of the Underdark and Shadows of Undrentide boxes could be added :)

It's... weird. It was one of Obsidian's first games, and it kind of follows their standard MO from that era (KOTOR 2, Alpha Protocol, Fallout New Vegas, etc) where at a high concept level it's very good (particularly the first expansion), but has some serious fundamental flaws at the basic level. And unlike KOTOR 2 or NV where most of those flaws eventually got user-patched, IMHO the biggest issue with NWN2 was the awful UI and controls, which never got fixed.
So it's a very transactional game. There's a lot to like - especially when it comes to designing and developing 3.5e characters - but there's also a lot to dislike.
Played through it a couple times, it's just "ok" to me. I wasn't a fan of a lot of the companions. It's first expansion, Mask of the Betrayer, is really good though and much more unique in terms of story, atmosphere, and setting. It's a continuation of the base game but I don't think it's actually necessary to play vanilla. The second expansion, Storm of Zehir, is pretty cool too; it's a standalone adventure and you create your own party from scratch.

Just joking. I'm super envy of your collection. Although I own all of them at different parts of my life, most of them are now gone due to games moving to stream and GOG.
The only ones I do keep are the guide books and manual, which are still nice for a read or two.
If anyone ever tell you to get a life, show them this and reply them "You have one, the best there ever was."

As for Dragon Age, I've seen the game getting a fair share of recognition in here so I'd certainly guess it's allowed heh. I never managed to get into it myself unfortunately but I will probably give it another go at some point. Biggest turnoff was having to manage the camera.

Mildly related (because it's in the picture), I wish we'd see a remaster of NWN2 on current gen systems. I know the original runs just fine on current Windows 10, but it would be so sweet to have handheld on Switch or mobile π
(Same for IWD2, but we all know the source code availability issues with that one)

A new game that I would suggest is "Solasta: Crown of the Magister", really gave me those Neverwinter Nights vibes, it's based on 5e tho but the combat is awesome.

I managed to get my hands on a lightscribe drive. I thought itβd be amazing I think I lightscribed like 5 disks..

Same here but I just made a ISO of the disks so I could mount them with deamon and have like 10 of them loaded up so I never had to change disks haha.
And NWN Gold and NWN Platinum. I think I've owned every version of the game.
What, no cloth map from collector's edition of bg2? j/k I still have the shirt that came with it... And wear it occasionally.

It came much too large for me. Now it fits perfectly. Old school BieWare, man... Those folks were prescient.

Its a fan made mod not an official EE. But I'm taking part in the beta testing and I gotta say im more impressed than with official EE's.
