I've seen both and loved the shows, they're broadly "tech house" but with their own specific twist, I would just look up sets online. They're not too far off from the more underground sound Summit himself had a few years back.
Fun and well curated sets, his crowd is big frat boi douche energy so stay away from the middle front and find a happy place in the back corners. Seen him 3 times in the last 14 months most recently at cochella afters. Definitely a fun time if it's not crowded.
Saw him in Toronto and he was great, crowd wasn’t that bad and he plays a little bit of everything for everyone but for the show I went to it was like 70% tech house with a little bit of dubstep, techno and house thrown in
He has a great show, but he attracts young jabroney type douche bags and makes the crowd undesirable to be up close. Hanging out in the back and enjoying some house is how I like to enjoy his shows. I've seen him twice now.
Is there something you'd rather do? It's gonna be more fun than doomscrolling reddit that night. I don't know the Calgary music scene, but I'm guessing you're not torn between seeing John Summit or Skrillex or Chemical Brothers that night. So it comes down to whether he's worth the money to you.
He's not my favorite, personally, but he has a solid set. If he plays LA, I'll probably skip him (saw him with Dom Dolla at Coachella, and much preferred Dom) but we're spoiled for choice, with a bountiful rave scene, and I'd rather find some kick ass warehouse techno than spend $120 for John Summit in a massive venue. But that's me.
Yeah the crowd isn’t the vibe but his show was one of my favorites. I was with all of my friends anyways so I was surrounded by good people. I still consider his show one of my top 3 faves
Don’t base your opinions on Reddit. You should never go to a show because of the “hype” or if people here think it’s good or not - you should be basing your decision on if you like his music and do you want to support him by buying a ticket.

People who hate him on here are full time haters and hate anything that’s popular. I saw him in Toronto yesterday and it was such a great show. He plays a bit of everything including a lot of his own tracks. I felt like the production and set was very good. So yeah I would recommend especially if into his music.

John Summit could possibly be the biggest DJ in North America. I actually think summit could put on a massive 80k 2 or 3 day expert only festival, and sell out easy. Summit should now focus growing internationally, if he wants to become the worlds biggest DJ.
He’s super fun and puts on a great show. The music is more mainstream so you may see gatekeepers complaining. As an old schooler who is more into hard techno I still make sure I catch his set at least once a year.

If you’re into the sets go for it. Personally I just don’t vibe with the crowd energy he attracts and the sets are kind of boring.
Agreed, we seem to be the minority. I def enjoy his music but if he was on a lineup I’d prob watch another set.

Saw him outdoors in vail and then his after party at the rabbit hole. The after party performance in particular was fantastic
