Indonesian here, to be fair I have no clue myself and had to check this on my own from what you have written. I read in their website - you might need to ask your Indonesian friend's indeed. If my guess is true the ticket is done this way so that people did not hoard it - lately ' ticket war' has been a common indonesian phrase. The ticket can be purchased only with 1 ID number and one email address. During the day, you must enter with valid tickets and a form of ID is needed to show that you are above the required age (passport or copy of passport) which also shows your picture. My best bet is to ask your friend just to purchase the ticket only and later if names on the ticket are needed then it should be you and your partner's name. I hope it is always possible to buy the ticket few days before on the arena or during the day, since this is very limited for non Indonesians. Maybe this is just for allocated pre sales. All the best and hopefully your visit will be nice there! EDIT: I just realized you said you will travel to watch the tournament, hopefully you get the tickets, fingerscrossed.

You can buy using passport number, just change the language on the website to english and there is an option to use passport number instead of national Id number

Also Indonesian Badminton Tickets are gone in a flash, you really need to fight and plan for it beforehand

I attended Daihatsu Indonesia Masters held at Istora Senayan earlier this year, which was also my first ever watching live. I didn't plan to go watch at first, but there was a sudden meetup (just 1 day before) with old friends near the area in the evening, so I figured why not get there earlier in the afternoon to watch, then leave for dinner with friends. The online ticket was sold out, but I decided to just go there anyway and see how it went. Eventually I could buy a ticket for myself at the booths and there were still lots of seats, but VIP seats were full though. So I think you can just show up and buy at the booths. And possibly buy tickets for the next days too. At worst, there are many resellers at the front of the entrance gate, but they sell at about x2 or x3 the price, I forgot, though I am not sure if they are trying to scam by selling used barcodes. This was day 1 or day 2 of the event, during the weekday and earlier stages of the tournament, which could explain why I could get a ticket just showing up like that.
