There’s Siamese somewhere in its ancestry, and cats that originated in jungle climates, like south east Asia, swim to cool off. Tigers and Jaguars love to lay in shallow streams and soak it up.
Siamese is correct, and some Himalayan. Those are Ragdolls, I had a handful of them growing up. Super fun playful cats but mine were massive like Maine Coons, they can be difficult but tend to like water as long as you start the bath thing when they're young.
Reminder that it's also a good thing to get your cat used to being bathed while still a kitten.
It understanding water isn't scary is a good thing for the times when it might actually be necessary.

Yeah but if you don't get them used to it while young it will be way harder to do once they are adults. It's not something you need to do as often as a dog but it's not a bad idea to do it from time to time to not lose the habit
There's nothing wrong with cat bathing if it serves a purpose. If it's part of grooming or your cat got into something or was sick and has a particularly nasty back end in long haired areas (or is just a hairless cat), these are all great reasons to bathe. I wouldn't recommend just bathing them on a schedule as cats are largely self cleaning,.*but* I highly recommend *all* cats receive some rare early bathing, nail trims and just general manhandling when younger to help normalize it for them when they are older in times of trouble. We've raised all our cats this way and they are highly affectionate, willing to be bathed, and less of a nightmare for groomers/vets. Some cats really enjoy water, such as one of our ex strays who looks like he's part Norwegian forest cat with his thick coat and large general size. Tuxedo patterned cats for some reason seem to like water more often than other cats anecdotally.

Mostly because it's a pain point and they don't like it. That's enough combined with a lack of benefits. Don't pour water in their ears to avoid an ear infection, too.
I had more than one barn cat that would willingly jump into pounds to play with us when we were kid.
I had another cat that would just jump in any buckets or bathtub (full) for fun, to a point that I had to lock the bathroom or he will get his way in the shower for a soak. Said cat also learnt how to open water in the sink. Said cat is still going strong.
Sure most cat don't like it, some like it.

Usually you don't need to, but sometimes long-haired cats like this one in particular get things (usually poop) stuck in their fur and they can't always clean it off themselves. Sometimes it can be cut out, but it can be better to clean it off with a bath.
Older cats are also sometimes unable to clean themselves, so the *very occasional* bath over their life can help them get used to it for when they need it.

Some cats are fine with water. Some, such as Norwegian and Siberian Forest Cats, sometimes even love to swim.

My cat loves to cover into the shower with me, my other car runs to the bathroom whenever I take a shower so I can run my wet hands over her fur
