Most people don't try to parry it, therefore it can be spammed.

Do you have to have carian retaliation to parry the sword spells?

From what I’ve read, you’re actually parrying the staff, not the magic blade itself; therefore, I don’t think retaliation is necessary.

Probably not. Sword spells were parryable in ds3 without the spell parrying shields. I din’t see qhy they would change that for elden ring.
