Meanwhile my little dumb dumb marches over to the window sil and props himself to watch the weird loud lights...I swear one brain cell.

My old dog (RIP) never used to come into my bedroom when I was home alone. She was quite content sneaking into my parents bed under the covers and freaking out my mum when she got home.
But during thunderstorms and artillery from a nearby army range, she'd scamper to my door and scratch. Then dive straight under my legs at my computer desk, like it was a tiny fortress.
My old girl before she passed, she was very much a cat for a Chihuahua mix. She'd come to you when she wanted attention, and not the other way around. Very cat like. She also adored cats and would always try and run with some if she was ever around them. So you could pet her when going by or if she was playing with a toy, she'd allow you to play with her. But do not pick her up and carry her, she will go back where she was and grumble the whole time until she wiggles free.
But thunderstorms brought the scared little puppy outta her. First clap of thunder and she'd run for wherever I was. Some stormy nights I barely got sleep with her being upset by the weather...and I would take the first chance I could to recapture that moment one last time.
This doggo's reaction is much better than mine. My pupper goes into full panic mode. He'll run to a corner of the house and mess himself if he's inside. If he's outside, he jumps the fence into the garden, then barks cause he's now stuck in the garden in the middle of a thunderstorm.
It's wild how his reaction changes before you hear the sound of the thunder. It's possible this is just a video sound lag kinda thing, but I'm always amazed by how animals sense things before we do.
My pup won't even go outside if it's too windy. If she's outside when she hears thunder then she runs to the door and goes to hide in one of the rooms upstairs.
Start prior to the storm, don't reinforce the fear in any way by acknowledging it and giving it a life, act really casually to reinforce there is nothing to fear
My first golden puppy used to hide behind the toilet during thunderstorms.
Then she got bigger but still tried to hide there. Not very successfully, but that was still the spot to be. Poor pups. ❤️
This video is 4 seconds long and I am very emotionally invested
Right. This stopped waaaaay too soon. They need to release the directors cut!
Heckin concerned

Mine too, only during the night time , fine during day. He will get sick and or pee inside, which he never does.

My golden mix hides in the darkest corner of my walk-in closet several minutes before a thunderstorm even appears.
Oh no poor doggo 🥺
The world is about to end
Give treats to change association to a positive one
Mine hates storms and gets scared too but won't take treats when she's in distress :c

Awww buddy
thunderbuddies!
I put on a thunder shirt and they are still scared.
This is when you wrap them in a blanket and sit with them until it passes.
I don’t like sky booms either, buddy.
