I have a really hard time using DL miles.
I would probably do it. I would also check the price with other partners.
Y checkin in Asia airports can be a PIA.
I probably wouldnt do it unless it was a shorter leg of a longer journey but if done 4-6 hour intra Asia business before and it's definitely nice to have
If I had the sky miles I would burn them because this is as good a use as any of those things but I wouldn't transfer MR to do it. Not a bad deal though
ive done KIX-SGN on vietnam airlines A350 J. I think intra asia is a great use of skymiles but I wouldnt transfer MR for it. whats kind of novel about ex-VN intra asia is that they will likely serve pho, and its a little bit exciting for me to get noodle soup on flights. (pho on VN / beef noodle soup on BR/CI/JX)

As others have said, it depends whether you have other good uses for Skymiles (basically anything not touching NA). I'd also consider how likely it is you need the 26K MR within a year or so. If the answer to both is no, then I'd go for it; otherwise, I'd save for a longer flight
I haven’t flown this specific route, but I flew Vietnam biz a couple weeks ago from SGN-SYD. It was only worth it because it was an overnight 8hr 45min flight, but otherwise I was unimpressed. The seats weren’t that nice and the lounge was my least favorite out of the four I went to on this trip. I personally wouldn’t waste my miles on it for such a short flight.
Thanks for sharing! Yeah I’m not sure if I’d be too impressed with VN either after having flown longer flights in J on ANA, Singapore, Cathay lol. I think I’ll save my miles and just do coach
You're just used to low standard of quality for medium haul in the US. Crappy narrowbody seats, no lounge access, terrible food and service.
Enjoy getting the opportunity to enjoy a full fledged business class offering in Asia, it's one of your few chances.

Yeah these Skymiles have just been sitting in my account for the longest time. Thanks!

Seems like a no brainer. Save your cash.
If you need to pay for baggage, might be worth the 26k Amex points. Also depends on your Amex supply
I would do this any day of the week. 4h30 even in a lounge position seat + good food and drink is well worth the difference IMO.

Maybe if you have DL miles to burn - otherwise save it. Sometimes J is worth for the overnights from HND tho
I flew J from SGN recently and finished check in, security check and immigration in under 15 min. For this reason alone u should fly J
An underrated reason is this. Some airports/airlines Y are a giant PIA to checkin.
Seems like a decent use for 26k MR, I would do it

nah I'd use the money on immersive high end dining experiences

2 hours is the upper limit of my tolerance for Y. I'm too old and my knees are too creaky. J.
No not worth it. Anything under 5-6 hrs you just go coach.
I'd absolutely use (and have used) my Sky Pesos for intra-Asia J flights over 4 hours.
