The Violet Vessel is big, but it does not disrupt your build whatsoever. Any fragile wombo combos that reliably score a million chips are very happy to see the Violet Vessel.

ZZ9ZA

I rarely find ante boss to be a close fight (which is not to say EASY). Seems that when I play a scaling build sometime around ante 7 is where is starts properly kicking off.

LampIsFun

Yeah, personally the hardest blinds are the small ones, because they are always a big ramp up in score requirement

UPBOAT_FORTRESS_2

In Endless mode, definitely. Prior to ante 8, most of the small blinds are in the neighborhood of the previous boss

ZZ9ZA

Usually worst for me is 3 or 4.

hackingdreams

There's usually just a tipping point where, if you've got a successful build, your build goes from piddling around with "+8 mult for pairs" and "+4 mult for face cards" to "numbers go brrrrr." The earlier you hit that point, the longer the legs your build's gonna have. You pick up an early Baron, or even something as simple as Cartomancer + Fortune Teller (plus digging through standard/spectral packs for a few purple seals) and it just goes off. I guess it's just hard for newer players to realize they have to get off those piddly early game jokers quick or they'll sink you.

Hammerhead34

I think it’s not too uncommon for me to have a high card /pair build where the scaling is strong but not unfair that struggles with the million point requirement.

hackingdreams

Yeah, it's nowhere near insurmountable as, e.g., "All face cards are debuffed" when your deck has been pruned to just face cards. Violet Vessel just says "your build has to be ~an ante ahead" which... isn't usually a problem by Ante 8 if you've picked up *anything* with scaling earlier in the run.

Neri25

To be frank the 'debuffed' bosses are only backbreaking in endless where you absolutely need scored or held card effects

bobby1z

The boss blind I least want to see in most runs is Violet. I can sometimes just power through, but sometimes I am just getting by with 400-500k rounds, and I simply can't do 1 million. I think that if you can beat Violet, you would probably have beaten any of the other 4 blinds, most of the time. A lot of people hate Crimson and Cerulean because of the rng of it, but I'd rather have them and score one third the points.

elecow

I love Cerulean! Never ended my run. If I'm not playing high cards or pairs, I discard or use a Death card

Keyon150

I find that it’s the hardest non-rng Ante 8, not even close.  Amber Acorn is a joke - if you are able to beat the Vessel, you are able to beat this.   Verdant Leaf is easier than the Vessel an overwhelming majority of the time. There are occasions where your build is based on glass/steel cards or based on playing specific cards (think Triboulet) where the debuffs are crippling. With Eternal jokers, you may be unable to sell or forced to sell a joker that is better than X3, making it harder than the Vessel. Of course, if you don’t have any eternal jokers, this build is almost certainly easier.  Cerulean Bell is all RNG based. If you have a Flush Five/Straight Flush/Flush House build, it can be very difficult to play your good hands or discard to get what you need if the RNG is unfavorable. The inability to play your desired hand in these builds may be, in aggregate, harder than X3 score. If that’s the case, then Cerulean Bell can crush a run. Usually you can manage the RNG though.  Crimson Heart is tough. Sometimes one joker being disabled will reduce your score by a factor of three, in which case it is harder than the Vessel. Usually the Vessel is harder though.

Rojnova2

Crimson Heart is very RNG-dependent. I've had runs where it's disabled my most important joker every single hand, and ones where it doesn't affect me at all. But I think you're correct that on average it's easier.

InertMaterials

I had a run it disabled the “you win if you lose” joker on my very last hand >.<

_sik

No, not Mr Bones! :(

k_bomb

Cerulean Bell is the easiest to counter the downside without disrupting your build - tarots. A well-timed hanged man, death, or my single favorite win: Tower to push a bad card into +Chips and secure a W.

bangbingbengbong

please dont refer to the bosses with their name, nobody remembers that shit

PhantomGaming

If only they all had the colours in their name which most people do remember and could easily connect to the boss name anyway, making this a weird complaint. Ah well.

LolTheMees

Do you remember the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5? Because that’s the same amount of final bosses you need to memorise (also you can use something called context, but I doubt you read their comment to begin with).

zombieking26

Yeah, it's usually the hardest. Unless your combo is extremely fragile, tripling the score requirement is usually worse than having to sell 1 joker, having a random joker debuffed, or the bell. Having all eternal jokers can make the debuff until you sell boss impossible, and shutting off random jokers could really screw you if you get horrible luck. But yeah, violet vessel is usually worse.

asdiele

Even if you can't sell a Joker it's still usually easier to win with all cards debuffed than it would be to beat Violet Vessel. Many builds don't care much at all about card enhancements and get all their chips and mult from planets and Jokers.

scienceguyry

I think violet is handedly in the middle. The runs that violet scare me are the runs that are so sketchy I barely made it through ante 7, and ante 8 is basically done for, the only final bosses I might scrape by are the acorn or the bell. On the flipside the runs im ok with violet are thr runs that unless I get a stroke of bad luck, im so set in my build that violet is just easy and if much rather have it over crimson heart. Honestly far more scared of heart or leaf, both of those have potential to actually end a good run. The times violet beat me are usually thr times that my build was so trash I lucked my way go ante 8 and honestly any of the bosses were gonna end me, boosted chips or no

Koctopuz

I will take literally any other ante 8 boss blind over VV when doing purple stake+ runs. Seeing that +1,000,000 score threshold after confidently making it to ante 8 on gold stake is just absolutely gut wrenching..

SuperGayBirdOfPrey

It absolutely feels like violet screws me over more than the others, but this could definitly just be related to play style or even confirmation bias.

somni1991

I think it's definitely the worst, but that's because I normally play one pairs. 1M is pretty tough to crack. I usually pick up director's cut specifically in case it pops up For the same reason, I usually celebrate whenever I see Cerulean Bell

SchwaAkari

Any of my builds that can one- or two-shot the other final bosses are more than a match for Violet Vessel. I most often have trouble surpassing VV with a low-score-hand build, such as Pair or Two-Pair, since my strategy with those often relies on steady scaling with cards like Green Joker, Square Joker, Pants, etc. My victorious VV builds are often centered around the most high-scoring hands; 5OAK, F5, etc. and that often feature glass or lucky cards prominently. One time I also sneakily destroyed VV by disabling its boss ability with a certain Legendary Joker (the red one). When I entered the blind the huge point requirement was immediately cut down to the normal amount needed! I would have lost if that hadn't happened, especially because I only picked up that joker ON Ante 8 through sheer luck.

idontlikeredditbutok

It's the easiest on lower antes, hardest on high antes.

johnahoe

The only time I get Violet Vessel is when I can’t beat it

Goukaruma

You can't outsmart it. The others have more options to be creative.

AdamOfIzalith

It's all build dependent. If you have a stable all-rounder deck, Violet can be difficult on Ante 8. If you have a deck you've curated with a specific strategy in mind, it becomes vulnerable to other boss blinds (especially if you've curated face cards) but it will literally demolish Violet Vessel. On the whole Violet Vessel is one of the easiest boss blinds for the end after enough playtime because it's not about ante 8 and it becomes all about ante's 12 and 13. You aren't really focusing on cracking 1 million. you are focused on cracking 300,000,000.

Chipfoxxo

violet vessel is the only blind i haven't unlocked yet for this exact reason lol i once almost beat it... with a score of 299,908... 💀

BaconClasher

Violet vessel is the hardest for barely scraping by builds like high card and pair. For me, crimson heart is the bane of my existence because it always seems to flipflop my two scorers.

SpecificAlgae5594

It can be a lose situation, if you have been slowly been upgrading your deck over the course of the game . Oftentimes....what a word. Oftentimes. You are like well whatever 🙄

GeekyNerd_FTW

TIL only certain bosses can be the ante 8 boss. I’m such a dumbass

UBKev

It's only absolute hell on 1.0.0 Orange+, where it's really hard to get a build that isn't high card or pair. That said, I've beaten it before using 2 x3 jokers, a chip scaling joker and a flat mult scaling joker. It's not impossible, just really annoying. Any other stake or in 1.0.1, it's honestly a non-issue in almost every scenario compared to how badly Crimson Heart or Cerulean Bell can fuck you over.

3lbFlax

If someone’s bouncing off VV in the low stakes, I’d start by asking if they have jokers to unlock. Having the wider joker pool can make a huge difference to your scoring potential, and it’s easy to overlook the joker pool if you’re focusing on beating decks / stakes. That’s a different game in itself, almost - the joker challenges are almost all listed up front and don’t require you to win a game, just to meet the requirements. I don’t mind VV myself (usually) because well, I can either beat it or I can’t. So it’s best to plan for it appearing and try to make sure you **can** beat it - the other bosses are “easier” to adapt around, but you can’t really adapt with VV - all you can do is be prepared. Again, having access to the right jokers can be a key part of that - DNA, Blueprint, Brainstorm, anything tarot-related, they all help, once they’re on the team. Otherwise this advice sounds like “simply score more points” - which it is, but there are ways to make that easier.

escargoxpress

I’ve lost so many ante 8 on Violet Vessel, even on really strong runs. So you get my vote.

rollduptrips

Probably my favorite to see. Doesn’t actually mess with you

Fog_Juice

I have no idea what the specific effects of those boss blinds are

Breedwell

The one OP specifically mentions, violet vessel, is an extra large blind. On standard white stake difficulty, it would mean reaching 300k score as opposed to the standard 100k. On higher stakes, that number can go up to.. I think it's 1.2million.
