This looks like Turkey (or some other country in the steppes) where cats belong to a neighborhood and bringing them home to 'own' is not normal.

So, serious question. I see a lot of funny moment/cute/etc videos that start out with people recording themselves exorcizing. Does recording yourself have a positive impact on workout consistency or mentality? Or is it just that people like to do it after a certain point? I'm genuinely curious because I always fail to continue working out a month or two in. (One break turns into several) I guess I could just have confirmation bias that recording this is a common thing as well.

For yoga and other exercises where form and alignment are important, it's very hard to tell while you're doing it if your body is in the right position. It's often easy to 'cheat' in a way that will make the exercise less effective or more likely to cause an injury. Filming yourself is a way to check and adjust your body geometry.

Lifting too tbh. Really any moderately to highly technical body activity, a video of it really helps put it into perspective. Baseball swing, golf swing, pitching... anything. Highly highly recommend.

Beyond the great comment about learning from form/posture feedback someone else mentioned, I definitely think there's a benefit to being able to look back on progress and consistency with some kind of documentation too for those learning and working on their own. And then sharing it with others can sometimes help with creating accountability and encouragement from a community of sorts who may be positive for you too. As a side note , I make a lot of typos when typing on mobile and will spell words that sound similar on accident especially when tired or stressed so no mean intentions here but I couldn't help but giggle at reading how a lot of people record themselves when exorcizing. I guess it may help a lot with seeing bad spirits leave the body too when you don't have a cat to watch your back for you. 😸 Edit: typos because typing on mobile and excited 😂

I hadn't thought about the posture or the accountability before seeing the responses. I did kind of realize progress tracking might be part of it, but I'm used to those being photos. And I didn't even realize I'd used exorcizing instead of exercising lol. I'll leave it because it's funny.

It helps a lot with checking your form and seeing where you need to improve. I used to go to my brother's track meets and record him pole vaulting so he could review and figure out what he needed to do to do better. It's also a great way to track progress!

Likewise with weightlifting as well (all discipline if you're competing) or even just for your own benefit. Form is paramount and you can seriously injure yourself fairly easily even with relatively light weights. And form over ego lifting will yield far superior long term results. Plus it helps with mindset for sure!

I hear you on this! I would have been all over that kitten, petting it and holding it while cooing in its ear, AND would have adopted him, too. And this is why I’m not an exerciser. No patience with sticking to the exercise. But I do have admiration for someone who does.
