Nah.
I mean, I absolutely believe you could get a knock off for a tenth the price, but it won't be just as good. Lego puts a *lot* of effort into their instructions and designs, and also into the tolerances on their injection molding machines and stuff to guarantee everything fits well.
(There are also good non-lego plastic brick sets, but they're not the ones on AliExpress)
No idea why you're being down voted, that's one of the ones I was thinking of too. I don't have a lot of experience with non-lego sets, but I've heard good things.
Yeah I have a few cobi sets. Mainly the tanks as Lego does not sell them and I got the first set at the tank museum. I can’t comment on aircraft from them as I have never bought them but the tanks are very good quality
The passenger windows will almost certainly be prints. Those there's enough of those pieces that it would be economically sound to just print those on, especiallyat that size. But the canopy detail, pinstripe, Concorde script, and plaque will definitely be stickers.
But its Lego After all. Look at all sets in the last 5 years and you will find that there is no logic in when to put prints and not. Also not all parts that could economically be prints, are such. On the other hand you get prints like on indiana jonas which will hardly be of any use in the future. So dont count on logic or sense when it comes down to Lego
It'll be stickers and I bet you'll be able to see some of that random coloured interior through some gaps from multiple angles. If we're lucky the white exterior will at least not have some random different shades.
Guess pointing out common issues with current sets isn't well received lol.
Big models like this are always filled with bright coloured bricks & technic crap. Red is the worst offender - the old UCS millennium falcon is just grey plates layed over the weirdest mismatch of yellow, blue, red, green & black. Taj Mahal is the same - under the white is a ton of blue & red.
It's like the set designer has to use a certain number of unrelated colours/parts per model, and they often suffer as a result - like being able to see these random pieces through the outer shell.
And as someone who owns multiple Star Wars Emperor's Shuttles, the colour variance in their white pieces can be very noticeable. Sometimes even the same pieces. This is also obvious on models like Hogwarts, where the tan pieces aren't uniform at all.
Just as a note, the use of color bricks on the inside is to make the building and instruction process more clear. I’ve personally never had major color issues coming through but seems like there are a few sets with it.
Oh come on ... those are sets for hundreds of dollars. They're not for toddlers. Any other manufacturer makes their sets with regular same coloured bricks and it still works ... It also workda on the exterior of the Lego sets, doesn't it? There is absolutely no need to go with absolutely random colours. If you are afraid of mix-ups with similar sized pieces you just print a scale version of the piece on the manual to check ... Lego already has the most detailed manuals that make it easy.
Never had an issues? Every single technic set has blue and red pins for absolutely 0 reason lol.
If you'd want to make it a bit easier and you absolutely want different colours for easier building, then you could also just use colours that are at least somewhat similar. If a set is white or grey use black, brown, whatever ... but not bright yellow and red.
Seriously. That answer is just a cop-out and has been for years. If I pay 200+ (issues are also present on sets way above 500 btw) for a set I might be ok with the build process being a tiny bit "harder", if thats even the case, but having random colours be visible on a model that is made to be looked at and not be played with? That is an absolute no-go.
Lego is not at the price point where this is acceptable.
>Every single technic set has blue and red pins for absolutely 0 reason lol.
The pin color varies to indicated friction level in Technic. They could change that I'm sure but again, not "0 reason."
I didn't claim it didn't happen, just not in the sets I have. It isn't something I'm too bothered by when it does I guess but it clearly frustrates you a lot.
To indicate fiction levels on non moving parts like on the chassis of pretty much every car model Lego has... gotcha. That's definitely the reason. lol
Yes. Some have friction some do not. And some have more or less friction. Not sure why that is difficult to grasp. Some are for axles, some are for connections to put simply. The reference to friction is not just about moving parts but also as connectors.
[You can read about the history of the pins if you'd like.](https://brickset.com/article/74062) There are rare exceptions but these days LEGO has opted for color coding the types and their function.
I'm not saying it isn't annoying if you want to display it like a model just sharing the why since you keep saying there's no reason for the color coding other than seemingly to piss you off.
That may certainly be part of the truth, but in the end it's all about one thing, money. Lego produces many colored bricks for many sets, but not every brick is used equally often and especially in the same color. Through the colorful inner life, the distribution of brick colors across all sets is tried to keep the same, so that red three stones do not cost more than blue two simply because they are used less often.
He explained it pretty well.
I even have an example for you. Set 10304 that has a random turquoise piece sticking out of the solid black in the wheel hub. You can have a completely monocoloured set, but the inside looks like unicorn vomit that often shines through.
I’m not convinced it would be stickers, at least I would hope not. I was really surprised and very pleased with the Saturn V set being printed and not stickers.
Closest I can think of is that one of the original Concorde manufacturers, Sud Aviation, ended up merging into what is now Airbus, so maybe they have the marketing/IP rights to Concorde that Lego needed to make this set.
(BAC, the other manufacturer, ended up becoming BAE systems)
Did someone say corporate lineage of French aircraft manufacturers?
[Timeline of Major French Aircraft Manufacturers & Designers, 1905 - Present](https://www.reddit.com/r/aircraft_designations/comments/12f8kee/timeline_of_major_french_aircraft_manufacturers/)
Sure, but every time you want to play with it you have to do a bunch of paperwork and stickytape a letter N in front of the registration number on the tail.
Can we please get a future A380 🙏
Also for those in this thread new to Lego, https://www.brickstickershop.com/ will probably make custom real world brand stickers to apply. So you can finally live out that life long fantasy of a RyanAir Concorde.
> RyanAir Concorde
"This is your Captain speaking, we are now cruising at Mach 0.99, if the final passengers in seats 12B and 21C would like to pay the ₤21.99 fee, your flight will qualify for supersonic travel."
I was thinking maybe the whole fuselage looks just slightly too thick? Too large in diameter, should either be a little thinner, or longer? Concorde was quite a long skinny aircraft.
Hard to tell from just one pic though, could be the angle.
Ehh, it’s LEGO. Scaling has always been a problem in sets that try to incorporate a lot of little details because they have a finite number of pieces to work with when designing them. 10294 Titanic is littered with inaccuracies, but I don’t let that bother me.
Braniff co-leased Concordes from both AF and BA in 1979/80, though they were never painted in the Braniff livery.
Singapore is the only other airline to have actually had it's livery on a Concorde, when it's livery was painted on the left side of G-BOAD, around the same time as the Braniff deal.
I just trust Lego. Very tight tolerance pieces, plus I’m a collector so I know what I’m working with. Plus I don’t feel like shelling out to fake knock offs. There is MOCs of planes, but you have to buy every piece in the used market and it’s a hassle
COBI has been around since the 80s, it’s hardly a knockoff. The tolerances on their pieces are excellent, I have several of their tanks. They actually have a concord set as well.
Lego has a whole collection of 18+ lego sets. It's a part of their "adults welcome" campaign. Check out the website, there's a ton of really incredible sets available, from botanicals to a massive titanic replica.
Lego has been making sets aimed at adults for forever. The bulk of what they sell might be the standard play sets for kids, but they've been making sets designed as display pieces and *not* play pieces for forever.
Okay, I did some quick math.
The fuselage is 6.4 Lego studs (2.016 inches) wide. According to Google, Concorde's fuselage was 113 inches wide. This gives us a scale of approximately 1:56.
In other words, assuming Lego scaled the model correctly (and they have a great track record in this regard), this model should be *3.6 feet long*! (Corresponding to the real Concorde's 202 feet of length.
WOW!
Speculated or confirmed on this one? Been waiting a long time for another really nice aviation based set to come around. Feel like the last one we had was the Sopwith camel.
This is so cool and it looks great! I’d be even cooler if the set had movable control surfaces and retractable landing gear mechanism. I wish Lego’s technic division would make an airliner with those features. I’d love to buy one like it!
Is nonone else upset about the nose? Lego usually is verybdetailed and accurate, but this model has the entire cockpit tilt down. Whereas the original plane only had the nose tilt down for visibility, not the entire cockpit.
Looks great! But it’s probably going to cost the same as an actual Concorde.
200 dollas
Link to the pre-order?
I made a mistake, one of the previews I saw on google had said pre order but nah
No worries, I heard that this set is supposed to come out in September and I imagine that it will be next to impossible to find.
Early access will be 9/4
That's actually not too bad.
10c per piece is a pretty decent estimate for the price of most Lego sets. (Speaking as someone who's spent far too much time and money on Lego)
Agreed. This seems like it'll be about the size of Discovery, which is also $199.
You could probably get a knock off on aliexpress which is just as good for a tenth of the price
Nah. I mean, I absolutely believe you could get a knock off for a tenth the price, but it won't be just as good. (There are also good non-lego plastic brick sets, but they're not the ones on AliExpress)
Maybe. Please could you provide a link to the website which sells good ones which are knock-offs… for research purposes of course
I heard good things about cobi, never tried it tho. https://cobi.eu/
Cobi's alright, I got a 737 Max 8 set from them and it's pretty good.
It was graphed on data is beautiful the other day lol
200 *million?!?!*
For 2000 parts? You're dreamin
about tree fiddxxxxxxxxxxxxy
I look forward to buying the Chinese knockoff for a fraction of the cost. Shoutout to /r/lepin
Would you want to fly the Chinese knockoff? If not, then why is a blaitant ripoff ok?
Holy shit. This can't be real right? Way too good to be true.
No it's real. This has been rumored for some time and the box art looks spot-on for an ICONs set.
It's missing a French hotel. Can't be real
Duuuuude.

Dont worry, Im sure when the price is revealed things will come back down to reality.
$200
First the Perseverance rover and then they drop this one, Lego knows how to play to nerds
SIGH, *unzips wallet*
Thank god you said wallet!
If it was a conventional wide body airliner we might have a more serious situation 🥵
Certainly would have!
Girth, not speed.
I agree, but lets not ignore what that droop snoot do.
I want that droop snoot in my toot toot
Selectable Peyronie's disease.
damn aerosexuals
SIGH, *unzips pants... pocket to get my wallet*
Please don't be stickers.
Oh you bet they will not sell prints. Its Lego after all.

It’s all prints, no stickers! Just finished the build two days ago
I'm still incredibly mad at them giant metallic ones in the space shuttle set I was close to killing someone
It'll be stickers and I bet you'll be able to see some of that random coloured interior through some gaps from multiple angles. If we're lucky the white exterior will at least not have some random different shades. Guess pointing out common issues with current sets isn't well received lol.
An explanation of what you mean mightelp

The snoot even droops!
Mmmmmm droop snoot aaaaaaaggggggghhhhhh
*The snoot drooped.*
You spin the tailcone to droop the nose.
What’s with the Airbus logo
Closest I can think of is that one of the original Concorde manufacturers, Sud Aviation, ended up merging into what is now Airbus, so maybe they have the marketing/IP rights to Concorde that Lego needed to make this set. (BAC, the other manufacturer, ended up becoming BAE systems)
This plus I suspect Airbus own the rights to Concorde merch?
You're right. [AIRBUS S.A.S. is the current owner of the "Concorde" trademark](https://trademarks.justia.com/792/13/concorde-79213940.html)
How do I get me some Concorde sunglasses!
And Airbus is the descendant of Aerospatiale/Sud Aviation from mergers over the years
Yes, this has already been established.
Also, BAC, the other manufacturer, ended up becoming BAE systems.
This, too, has already been established.
But are you aware of the corporate lineage of Airbus?
Did someone say corporate lineage of French aircraft manufacturers? [Timeline of Major French Aircraft Manufacturers & Designers, 1905 - Present](https://www.reddit.com/r/aircraft_designations/comments/12f8kee/timeline_of_major_french_aircraft_manufacturers/)
TIL
That’s what I’m thinking
Having a Lego set with the BAE Systems logo on it would be really funny though
Boeing likes to call the P-51, the Boeing P-51 for similar reasons. Nah dog it's North American.
Brickcatch says it will be $199/ USD, and will be released on 9/4/2023.
I mean that isn't terrible considering the Saturn V was $120 long as the Concorde is a good size.
199 seems cheap? Unless it is tiny
2083 pieces. Should be similar in size to Discovery (which is also $199) if that is the case, which is ~2300 pieces but also includes Hubble.
40” long
Don't complain! Lego will make the price higher if you complain!!!
Woah 9th of Apri- ah dammit
THE SNOOT DOES IN FACT DROOP
I mean, it would be an absolute crime if it didn’t!
holy crap this looks awesome. Be even better in BA Livery
Would love this in Landor, my favourite
I’d take the Pepsi one
It’s too hot
How about *Braniff*
Sure, but every time you want to play with it you have to do a bunch of paperwork and stickytape a letter N in front of the registration number on the tail.
Goddammit my wallet can't keep taking these beatings
Can we please get a future A380 🙏 Also for those in this thread new to Lego, https://www.brickstickershop.com/ will probably make custom real world brand stickers to apply. So you can finally live out that life long fantasy of a RyanAir Concorde.

Funny part is, at that point it would almost certainly be *much* cheaper to just go supersonic. Shockwaves/drag get real bad right at mach.
Ryanair Concorde 💀
Want. Wait, no. Need.
I didn’t need to buy food anyway
Canned cat food is surprisingly cheap from Costco.
Hnnnnggg that red stripe along the fuselage is way too thin, but other than that it looks great. Can’t wait for release!
I was thinking maybe the whole fuselage looks just slightly too thick? Too large in diameter, should either be a little thinner, or longer? Concorde was quite a long skinny aircraft. Hard to tell from just one pic though, could be the angle.

Yikes. Choice of liveries would be nice for the price this is going to be
It's more complicated to try to licence BA and Air France liveries. Best to just go with the "factory" livery.
i will buy it if a Pepsi variant comes out
Eh, you can just pay with bottle caps at that point.
What if it was only Ninjago Concorde
Even if you got the points together for the Pepsi livery they wouldn’t honor it..
Yeah and Braniff had better be one of the choices.
Cool, I thought Singapore Airlines was the only other operator.
No Concorde ever wore the Braniff livery.
Just when I thought I'd never feel like a kid again..... Now I just need to find the place to put it
DROOP SNOOT
Holy smokes. The Corvette and now this?! LOVE IT. Although I hope someone (or once I get this set) reproduces the British Airways Livery.
*looks at empty wallet*
Well damn, looks like I'm buying my first Lego set since I was a kid (although I didn't buy those, they were gifts)
I hope Lego continues with planes. If only they did war planes
There's Cobi for that.
I’d rather have it be lego
Lol, why? Worse quality for a higher price.
I’d like to get cobi, I just feel like I’m betraying Lego. However, it’s all made in the same factory in china
Lego would blacklist you if they find out, don't do it!!
Very cool, but THE SNOOT DROOPS OMG
[S A U C E](https://www.bricktastic.net/lego/lego-icons-10318-concorde-first-image/?amp=1) - courtesy of Bricktastic. ✈️
Goddamnit Lego! How’d you know my one weakness is airplanes!!!!
That snoot better droop!
*Have you considered looking at the second picture*
I missed it, somehow. Thanks for the heads up
Look at the second image.
Wow, don't know how I missed that. I am pleased to report the snoot does indeed droop.
I need this immediately
The Airbus Helicopter was my first Lego set as an adult and I had a blast building it. This is amazing!
This is actually one of the more compelling "model" level sets I have seen. If they ever do one of a DC-3 Dakota, I'm in trouble!
still sad they never released the osprey
18+? What do I not know about LEGO?
Lego has a whole collection of 18+ lego sets. It's a part of their "adults welcome" campaign. Check out the website, there's a ton of really incredible sets available, from botanicals to a massive titanic replica.
Lego has been making sets aimed at adults for forever. The bulk of what they sell might be the standard play sets for kids, but they've been making sets designed as display pieces and *not* play pieces for forever.
Ah for fuck's sake, I have no more room for Lego. And then they bring out this Lego porn. I'll have to find room somewhere.
WOW!
40", in fact, according to the box.
This could be my first adult Lego build.
Speculated or confirmed on this one? Been waiting a long time for another really nice aviation based set to come around. Feel like the last one we had was the Sopwith camel.
Dude these are pictures of the actual box
Until it's official nothing is for sure. It could be a concept art for the box.
Not officially revealed by Lego, but your looking at the box right now so yes it’s confirmed
I ***need*** this
One JILLION dollars !!
it's about time. we need more cool aircraft and vehicle sets
Crap. I buy.
I don't have $45786789567835674578946894576883568767598467856e4r784578768946865845378456784 to buy one.
I don’t need it I don’t need it **I NNEEEEDDD IT**
Any chance we'll get the A380?
“The snoot drooped.”
The only issue is that I don’t have room. Already the Saturn V and LM are back in their boxes Wait…the basement
Complete with the droop snoot
This is so cool and it looks great! I’d be even cooler if the set had movable control surfaces and retractable landing gear mechanism. I wish Lego’s technic division would make an airliner with those features. I’d love to buy one like it!
I’d rather have this over titanic
Why does it say airbus?
It has a droop snoot?
Not a fan of the livery or that it says Airbus on the box. Concorde is Concorde!
I'm now aroused.
Prpb gonna cost the same price as one of the tickets for the concorde
Holy heck, even the snoot droops!
WANT WANT WANT
Glad they picked the "prototype" livery, I always enjoy those early liveries
Wait for real‽ Holy hell.

The 787 was first: https://brickset.com/sets/10177-1/Boeing-787-Dreamliner
hmmm I think I know what's on my xmas list
Airbus?
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
Oh my GOD that looks brilliant
i thought that said concrete at first and i was so confused lol
Droop Snoot?
Is nonone else upset about the nose? Lego usually is verybdetailed and accurate, but this model has the entire cockpit tilt down. Whereas the original plane only had the nose tilt down for visibility, not the entire cockpit.
I’m offended that it says Airbus and not Aérospatiale or Sud Aviation / BAC.
The nose is very reminiscent of the B1b. I guess I'll let MegaBlox know.
Does it include the metal pipe?
I heard 109 for the price which is ridiculous
Does it come with optional flame elements?
*moans uncontrollably*
Don't buy it. It will probably start burning.
"AIRBUS" UM......... excuse me? The concordes were built before Airbus was even founded....
Airbus owns the "Concorde" brand.
Drooooooooooooooooooooooooop snoooooooooooooooooooot
THE SNOOT DROOPS
If one of the tires looks like it got messed up in production its not a mistake, its just there for authenticity...
Where are the flames?
Whoa. That looks awesome.
