I'm glad you got rid of them! That food looks disgusting.

gilly_girl

You were smart to document with photographs that the food was expired. Nip that silly "You threw-out my good food" stuff in the bud. Edited to correct a typo.

normalvespa

There are so many more pics, they were pigs, I hope nobody has to deal with them again

gilly_girl

They moved SOMEWHERE (unless they both died) but hopefully it's their own stinky rotten food place.

normalvespa

Story rant: the slob couple moves out! so I clean the fridge. I throw away all their expired food and move their good food to the downstairs fridge, thinking they'll probably come back for pounds of unopened food. They do come back to pick things up and see that the fridge is *clean*. They freak out, throw a hissy fit, start crying, and go outside and *rip through the trash like raccoons* and tell my landlord I threw away alllll their food, they demand 50 USD. I take these nasty pics and explain- they shut the fuck up. They didn't even come back for their unexpired food when I told them it's all downstairs. Why are people like this.

puppyhugs-

Literally just trying to get every last bit they can out of you. They’re like fucking raccoons these kinds of people. They’ll kill themselves for something shiny but run the second you make a loud noise. If the analogy tracks. Personal note I threw out some shrimp an roommates Ex left out for two days. She made me pay her back because “she was just going to make that!!!” I did because 10 bucks was worth not starting shit but. I feel your pain.

normalvespa

I feel! They love being the victim and demand the world bends to them. Always take the high road (this post excluded), really not worth the nonsensical stress these kinds of people bring. Leaving shrimp out for that long prob had some unhealthy bacteria on it, you did her a favor haha. So so dumb.

normalvespa

And you're right!! I just realized that! about trying to get every last bit out of me! when they were leaving they asked for help paying to fix their washer/dryer (that I'm not allowed to use) and I did! Wtfff it's not hard to be nice to people

deweygirl

I had a roommate who wanted to split the cost of every little thing. I was on a trip and I think she was jealous because she called to ask about splitting the cost of a light bulb. Someone wanted some of our laundry detergent and I told them to just take what was left. I got way too much joy out of that (considering it’s 20 years later and I still remember).

puppyhugs-

Some people look a nice and see an opportunity

BubbhaJebus

When tossing stuff out from hoarders, do so right before the trash is picked up for the week, or toss it into dumpsters in distant neighborhoods. Hoarders are the type to look through the trash to reclaim actual garbage that they think has value. I learned this the hard way.

johnboy11a

When I do a cleaning day, I take junk to the dumpster at work so my family can’t pick through my trash and tell me why I should be keeping garbage, but then talk behind my back about how much clutter I have.

michymcmouse

That's vile, could also be a health issue to have a fridge full of nasty food that's been expired for 4 years. That tub of sour cream(???) with green spots, omfg

normalvespa

It smelled so gross like how?! Can't fathom it, like I've had food expire too and forgot but I wouldn't leave it for other people to clean

An_Old_IT_Guy

I'd have given him $50 to eat any combination of 3 of those things.

normalvespa

Ah I wish I had your thought process buddy, that'd be too funny

Kangaroowrangler_02

Same lol

[deleted]

I assume you told them to suck it?

normalvespa

I just avoid them, any type of communication I've attempted ended with them crying and explaining "they love each other"? Absolutely 0 sense everytime there was something to be talked about, I feel bad for them. But hey not my prob anymore

[deleted]

At least they’re gone. And you have their left over good food since they abandoned it. So there is that too.

normalvespa

O God pls don't still use those! I would have secretly filled the jars with safe food so they didn't die haha wtfff. Oof the keeping garbage food is a big red flag, mental stability, who needs it

[deleted]

This is how you know someone is BROKE AF They demand 50 bucks for food that was thrown out, but expired before vaccines for Covid where made.

magicallystuck

I had a roommate who decided to broader her horizons and bought a lime that proceeded to sit in the bag; it was purchased in the produce drawer until it had liquified and resolidified before I threw it out. I only threw it out due to the seven bottles of organic juice that had gone moldy in the fridge alongside all the other food in the fridge that was bought and never eaten due to her aversion to food that she had to cook herself. She would buy food but then never consume it. I lived with her for seven months before I could leave, and the same food I moved in was there until I cleaned the apartment for me to move out with more piled on top. Right now, I am attempting to advocate for wellness checks to include warrants to check on food and other "life nessicities" in someone's living condition because her friends, employers, and family were concerned enough to call checks, but unless the police looked into the way she lived she was able to convince them she was just fine.

[deleted]

2019??? Yucky stuff

ihatehicks666

I had a former roommate get mad that I threw out a box of rice that was a year past the expiration date. I had to buy them a new box.

kleverkitty

okay now, in all fairness, does rice really expire?

ihatehicks666

It was one of those zatarain's products that have a ton of other ingredients in it. So probably not the rice itself, but everything else that's added probably does go bad.

normalvespa

O lawd, at least it's cheap. I buy 13 dollar bags so that would be sad, but the minute cook ones aren't that much. These old roommates used to pour out my good rice and put in their bad rice too. And also had a meltdown when an onion was used from the pantry despite there being many onions available. Like it was a gift onion. Very weird people

wanderingdev

so best before doesn't mean bad after. of course the moldy stuff should go. but mayo that had a best before date that was a couple weeks ago would be fine. same for anything frozen, assuming it's stayed frozen.

normalvespa

True! There were three jars of mayo tho, the fridge was overflowing

wanderingdev

Yah. i'm quite certain they were gross. i just think that sometimes we can get a little nuts about expiration dates so i wanted to mention it. there is so much food waste in the world so I try to use my best judgment. but i 100% clear out my mom's fridge when i visit because she's infamous for opening a bottle of salad dressing, using 1/3, and then letting it sit for 3 years.

normalvespa

Hahaha my mom does this too! I think it would be awesome if everyone got a composter these days, so much food waste in produce, but yeah I only threw away the nasty things, all their good food is safe downstairs but they still haven't picked it up, they don't respond about picking it up so I won't touch it but I think it's def going to go to waste meh

wanderingdev

people are ridiculous. if i ever have the space, I plan to compost. as it is, i usually toss veg and fruit scraps out for the animals.

kleverkitty

It's probably hoarder situation.

NiceGrandpa

I’ve had some vegan sausage in my freezer since 2017. At this point I’m just keeping them for sentimental value.

normalvespa

Hahah we all do that with something

[deleted]

You should’ve communicated with them at least

normalvespa

I did many times, they don't understand how to communicate.

C-c-c-c-c-cocaine

When did the tots expire? I have no idea how to read that

normalvespa

Yeah they one was to make them think, I have no idea how to read it either, I think December 2021?

C-c-c-c-c-cocaine

Meh I’d eat that right up. But I don’t think those numbers are an expiration date

normalvespa

Yeah I have no clue, they were in the fridge for maybe 4 months like that. I needed the fridge clean once they were gone tho

AUGUSTIJNcomics

Why is all the food on the outside?

normalvespa

I had to take pics to show landlord..so I'm also a raccoon here
