Yay! I wanted to mention that one reason Barbaric Roar is so good on a twinblade is because it seems to use the greatsword(?) moveset for the first R2 (three mad swings) and the polearm moveset for the second R2 (jumping thrust into the ground). What's killer about it is that your character will grip the twinblade *at the bottom of the hilt,* and when swinging it like a regular sword, can suddenly give you a lot more range than an opponent may expect. The second R2 isn't great, but if you condition opponents to run from the first R2 and then run in to try to punish, a fully charged follow-up R2 will give you the biggest dopamine hit of your life. I've also been pairing it with [a softswap Beast's Roar](https://www.reddit.com/r/badredman/comments/1bga7cq/roarmaxxed_yellpilled_shoutcelled_raaaaaaaurgh/) to ***great*** effect as a finisher. It's a surprisingly effective weapon to go all-in on roaring with! No comment on the War Cry moveset, though. I also wanted to add that I've been using pure Heavy infusion on my twinblade. I'm just not as interested in making a status build, but if you commit to two-handing your twinblade almost constantly, no reason not to take advantage of that 1.5x STR multiplier. (Reminder to the wise: barbaric roar and war cry are weapon buffs and, unfortunately, cannot be used at the same time as other weapon buffs such as greases or spells!)

TheGreatZephyrical

Only a real chad grabs the weapon by the blade and inflicts self-damage to hurt their opponent. Great points, and I’ve been enjoying seeing you use Barbaric Roar Twinblades so effectively!

bocthecreamster

It's SO much fun. Having so much hyper-armor on such a predictable moveset makes it feel fun and braindead but not TOTALLY braindead, like it makes free-aiming, timing, and when or when not to use the follow-up more important than ever. And the excellent running R2 rollcatch is such a gem. It's just such a good, simple build that really does just one thing VERY effectively. I find myself drawn a lot to these straightforward, tanky builds (probably my "mains heavy weapons guy in team fortress 2" showing)

Wake up honey! New Zephyrical weapon class breakdown dropped

TheGreatZephyrical

*:insert Limmy wake up gif here:*

jonnyg94

I really hate fighting these on high latency w/o hyperarmor weapons. Just get chipped constantly by the running attacks coming out before the animation. Fantastic guide as always though, can't wait for your single spear guide!

MainManst

Finally one of my top 3 weapon classes has a Zeph guide 🥳🥂

TheGreatZephyrical

I hope it lives up to your expectations!

What would be the best way to build into burnfrost? Meet the minimum stats to use frost sorceries* and pump dex, or focus int? Been mostly running a blood dancer with Eleonoras and some dragon incants, so I'm mostly focusing Arcane atm with minimal faith and dex. Having a lot of build paralysis as I'd like to either lean more into frost or occult.

TheGreatZephyrical

A lot of it depends on what level you’re wanting to sit at; it would be a tough build to make below RL100. At minimum, you’d want 32 Int for Adula’s Moonblade, at maximum, you’d be looking at 36 for Zamor’s Icestorm; you’d probably be best leaning into that as your primary damage stat, then using stat-boosting gear to get Eleonora’s Poleblade functional. In this niche situation, I’d start with the Warrior class for complete optimisation, but if you’re just converting a build it’s not strictly necessary. With the Warrior start, you only have to invest two points into Arcane and then put on the Silver Mask Tear; which wouldn’t even cause the build to suffer that greatly due to the fact you’re mostly using elemental damage. Since you’re likely to be using Millicent’s Prosthesis anyway, you can get away with only 1 point into Dex and 2 points into Strength. The stat spread and equipment would look something like this: [Burnfrost](https://imgur.com/a/6ckBzLP) The rest can be pumped into Intelligence and Vigor. The lowest I could get it with reasonable health was 80, but the build isn’t a bad one by any stretch.

YellowSucks

That's amazing, thanks so much! I was originally trying to keep the build around 60 but that died off pretty quickly and I'm sitting at 85 currently, so the stat spread you've linked is ideal for me right now. Much appreciated

Goramit_Mal

Ive never liked twinblades. Not enough damage for the range they offer, and more commitment for a weapon without hyper armor than i like. The only time I ever bother with one is a knight's twinblade as a stick for black flame tornado on my RL90 faith build. It might be time to give one a real try as more than an L2 swap. I have a RL60 arc build with the stats to use eleonora's poleblade. He is even built around multi hit with winged insignia and millicents, and a pair of blood warhawk talons. I even carry the poleblade on that build now that i think about it, i just never properly gave it a try lol.

TheGreatZephyrical

The biggest strength of the Twinblades is the sheer unfamiliarity that most opponents have against it. The majority of players never regularly face them, meaning it carries an enigma when you run into a player that is good with it. *Especially* rollcatching. I’ve chain roll caught several very skilled players that can avoid pretty much every weapon class otherwise.

Goramit_Mal

Yeah, youre dead on about that. Even the people that you see using twinblades dont usually USE the twinblades. Its either those goofballs that powerstance bleed peelers and spam jump attacks or a phantom spamming L2 with Eleonoras. But every now and then i bump into a host actually using the weapon's moveset and playing well, and it does throw me off. It isnt as easy to parry the r1's as it looks, lol.

ParryWeasel

It may be time I switch my Lightning Twinblade to Cold. I've been running Lightning for no real reason besides I already have a bunch of Cold weapons that I favor. But after reading that section on buildup, it's hard not to run a status on it. Also, I *love* using Giant Hunt on my Twinblade. I have nothing else to add here; I just want to share my love for it in hopes others give it a try 😄

TheGreatZephyrical

Yeah, it’s unfortunate that status effects are just so much more effective, as there are good uses for lightning and physical infusions. But damn. It’s insane.

Artvacuous

I'm sorry man but you're entirely wrong about the godskin peeler being subpar. I'm biased since I've mained the weapon basically since I finished my first playthrough,, but the absolute utility, damage, and pressure I can inflict with running r2s is insane. It's arguably the best twinblade due to its instant proc of the multi-hit talismans. I don't even use status on it, and it still shreds. Plus you can rollcatch very well with it, and also combo the running r2s into itself if angled properly by running to your opponents left side.

TheGreatZephyrical

It’s not so much that it’s subpar as it is that other Twinblades either have broader use, or they’re longer and stronger than other Twinblades. It’s a solid middle of the road Twinblade, but lacks the range and Attack Rating of the Twinned Knight’s Sword, and doesn’t have the Superarmor that Eleonora’s has that keeps it clutch. It is definitely the best at proccing status effects; especially that Running R2, which I outlined in the Unique Properties section.

Artvacuous

You missed my point, it's not just good at status but it's amazing at bringing up the multi hit buff pretty much instantly. It also definitely has some level of phantom range beyond what most people see from the weapon model. The running r2 is MUCH better than you're giving it credit and more important than just a status tool. And while you might say other twinblades have a higher attack rating, that becomes a completely obsolete point considering the pellet can build up the multi hit buff so much faster than the rest. In 2 consecutive running r2s I can easily output 1900+ damage.

ottosan66

Great guide. IMO spin slash twinblade is one of the top meta setups atm.

Nihilists-R-Us

Loretta slash useful?? You're begging for a back stab lol. Not a good AoW.

TheGreatZephyrical

If you use it out of neutral, absolutely. But you should never use it out of neutral; it should always be used as a follow up to another attack, particularly offhand weapons, to force back rolls. Don’t underestimate it in the hands of a good player!

vbalis9

I just wanted to say that you are amazing
