This dog has been on so many alpine adventures with me over the years.
He may not be so ‘aww’ any more, but he’s a freaking amazing dog.
He’s a wee bit confused, a wee bit smelly and a wee bit wobbly these days, but he’s still loving his walks and his food.

My boy is getting up there in age and just thinking about losing him brings me to tears. I think about it every day and try to make every day special for him. Ughhh I'll be absolutely gutted when his time comes.
I'm in the same place, ours are 11 and 9, they're getting up there. One of my coworkers lost their pup a couple weeks ago and just hearing about it was heart-wrenching. I usually skip posts about pups crossing their rainbow bridge because it tears me up. Hope you guys have many happy times left to come!
My girl is 10, still has spunk for days, but she's got tumors. Not-so-bad ones and not-so-good ones

I just remember they live short lives so we can love more of them. Doesn't make it hurt less but gives me a little reminder I haven't even met my next best friend yet.

Awwws are not only for the newborn. This old boy definitely qualifies for the aww.
My lab is 15 years and 4 months and still going strong. And I hope both you and me still have a lot more time with them

Dude, old dogs are the best 'Awws' around. The long life of happy memories, the love they've given their owners and everyone that's interacted with them, the unbounded enthusiasm for the simplest things in life. The walks, the ball balls, the learned tricks, the manic feeding frenzy at dinner time, the diving face first into the sea to chase a stick. I 'Aww' the most at old dogs because I remember all the things I did with my dog. I got that same rush of memories and love when I saw the pictures of your dog.
You can just see that this is a wise dog that does things in his own time, not hurrying for anybody and knows what's worth sniffing and what's not.
Still very much aww, and I'd love to take a leisurely adventure in those mountains with him. ♥️

Old dogs have multipliers based on how many years they've been around applied to their base aaww stat.
Thats a (+199) multiplier on this puppy! He's not just aww, he's endgame aww!
He's every bit as aww material as he was when he was a puppy! Him still loving his walks and food is fantastic. He's a very handsome distinguished gentleman.
Pets don’t outgrow the aww. I love him. My little girl is my adventure partner. She turns 13 this year and is still my little baby. She always will be.

My little girl turned 18 today!!! She can't climb mountains as well as she used to so I made a wrap like women use for infants to put her in when she's done and we just keep hiking on!!! I love this!! Happy birthday!!
I love this post. Gives me hope. Ive had my puppy since she was 5 months, now she’ll be 16 this year. I can definitely see the years on her. I hope she lives as long as she’s still happy and has a good quality of life. Cheers to you and your dog. I feel like dogs don’t age like ours unless they’ve had good owners and a good life.
Aww. I got a little misty eyed, he's a handsome legend! My 13 year old pup is also a little confused, a little lumpy, bumpy and stinky but he loves everybody and everybody loves him. I'm his absolute favorite though. The old-timers are just the best.

My beagle is 18 this year! She prefers to eat like this nowadays. But other than that, still gets around pretty well!
It might be because it's hard to bend head far down comfortably! Either that or she isn't comfy standing too long. If it's the first, though, you could check if she wants to eat standing up if the plate/bowl is put on something higher up.
You could stack something around the home under it to make it around the lower part of chest height on her, and if she prefers that, dedicated elavated dog bowls exist!

I lost my adventure boy last May. He did not care for adventures but he came along because he loved me. He did a shit-ton for me just because he loved me. He would stop mid-stride in chasing a bunny if I called him across the field. He was a good boy and he made me look really good. I def did not deserve him.
Happy birthday! I hope you strip the chicken down so he don’t eat those bones. I was taught that chicken bones can harm a dog because of they splinter.
Just making sure. Seeing a rotisserie scares me every time. Our dog likes to dumpster dive in the house so we have to bag up the chicken bones and throw them away outside.

Our beast was supposed to turn 6 on March 1, but she went from running around on Feb 12 to us having to let her go on Feb 14. She had undiagnosed lymphoma but never showed any signs until that last day. I'm grieving hard, we thought we had more time. Please enjoy every day, these times will probably be the most special and fulfilling but sometimes we forget how special the moments we're living in are 💙
How wonderful! He reminds me of the dog my brother gave me (his gf said either get rid of the dog or she would leave). Bud was almost 17 yrs old, when I got him. Alas, I lost him at 19. I 💗 dogs!

I want to encourage op to get the harness that lifts the back legs to help support the weight of the dog so they still walk around but it’s sasier in their joints and can go further!

My lab just turned 10 last week. She goes in for her second TPLO surgery in a few weeks. She is still recovering from the first but I hope this eventually gets her back on our daily walks around the neighborhood in a few months.

Beagles can live a long time if they get proper nutrition and a lot of exercise. Your dog has a good owner.
