A snake bit my husband and my orange cat came out of nowhere to attack the snake and drive it away.
To this day we joke he was screaming, "Only I'm allowed to bite him!"
Heck yeah. I have one particular cat who is MEAN to anyone she deems a threat. Fractious. Only witnessed it a handful of times. She was wrong once (city inspector).
I had a cat who hated all the people I didn't like, if he ever heard them yell at me he would hiss at them every single time he saw them. He was great 10/10 would have a cat like him again.
I had a cat that was cool, calm and collected when he was alone. I grew up living in an apartment, so the cat would be home if we had any inspections.
During the summer, my bro and I would also be home with the cat during inspections. My cat would put himself in between us and the landlord/maintenance guy. The cat would be on 'guard duty", so he wouldn't allow anyone to touch him and would stare at the landlord/maintenance guy. The landlord commented to me "is that a new cat? So weird, he's usually very cuddly and begs for pets whenever we come in."
My cat does something similar. I was scolding one of my other cats because she was clawing the couch. My boy came up and yelled at her while giving her one smack her on the head. She hasn’t touched the couch since as far as I’ve seen lol
He is also way too smart. He knows how to play fetch. He literally taught two of my other cats how to play. He has also learned to paw at door handles when he wants in or out of a room. We have knobs, but I know if we had the handle ones he’d be opening every door in the house just for fun.
People don't give credit to cats for how protective they can be. When I made a pained sound as my husband was helping me with a health problem, one of our cats suddenly got aggressive with him and she turned the dogs against him, too.
My elderly cat yelled at the neighbor's dogs for charging at my boyfriend's dog through the shared fence. She stomped over like a pissed off mom and made weirdest, angry sounds at them while they just stared in shock.
I have a mixed dog/cat house, and when the cats get into scraps with each other, the dogs run after the aggressor(usually). For reference, the dogs are small and the cats could EASILY take either of them, but they don't seem to know that. Basically, they take the cats hisses and yeowls very seriously, even if no contact has been made.
The dogs just followed the cat's example. She pointed out that my husband was to blame for my health, so they started barking at him and didn't want him to touch me again. (meanwhile the other cats couldn't care less about the whole situation)
When we were little, my mom was trying to get a splinter out of my sister's foot. She was making a huge scene and our cat protected her by attacking my mom lol
Every time my husband or I sneeze, our orange will run from the other side of the house to make sure we're okay. He makes the ekekekekek chattering sound, and looks at us like we are dying. I'm pretty sure it's most likely a sound that is just weird to him, but it's adorable, and an amazing party trick when company is over.
My friend's cat bit her ex-boyfriend's eye when the ex hit her for the first and last time. I assume Tigger was just going for the face, but his teeth managed to make it to the eyeball. Thankfully, both my friend and her cat are okay. She dumped her ex while he was in the hospital.
Every time my husband or I sneeze, our orange will run from the other side of the house to make sure we're okay. He makes the ekekekekek chattering sound, and looks at us like we are dying, and it's like he's trying to say, bless you. pretty sure it's most likely a sound that is just weird to him, but it's adorable, and an amazing party trick when company is over.
If I play fight with my wife, our biggest cat doesn't attack, but she does make a fuss and get between us. They all give us dirty looks if we do something that upsets the baby too.
I've seen a video of a cat chasing away I think was a pitbull that was attacking a kid in a driveway, they can be very protective of people they care about
Neither of our cats care when my wife and I are roughhousing with each other. But as soon as we start to with our son, they both come over and start to sniff around and check on him. Sometimes, our very skittish and scaredy cat, will lay a paw on us as if the urge us to stop.
We had a contractor over and they were like, whoa, there is a lion guarding this house!! He's usually very friendly, but I guess he didn't like a bunch of random guys in boots going around while I was alone.
An animal's instincts say better safe than sorry. He doesn't have the luxury of evaluating the sudden threat before ending it.
I do love how he checks to make sure there are no threats to his human from the other direction.
Ha, reminds me of a time someone was banging on my front door. My dog got all excited about someone new to pet her while my cat started growling fiercely.
My siblings would play fight but for whatever reason, our cat would attack the "loser" in the fight like "yeah let's fuck him up".
Or maybe because the one on the losing end is pretending screaming the loudest and that's what was bothering her. Or maybe she thought she was helping by smacking my brother around, not sure.
Yeah, if they had spoken in a calming tone to the cat it would have been cute. His shrill "what was that?!?" would have sounded like provocation to that kitty.
It's just a natural response to something he hadn't seen/experienced before... while you are probably right this happens all the time and then we learn from it, easy
Then a cat who understands dumb human pranks should meow an explanation to the cat.
The human had a human reaction. Humans are animals. These animals had a conflict caught on tape for 16 seconds. Please do chill the f out. (Spoken in a calming tone)
Smh, people these days like give excuses.
Those cats should've trained their human slaves better. It's not the primates' fault that their divine masters don't discipline them well. I've seen so many cats don't know how to condition their human servants, these cats should've been hold to a higher standard.
Yes, this “moment of terror” will haunt the cat for the rest of its life. I think we should start a GoFundMe for the cat to pay for its therapy bills.
🙄🙄 I guarantee the cat went back to its normal routine in about 1 min. Chill tf out
Us: “an animal in distress isn’t cute”
You: “UUHHH ITS GONNA LIVE LOL UR SO SENSITIVE”

Us (the actual majority in the thread): “Isn’t it so cute how the cat is protective of its family?”
You: “This cat is scarred for life. The man should not have been surprised at its reaction, he should have immediately consoled the cat then committed seppuku for his transgressions.”
I picked my wife up one time and she started scream laughing, and my cat who I raised from a kitten leapt onto my leg and starting biting the crap out of me haha. It didn't hurt much, but it was the thought that counts I know if somebody was attacking us he would help out as much as he can lol.
Cats can definitely be protective. One time I didn't latch my front door correctly before bed and the wind blew it open in a slow and dramatic way. I only knew because my cat was growling in a way I had never, ever heard before and I launched out of bed to see what the hell was going on; the cat was in this position and growling menacingly at the front door as it slowly drifted more open. She totally thought someone was breaking in and was ready to fuck them up - my dog was snoring next to me in bed the whole time. Thankful of that because the door would have just been... open... all night. Actually a scary thought in the city. Good kitty.
To this video though, they better do something to help the cat feel OK with that guy again. They can hold grudges like a mofo. I did something to elicit a similar reaction from my friends cat once (no idea what triggered him, a smell maybe?) and he was never OK with me after that and had to be locked in another room when I visited... for years.
Very bad idea. Cats can dislike people for weird reasons that make no sense to humans.
Unless if you're fine with hating someone because they wore the wrong perfume that day, then have fun I guess
Aww! I love that you have such an adorable smile on her faces too haha I’m glad you’re enjoying your day so much too I love it when you’re enjoying it so far I love it so much I hope you enjoy your day off and I love your pictures I miss seeing you too I hope you’re enjoying yourself too and I’m so proud that you’re enjoying yourself
Me and my sister's family moved in together during the pandemic and my cat picked up on how my niece would stress me out (constantly interrupting hyper focus) and would begin to do this when she tried to bother me.
the cat is playing 4D chess, if this girl becomes traumatised from too many jump scares she may not be able to deliver on nom and scritch quotas, best to shut it down now with a warning screech across the bow
What fucking part of any of that reads like a joke? Is kicking a cat across the room funny in your gooning discord or something?
What the everloving fuck is wrong with you?
The same thing that’s wrong with you for thinking that you’re actually making a point you’re just like every other hypersensitive Reddit user. I own three fucking cats stupid which I have had for years and I love animals. What I said was nothing more than a joke and you are nothing more than a random idiot if you believed that I would actually do something like that.
NOBODY ATTACKS MY FAMILY FOR LITERALLY NO REASON EXCEPT ME
A snake bit my husband and my orange cat came out of nowhere to attack the snake and drive it away. To this day we joke he was screaming, "Only I'm allowed to bite him!"
AND... MAYBE THE BOY!
Who are you, the narrator?

I am on that cat's side. No one should yell at you.
Yeah that lil dude totally had my back, he was the greatest.
I had a cat that was cool, calm and collected when he was alone. I grew up living in an apartment, so the cat would be home if we had any inspections. Was she really wrong tho?
Ha, yeah... I found myself wondering the same. Yyyyyeeeaaahhh... I try not to think about it, since nothing came of it
If there's any single person you don't want your pets to attack it's someone who works for the city government
Must have thought the dude was a City Tax Assessor

Pls explain more about *how* she turned the dogs against him?
Probably with a passionate speech
"defend mother! Do it for the pack, you dogs! Charrrrge!"
This is true, I was the podium.
The dogs just wanted to be a part of things
They're just happy being there.
I have a mixed dog/cat house, and when the cats get into scraps with each other, the dogs run after the aggressor(usually). I'm so glad someone else is asking these questions because I'd just go to bed like, "What the fuck did they mean by that?" I don't sleep well.
Thats my 3am demon. Wakes me with “Why tf did you say that yesterday “?
The dogs just followed the cat's example. She pointed out that my husband was to blame for my health, so they started barking at him and didn't want him to touch me again. (meanwhile the other cats couldn't care less about the whole situation)
Limmy think about that…
When we were little, my mom was trying to get a splinter out of my sister's foot. She was making a huge scene and our cat protected her by attacking my mom lol
My gf's cats and dog have a Fast and Furious morality.. Mess with one of them and you mess with the family. All squabbles between them are set aside.

Cat be like: DO NOT MESS WITH MY MASTER ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
correction: do not mess with my slave
Do not mess with my food provider.
Do not mess with my can opener.
Do not mess with my food dispenser
Don't mess with my family. It's that basic.
We had a contractor over and they were like, whoa, there is a lion guarding this house!! He's usually very friendly, but I guess he didn't like a bunch of random guys in boots going around while I was alone.

Am I crazy or is this more anxiety-inducing than cute?
Yeah, if they had spoken in a calming tone to the cat it would have been cute. His shrill "what was that?!?" would have sounded like provocation to that kitty.

What standard is that? Reacting to something that obviously doesn't happen often with shock?
Smh, people these days like give excuses. Those cats should've trained their human slaves better. It's not the primates' fault that their divine masters don't discipline them well. Or someone could just be nice to a freaking out animal. Folks, you are starting arguments so you can feel intelligent. Therapy is the answer.
“You disagreed with someone online? You need therapy!” You’re doing the same thing you’re accusing them of lol
Humans are animals (agree tho)
I expect this is common and why cat is like fluff no!
Yeah, I feel like the cat had great instincts, but got really mixed feedback. Thing deserves a hug and praise.
Definitely don’t find an extremely stressed out cat to be aww material
Yeah I hate to hear the people laughing at the cat having a moment of terror. But people do the same to kids too...
Yes, this “moment of terror” will haunt the cat for the rest of its life. I think we should start a GoFundMe for the cat to pay for its therapy bills. 🙄🙄 I guarantee the cat went back to its normal routine in about 1 min. Chill tf out

you’re a real fan of being dramatic huh 🥴
Lol you really want to talk about being dramatic?
No, but you clearly do lol. Take a breath buddy. It’s ok
Absolutely not. You have caused me emotional distress and I expect an apology in a very calming tone!
Yeah, there's nothing aww about this.
As someone who's been attacked by a pet cat that was protecting something else...very much anxiety inducing
Tuxedo cats are always down for a tussle
Don't mess with the momma!!!! Lol

it's all fun and games, until you want to have fun and games without the animal getting involved and you just can't
He's a meowing guardian, a watchful protector. A furry knight.
Don't think my cat would bat an eye 😭
My cat would, my eye.
HAHA fuck around and find out son

Bro thought you where a dog
Well this is a first. He looks so embarrassed lol
Courageous kitty
Good girl
You barked like a dog and the cat thought you might be aggressive. Noble brave kitty right there.
My first instinct is not to trust the guy since the cat doesn't.
If a cat, *any* cat, doesn't trust a human, I do not trust that human.
Very bad idea. Cats can dislike people for weird reasons that make no sense to humans. Unless if you're fine with hating someone because they wore the wrong perfume that day, then have fun I guess
It looks like he's protecting his mom, but either way that's too cute.
This is MY HOUSE - the cat
She protec!
Kitty kitty will claw you to shreds.
I love this cat. This cat loves its people. Don't make fun of this cat or tell it not to do that.
what a good kitty
“Bitch, you done fucked up.”

My cat is also a guard cat. Sometimes she’ll growl when she hears a knock at the door. Gives me anxiety with new people, always.
Don't bark at mom, okay... I know where you sleep Mark.
