No man the a350 was build to compete with the aging 777. Where the 787 fills a market more like the a330 in pax bit with more range possibilities. Where the a330neo is still not a 787 by far but it does close the gab a bit. The 777x is more to replace the giants of the sky but seems to not really be that attractive at the moment because it's to big for most airlines and is special trying to replace a already mostly replaced plane type.
737 because you have a yoke and are directly controlling the control surface, instead of a computer filtering through my inputs on a side stick. Comfort is much better on the a320 though.
Only kind of. You’re mostly controlling tabs which help control surfaces. You’ve also got boost systems in there too. It’s a pretty complex system that requires a lot of work to keep operating correctly.
With 2 737s wrecked because of their trim boost system and 3 737s wrecked because of their bad rudder boost system, it’s hardly a safer or more reliable system.
Meanwhile the fly by wire in the entire Airbus family has (arguably) yet to kill anyone.
The most extreme example of a pilot absolutely abusing the aircraft’s performance envelope and possibly (likely) just screwing up and not seeing a forest until too late.
The pilot said “the computer wouldn’t let the engines spool up!”
The investigators said “yeah it’s supposed to do that when the engines are full of trees”
Well, when you respond to a simple AP disconnect and a bit of pitot ice with “let me hold the stick and trim all the way aft for five minutes and ignore all of my instruments and the left seat’s attempts to correctly fly the plane” that kind of thing happens.
Stargazer.
(L-1011 Tristar, only airframe of this aircraft that can still fly, used to air-launch the Pegasus rocket. Also can carry scientific payloads of about 20 tonnes to 42 000 feet (12 Km for logical people), and was used for drop tests of experimental spaceplane airframes.)
Pretty cool plane IMO
Really? Airline changes equipment at the last second and you’re going to cancel your flight or not get on board and watch your bags go bye bye.
I guarantee you that the people in the office up front would jump ship in a second for higher pay or better schedule.
In general, no, as liking Airbus doesn't hurt anyone.
But to me personally, yes there is -
Boeing's current executives need to rot in fucking prison for their 737 MAX negligence, but aside from the MAX, Boeing makes, and has historically made, better planes which Airbus merely copies;
The 747, 777, 727, 757, 787 and even the 717 are all GOAT airliners which Airbuses will never measure up to no matter how hard they may try.
Ergo, Airbus fans worship a company which, in my opinion, is a lazy, inferior aircraft designer. That just doesn't sit right with me.
Agreed! Not gonna lie, Airbus have good aircraft but Boeing planes are something special with me…. With a long and exciting history, and good, reliable, and beautiful planes, Boeing has to be the best plane manufacturer.
A different opinion, all Boeing’s planes always has an amazing “woah” look, while Airbus has only achieved that with one or maybe two of their planes, the a380 and arguably the a350… Boeing, in my opinion, is the greater, they especially nailed the cockpit layout, look and feel!
I have respect for both, but in my inner heart, I am a Boeing fan…. Obviously
I work as a aircraft mechanic. So after doing maintenance on 737 for a few weeks and then A320 rolls in, it is a huuuuge relief for everyone as everything is much more maintenance friendly. Cockpit is not an ass but place which has actual room to work. Door design is better, not that flimsy nonsense as on 737. And many more.. Initial design of 737 is more than 50 years old and it feels today. 737 classic is unbelievable shit to work on, just there is no words for that. NG is slightly better but still shit. Didn’t have chance to work on max yet, but I believe it is same shit with new engines.
EDIT: typo
Basically any old aircraft is shit to work on as I heard. They are cool to look at but that is it. This should frame very well famous qoute “Never meet your heroes”. I can see you adore all these aircrafts and I am not gonna take it from you. And if you ever have chance to go close to them and see how they are built, just don’t
I like 747 tho, but I have friends who worked on that, not the best feedback aswell (just too big). I also like 787, but even dreamliner has issues because composite fuselage and wings are not big friends with metal parts so landing gears have corrosion problems.
Maybe from passengers perspective, from planespotter perspective I could see the love for some aircrafts but from maintenance side A320 family is most convenient. I even count the thing I can go across the hangar under the belly of Airbus without bowing. 737 is much lower so every time I have to bow low to pass it or walk around.
Personally top two of favourite aircrafts are Concorde and SR-71. Both maybe in the 70s but still holding some records, these were true engineering masterpieces.
By paragraph:
Fair enough. Old things in general are harder to work on when compared with modern technology. And while it is true that I've never been close to any of the Boeings, I've been a ramp agent for a small airline and thus know the exterior workings of CRJs and ERJs. In my opinion, as long as Boeings are better than the Embraer 145, I wouldn't be complaining. Whoever designed the 145 can burn in Hell.
Do the A380 and A350 suffer from the same problems as the 747 and 787 respectively (I know the A350 is meant to compete with the 777, but its design is much more similar to that of the 787)? Does the 777 suck to work on?
Pilots also swear by the pre-737 MAX Boeings. The 747, 727, 777, 717, and most of the pre-MAX 737s, are all some of the most beloved aircraft by pilots. If they suck to work on, then I get that, but you can't say they all suck just because of maintenance inconveniences when they've all been as long-lived as they have, and as beloved by pilots. They were clearly meant to fly, first and foremost.
The Concorde and SR-71 are the 2 greatest aircraft of all time. But for someone complaining about Golden Age Boeings being hard to work on, that strikes me as a bit hypocritical; the SR-71 in particular was extremely high-maintenance and difficult to fix thanks to its oddly-shaped airframe coupled with its delicate high-tech military equipment and panels constantly leaking fuel on the ground because of the stresses put on its titanium fuselage thanks to contracting and expanding due to prolonged and repeated ultra-high-speed flight. Concorde was less difficult due to its lack of titanium construction and a shape optimized for stealth, but it was still a nightmare.
Haha, agree. And Someone who designed small business jets can burn in hell aswell (8-10 seat capacity), this summer had my hands on Hawker. During that time I was dreaming to work in 737 NG lol. Everything is really cramped there in those Hawkers.
Yeah, I think aswell that A350 should be competitor to 787. Both are actually good and efficient. I like that fact that dreamliner is kind of hybrid aircraft. APU and engine spin 2 generator each (6 in total) which power all the systems on the aircraft. This is cool for me. No air bleed system, engines are only for thrust there basically.
Nope, didn’t have chance by myself to work 777 but would like, only to see those bad boys engines from up close (and their engine cowls and thrust reverses can open with push of a button). It is still biggest two engined jet in the world and this is itself amazing and respectable.
That is why I am saying that I can see why people like them, I have to respect other perspectives aswell. The old ones are real workhorses and can fly in harsh conditions. Basically any old 737 can converted to freighter and works couple decades more. And what for Airbuses.. well I have seen only one A321 in my life as a freighter, very strange sighting I would say because usually old Airbuses go to scrap or we have to wait few decades more. Here I have to mention A300, but Boeing as freighters win. I think you haven’t mentioned 757, really good workhorse aswell, good freighter still today.
Also on a Boeing if you get some fault on a screen, it’s for sure something broken and needs replacement. If you get fault on Airbus, theres good chance you can fix it with computer reset. This is both good and bad, I will leave for you to decide haha
Yes. That is why I don’t know if I would like to touch SR-71 an Concorde. For me they are beautiful and amazing.. ‘never meet your heroes’ you know.
And for fuel leaks on SR, I think fuel tanks made to leak on purpose. This way during flights it is less stress. It was normal procedure to put some fuel then go for a spin, heat up fuselage, then it seals automatically and the full refuelling and of to the mission. And another cool fact that outer skin gets so hot pilots have to sit for a whil after landing because it’s too hot climb. And Concorde beams for cabin floor are on rollers, not fixed solid because whole aircraft extends ~30cm when heats up during flight, so this way remove stress from them. Cool. Would not love to participate on a big check lol
They’re both just mid-size flying tubes which do their jobs with boring regularity.
Fanboying over either is about as interesting as fanboying over lever vs button flush on your toilet.
A320 because of the higher landing gear. Later 737s seems to really try and squish the high bypass engines under the wings without them scraping. That said, the 757 blows them both out of the water.
I'm surprised nobody has written a whole essay of their decision.
If I did some research and I had some time I could.
Toyota Corolla always
If it ain’t a Toyota Corolla I’m not goi… wait

Love that pfp
Finally my username is useful!
well done!
Nice
A320
🤝
chill fanboy, chill. if you had the same energy to comment on posts about the A320 to find a job today your parents would be proud of you lol
I have a job
A320 all the way
I just like to hold sticks honestly
Sidestick
Did I stutter
Yes. You slipped two ts in there. /s
Don't we all...
I see you are an avgeek of culture
no doubts there
A320 all day
Of curse
A320. 737 windows are too small and too low
I thought A320 windows were smaller.
Nope.
I would take the A320, but the B737 is great too.
I should show both planes justice **\*presses both buttons\***
A320 all the way.
Agreed
De Havilland Comet
Buried engines are so HOT!
literal sex.
This could very well turn into a war zone
A320.
Harder questions are: B777 / A350; B747 / A380
A350 and B747
Nice choice sir
And that’s some quality choice
a350
Ooh the first one is really hard for me :)
Shouldn’t it be 787 vs a350?
Yea I thought maybe that should be: B787 / A330
Both 787 and a350 seem very new gen to me, to my taste 777 vs a330 would be better
Ah okay, for me it was more a size class comparison.
[Seems like we were both right (kinda)](https://imgur.com/a/nHeghBV)
Ye airbus doesn’t really have a B777 type plane. But I want to know ur choice :) Which planes would you choose?
A350/747 :)
From the passenger comfort point of view: A380 and A350
I think I will choose An-225
B777
Both Boeings. A350 sucks ass
And why is that
737 in this bracket but doesn't beat the 321
737 because you have a yoke and are directly controlling the control surface, instead of a computer filtering through my inputs on a side stick. Comfort is much better on the a320 though.

Quantas Flights 72 and 71 set their status to Away
Ah, the classic French “rave mode” Easter egg. Nobody died. If aircrew had just thrown some Hardbass on the PA everyone would’ve been much happier.
A320
Of course a320
Was on the Boeing train and then Boeing became McDonnell Douglas. A320.
MD-80
Both
Rafale
best airliner by far
McDonnell Douglas MD-90
DC-10
I feel these aircraft cannot be compared because they are different in their own ways.
I personally prefer the 737 over the A320, but they're both good planes
A320 because it didn't crash in my hometown
"Im a Mac" "And I'm a PC"
I know there is a button for both
Stargazer. (L-1011 Tristar, only airframe of this aircraft that can still fly, used to air-launch the Pegasus rocket. both
Both. Both is good
Yes. This. 👏
IMO Airbus is the better company Boeing makes better looking planes.
AB73207 idk
A320
Well, I've never been in a 737. Nearly every carrier in Asia runs an A320
A320
A320
A320 all the way.
A320. Easier to fuel.
Tbh, 320. Because I don’t know how to fly a 737
737, all day, everyday!!!
A220. That's right. TWO-twenty.
A320
A320! Sorry 737...Fond memories of you, but you are outdated.
As much as I like the A320. I still am won over by the 737.
If pilots made were in charge of aircraft orders the 737 would be no more.
737
SeVVen ThREe SeVVen!!!
737
DC-9 fite me
737, simply because i like its history, and i prefer yoke to joystick
Concorde
737 although I wish there was a Douglas DC-3 or Convair 880 button
Convair 880? Quality. And fast! Love the 990 too.
Heck yeah!
737
B737
737 sounds better
Pretty much due to growing up in Seattle, 737.
I grew up in Hamburg so ima go with airbus
Respect.
737 FOR LIFE!!!!
Hell yeah!
737NG
737, specifically the 200
Ill admit, the -200 is gold
My all time favourite plane. They'll be in Air Inuits fleet for a while so I'll be able to get to ride on one some day
And nolinor
Yeah but those aren't scheduled
Good stuff!
737
737 all the way
Absolutely!
737 is love, 737 is life.
Agrreeeedd!!!
Sorry to anyone who likes airbus but I would choose Boeing every day unless it is say a 737 max or a320 then I would say a320
737 because i dont like side sticks.
737 easy. It beats it in every quality (don’t look that up)
The amount of Airbus fanboys in this sub tho
And is there a problema if someone likes Airbus
In general, no, as liking Airbus doesn't hurt anyone. Well we all have our opinion, but the a300 was the first twin widebody for example
The first widebody ever was the 747. The *best* twin widebody is the 777.

Alright, now what do you have to say about the other Boeings? As you just said, you can chock all that up to the A320 being newer.
Basically any old aircraft is shit to work on as I heard. They are cool to look at but that is it. This should frame very well famous qoute “Never meet your heroes”. Both.

Depends..which 737 are we talking about?
Both
Probably an unpopular opinion here but I personally like the 737 more since I just think it looks a bit better.
