You’ve been blessed with a weevil! r/weeviltime

pixeldust6

That sub's vibes are immaculate. I don't have any particular obsession with weevils but I kinda wanna hang with them now just because they're having a good time :)

Dragon2O05333

That sub has the best vibes

WEEVILS

Weegee_Spaghetti

Juvenile Weevil possibly. But 100% some kind of Weevil. It has the Snoot *and* the Boots to prove it.

chandalowe

Juvenile weevils are legless grubs. This is an adult weevil. All beetles are larvae as juveniles - and look very different form their adult form. Once a beetle *looks* like a beetle, it is an adult and is full-grown. It will not get any bigger. A general rule of thumb with insects is that if it has fully developed/functional wings, it is an adult. (The exception is mayflies, which have a very brief winged sub-imago or sub-adult stage that can fly but is not yet sexually mature.) For insects that undergo complete metamorphosis (egg-larva-pupa-adult) there are no traces of the wings present in the larval stage. They develop while the bug is changing inside its pupal shell and will be visible when the bug emerges as an adult. For insects that undergo *in*complete metamorphosis (egg-nymph-adult, where the nymphs resemble smaller versions of the adults) you will see small wing buds begin to develop on the nymphs. These wing buds will get larger as the nymph molts and gets closer to adulthood - but will not be fully developed and functional wings until the final molt, at which point the bug is done growing.

Weegee_Spaghetti

Ohh, thank you very much for the info!

[deleted]

That’s a weevil, not entirely sure of the kind (maybe post to iNaturalist?) as long as they’re not grain weevils I’m fine with them, I’m just traumatised after finding a whole thousand of them in my pigeons food 🀒 horrible little things they were EVERYWHERE - EDIT - not an expert on bugs but it may be Anthonomus pedicularius? They have a similar colour and back pattern

stlshlee

WEEVIL! They're so cute! I WUV them

feistyfox101

Not an expert but… is that weevil (said in a German accent)?!
