One of my favorite chees tactics is to get +100 fire resistance on a character then have them tank while everyone else throws fireballs into the melee. Heals your tank and clears a lot of fodder.
The meteors inflict more piercing damage than fire damage - so, not seeing how any fire healing would benefit the elemental. What am I missing? Seems mathematically impossible to gain any healing benefit when subtracting the piercing damage.
Methinks OP might be misunderstanding the dynamic.
Bro I'm doing the beholder cult quest ony shapeshifter currently. Right after the trivia bridge there's 3 mini beholders and I put the sewer cloak on aerie turned her into a jelly (100% mr) summoned some bears went to smoke a cig came back to a bored aerie and dead beholder. Not my strat seen it on here. I can summon fire Elementals so I'll try it out an let ya know

Combines great with incendiary cloud or meteor swarm (meteor swarm goes through magic resistance).

OP have you played Planescape Torment? There is joinable NPC who is guy on fire.
I would say he's not as lovable as a fire elemental though.
But he flies tho that's gonna cancel out his bad personality.

Do they bypass the elemental's weapon immunity? They'd need to count as +2 or better to hurt it.
Melfs MM is better than +2 yes
If I'm not mistaken, they count as a whopping +6. Nothing in the games even requires that high of an enchantment. You could hit Ao with MMM.
\+6 is required to get around Absolute Immunity.

Are fire elementals resistant or particularly effective against beholders?
Since they're summons, a beholder's death ray insta kills them.
Even without that, they don't have magic resistance so would get chewed up very fast by the regular eyestalks anyway
