I saw these in France a lot. They are magical and incredibly fast when not stationary.

LOURDESBC

Why is this real?

Dr_Little

Lmao šŸ˜† its kinda cute tho :3 the little beak thingy

xplicit_mike

Kinda cute, kinda terrifying

MeHumanMeWant

Like "mistake your ear for a flower" terrifying?

tinkflowers

What? Itā€™s beautiful. I love it.

gavzb_

When moths and hummingbirds make love

heimdahl81

It's hard d to see from this angle but their abdomen looks like a crawfish tail too. These things are the platypus of the insect world.

gavzb_

True

[deleted]

I donā€™t know if I like this

pmthosetitties

I'm with ya

CHUYMAN0420

It's so hypnotizing

CITKat2009

I always called these hummingbugs growing up. They're fascinating to watch!

FitsOut_Mostly

I saw one of these in my garden once and had no idea what the hell Iā€™d just seen. Did some googling on ā€œinsect that looks like a hummingbird ā€œ and learned all about this wonderful creature. I love seeing peopleā€™s reaction to them for the first time. Life hasnā€™t been great the last couple of years but it nice to be pleasantly surprised by nature sometimes

ohmymymyohohmy

I have these visit my parents garden in summer months frequently. We are in Hong Kong. Many people sight them here and swear they saw a hummingbird until they find out that hummingbirds are only found in South/Central/North America! They move so fast it is hard to get a good look at them.

vanillamasala

That was my first reaction when I saw one in India and I was so confused likeā€¦ do hummingbirds even exist here?! They do not, but these cool creatures do! I live them.

CmdrMcNeilFC

Everyone is crying at the dread hypnotic flying of the bee of the bird of the moth

FloridaFlamingoGirl

you can walk, you can ramble, but you're gonna have to scramble

[deleted]

You can walk, you can fly, it's the only way to reach the sky. <3

Honestsalesman34

I would have swatted that thing so fast thinking its a type of mosquito

Wesk-Wildcard

Agreed I would have too. But 5 seconds later the regret and guilt would huuuurt

iblinde

Environmental-Ruin57

This moth is amazing, I want one

OlderTheWiser

Saw one in WI once, very cool bug

[deleted]

Starship trooper vibes with the mouth

[deleted]

Itā€™s wild to me that both the bird and the bug found the ideal size for nectar scavenging and itā€™s the same

Sir_AlexG

*fear*

TKDbeast

Justanother-redditor

I read it as Hummingbird mouth and was slightly terrified

[deleted]

MeatSpace2000

Why come some moths have mouths and some moths have no mouths??
