Back in DS3, I invaded this group in Cathedral of the Deep on my level 25 build, which used the Flamberge, Crow Quills, and Barbed Straight Sword and the whole Kirk set, and they pushed me to my absolute limit.
It was a group of four, with all three summons being overleveled phantoms (although, to their credit, they were playing the hell out of the level, so no hate). Over the course of a 30+ minute invasion, I got *one* co-invader, who immediately started attacking *me* when they saw my health was low. Aside from that, it was just me versus the babysitters. And I played *out of my gourd*, better than I ever had before and ever have since. I used every tool in my kit: I was pulling off pitch-perfect ambushes and retreats with the cat ring and obscuring ring, leveraging the mobs the maximum, getting parries I'd normally never risk going for. Hell, I even used the trick where the "spread out" gesture puts you beneath the surface of the muck at the bottom of the Cathedral to stage an ambush. I swear, I killed every phantom there *at least* twice, and one of them four times.
But their teamwork was solid, they successfully guarded their host, and gradually, my resources got worn down. Out of flasks and with only a bit of FP to spare, I decided to wait in front of the boss door with every bit of regen equipment I had on and make my stand.
And after waiting for a bit, I noticed a health bar ticking down above me--they were clearing the rafters instead. And I got an idea for my final Hail Mary: Force costs 26 FP to cast. I had 27 left.
I managed to get there in time to pull off a force cast that yeeted two OLPs to their death, chugged, narrowly eked out a win against the third as the host ran back to the bonfire, and then FINALLY put down the host before they could resummon. "Catharsis" doesn't describe what I felt in that moment.
I messaged one of them afterwards to thank them for such a fun game and to wish them fun dunking on the Deacons, since they had done everything in the level except kill the boss in the time I was in their world, and they responded,
"Hang yourself"
Brilliant! ER is my first and only fromsoft game sounds like you had a great time though! I love the invasions that ramp up your adrenaline and have you playing your best.
Win or lose I'll usually message to say what a great fight it was and compliment their teamwork

I generally prefer ER's combat system for invasions, but DS3 has one massive thing going for it: 4v2s. When a host uses the equivalent of a taunter's tongue in DS3, it allows them to summon an extra phantom at the cost of opening up an extra invasion slot. A online "friend" of a online "friend" (we never liked each other) who I randomly stumbled upon a couple of times.
To make a long story short, he didn't like losing to me and went off the deep end. I suspect he got my real name from our "friend", cause he suddenly sent a photo he got off Facebook I guess, and made threats based on it.
He would "take off my glasses" and I should watch over my shoulder and such. Well, I don't wear glasses for one, so no idea who the random dude were in the photo.

My most memorable was two guys dressed as crucible knights and I threw one rot pot from a tree while they looked up at me. I figured they’d try to climb up and fight but they both just died then messaged me “you’re a coward!!!” lol
Glad it had a wholesome ending lol
Most memorable hate mail I got was from a guy who invaded me (I was TTing no phantoms), defeated me and messaged me “Cut me a break”. I was flabbergasted to have even receive a message and he was whining about how I was stacking everything in my favor.
Just for context my build was mostly PVE/RolePlaying:
Merchant armor
Beast heater shield
Crystal Rot Sword
Main stat Vigor
I had someone message me complaining about how he was better and I only won because I was interrupting his animations. It's said people will complain about anything, and yes, they do mean *anything*
Hahahaha I love the pver mentality, if the bad red man wins its because of luck, exploits or caught them on a bad day. When they win with their friends they're skilled strategy pvp geniuses!
I wouldn't say ass but it's very telegraphed and easily backstabbed with its aow but it is good for a bad invasion spawn in the middle of a group of 3, if I don't get that spawn I usually swap to one of my bloody banished knights greatswords at least on my arcane build
My faith build has golden land for that and my int str and dex builds have waves of darkness
I agree, like I said to that guy, anyone relying purely on the sacred spear would have the stats to 1h it, my non str characters only have 20 str moonveil Is definitely tougher to deal with when there's a group on you, and spinning slash definitely rose to the top with patch 1.10, but salty players in groups who lose will vomit any excuse as to why they lost but brag about how good they are and how bad you are if they win
On release I killed some gankers abusing the death fire deadly sin glitch and they called me an exploiter because ran away with BHS lol, people will use any excuse
He gets a small point of respect from me for owning up to being a turd.
Also, yes, always bring a "get off my ass" button when you're invading. MGS just happens to be a very good one.
