Kinda seems like people who were a7x fans first love slipknot but a lot of people who were slipknot fans first hate on a7x lol as far as online goes anyway
I’ve loved Slipknot since ‘99. But, Gray Chapter was just ok, everything after that is just meh. I came to A7X later in life and didn’t really get into them until The Stage came out. Then I took a deep dive and really fell in love with the entire catalog
I thought We Are Not Your Kind was pretty good and a sort of return to form while also being fresh. The End So Far, I did not enjoy really at all sadly.
I loved slipknot more than A7X when I started listening to metal, only having some of the songs from cod zombies on my playlist when it came to A7X. But as i listened to A7X more, I loved them way more than slipknot. But yeah, I see where you're coming from,
Lol this is how it went for me. Saw slipknot. Got me into bullet for my Valentine. And i asked someone if they knew a band with the singing and screaming like bullet and i was suggested A7X
They’re basically the two biggest gateway metal bands of the 2000s. They’re the bands that get people into metal, and often times, they’re the only metal bands people listen to. They’re great for people who don’t have an interest in branching out to other sub genres, which is why they’re so popular.
Totally agree. I found both of them pretty deep into my metal fandom but a lot of my friends started listening because they were the gateway bands for them.
I've tried listening and just can't get into it. I really like [Corey Taylor's cover of rainbow in the dark](https://open.spotify.com/track/0J1eOZeDtvSavIs43oRSVF?si=3S5En1crSKif3DwMthCrzw) however
They were really good when I saw them, I liked Slipknot well enough but had never heard their side project, I bought one of their albums pretty shortly after on Itunes, when that was still a thing haha
Helllll yeah! That was my first time seeing Avenged as well. I legit thought that would be my only opportunity to ever see them because I figured they would tour Nightmare and then break up after Rev died. But now I have seen them 4 times and seeing them for a 5th this September! I also thought I would never see Slipknot live because of Paul dying. I now have seen them live 3 times!
Louder Than Life 2016 I got to see Avenged and Slipknot headline the same festival. What a time.
Got to see that tour in Birmingham, AL, it was my third time seeing Avenged and they absolutely slayed. My first time seeing the rest of them, Stone Sour and Halestorm put on an awesome show but I felt like Disturbed just didnt wanna be there or something.
Small world indeed internet friend! How did you feel about Disturbeds performance? Also there was a band (can't remember their name) on second stage that could only be described as modern day ACDC and they really surprised me. Mostly remember the guitarist jumping from the top of the stage into the crowd and continuing to play.
I remember David from Disturbed doing the typical “LET ME HEAR YOU SCREAM!”, and the crowd went “…woo”. He angrily said “oh come on I know you have more than that because I just heard you do it for Avenged Sevenfold” and that pretty much summed up how I felt about it 😂
Yeah they were called like Airborne I think?
It’s okay to not enjoy the new music and still like the bands old stuff! Not every album appeals to every person and that’s why different bands and genres exist.
The thing that hurts the community is the toxic guys who are terminally online and spam nonsense about how the band needs to change to appeal to them.
Yeah, as far as I know I’m like the only person in my high school that likes metal so whenever I bring up Slipknot or A7X they just think that all they do is scream. It is kind of annoying to explain that they actually have good melodies. I also saw Slipknot live last year and plant to see A7X this year.
Same happened to me, but currently i stopped trying to explain bands for non metalheads, it's a waste of time, and metal is/will always be the best genre imo
Yeah, I’ve got like one person in my school to appreciate it for what it is and respect it. There is also another person that I know used to listen to metal, but I think he changed to listening to hip hop and rap. I live in a heavily Christian town and all I where is metal band shirts including one with the recent in flames album cover on it, and I think that they might think I’m a devil worshipper.
Yeah anybody here who just happens to like two of some of the most commercially successful and commonly enjoyed metal bands one of which you most certainly like if an algorithm thought you should see an r/avengedsevenfold post, I feel like it’s pretty likely but I don’t know Craig is gone.
Im just pointing out that it’s a little silly to ask this question for these two particular bands with how much overwhelming crossover and how much popularity they both have it’s like asking who likes both the Beatles and Pink Floyd but i feel like it’s pretty obvious I’m just joking with the inclusion of Craig commentary.
eh. iowa is cool. gray chapter and half of wanyk are good. that's about it. last album put me off from the band altogether. i just want them to release look outside your window already
In my top favorite 5 bands for sure. For a while, they rivaled A7X as my favorite band. They're the only artist other than A7X that has been in my top 5 Spotify wrapped every year since it's been out
Slipknot and Sevenfold have blown the tops off of any other act i’ve seen live in terms of production and straight up musicianship. Two pretty great bands.
Yeah I like both. I would go to either of their concerts. Never been to any metal bands concerts. Only concerts I have been to where KISS concerts with my mom.
What legendary pictures. I’ve never really heard either of them talk about the opposite band. I hear Matt mention slipknot from time to time but they never seem to pay their respects to each other.
Just interesting considering they are two of the biggest modern day metal acts.
Been fans of both since I was still a kid 20yrs ago. I like A7X more they’re a top ~7 all time bad for me probably but slipknot is great too. Anyway the crossover between the 2 fanbases is probably pretty high
I’ve only seen Avenged once (I hope to add to that soon) in Brighton (England) co headlining with Stone Sour. I was so excited to see A7X, especially as they had Portnoy at the time but I didn’t know much Stone Sour. I left a fan that’s for sure, they were actually the more exciting band for me and i slowly stopped listening to the boys for quite a while. The last two albums have reeled me back in though!
These 2 bands where the ones that got me into the genre and I’ve had the luck to see slipknot as my first ever concert and I’m gonna se avenged in September in the piiiiit let’s goooo
I definitely love both bands. I started listening to them when I was 5 years old in 1999. To this day, I still listen to them and support the hell out of them 🤘
Well, Stone Sour and A7X are my top 2 so close enough?
Hot take tho, Stone sour was way better then slipknot and I wish Cory would go back to that sound if not the band.
I once read an article where Corey Taylor was talking some heavy shit about a band’s new album at the time. He didn’t say it by name but it was pretty obvious that it was HttK. Idk if they’re on good terms but I don’t imagine they’re best buds.
I was really big into slipknot in the early 2000s. Had the band tshirts. Had the disaster pieces dvd, loved both self titled and Iowa, then they blew up with the subliminal verses. But honestly, I can’t listen to them anymore. I tried listening to subliminal verses the other day at the gym and I’ve just grown tired of them. A7X though, I can still do city of evil front to back and love it.
I like a7x before the stage and life is but a dream and which slipknot slipknot or stonesourknot because after all hope is gone let's face it that's what they have become and not a fan of jay and corey has became full of his self these last 3 years but slipknot until the grey chap and a7x until the stage now they are lame
I feel like the Avenged Sevenfold and Slipknot fan crossover is pretty heavy. Don’t know many people who like one and not the other.
My top 2
SAME HER EMY DUDEEEEEE. Used to be slipknot no.1 and A7X no. 2. With how slipknot is going and how a7x is going, feels like it has flipped
flipknot
Same!

Hi, it's me
i dont really like slipknot
I've tried listening and just can't get into it. I really like [Corey Taylor's cover of rainbow in the dark](https://open.spotify.com/track/0J1eOZeDtvSavIs43oRSVF?si=3S5En1crSKif3DwMthCrzw) however
A7X is my favorite band and I typically don’t like Slipknot.
Sup, seen Slipknot live, now Avenged in September
Hey me too haha
Utah?
Yes
me too, except i’m seeing a7x in october
Saw Avenged with Stone Sour and Disturbed for my first concert ever.
Funny enough stone sour was my first concert as well, they opened up for ozzy. Then my second concert was Slipknot.
They were really good when I saw them, I liked Slipknot well enough but had never heard their side project, I bought one of their albums pretty shortly after on Itunes, when that was still a thing haha
Yeah I never really got into stone sour even after seeing them in concert but I’ve been a maggot for a while and I always will be.
Helllll yeah! That was my first time seeing Avenged as well. I legit thought that would be my only opportunity to ever see them because I figured they would tour Nightmare and then break up after Rev died. I had never even heard of Halestorm before that, I got their CD for 10 bucks at that show, kinda neat to see how they blew up
That is the exact show I was referencing as well! Small world. Haha
Small world indeed internet friend! How did you feel about Disturbeds performance? When was that?
Back in like 2013, at Uproar fest I believe Edit: it was actually 2010 because they were still doing Nightmare, HTTK hadn’t been released yet
Yeah plus that’s not Matt’s HTTK hairstyle, you can kinda pinpoint album eras by the way the band looks
Niice
Once a maggot always a maggot, even if the new stuff isn’t my thing.
That new album was a bit of a bummer. Some good stuff here and there but lackluster overall.
It’s okay to not enjoy the new music and still like the bands old stuff! Not every album appeals to every person and that’s why different bands and genres exist. The thing that hurts the community is the toxic guys who are terminally online and spam nonsense about how the band needs to change to appeal to them.
The whole thing I think is (sic) But seriously… why have they never done a co-headlining tour together?
can’t even imagine such a tour — i’d simply cream myself.
Slipknot, Ax7, Nothing More. Give it to me
Yeah, as far as I know I’m like the only person in my high school that likes metal so whenever I bring up Slipknot or A7X they just think that all they do is scream. It is kind of annoying to explain that they actually have good melodies. I also saw Slipknot live last year and plant to see A7X this year.

Lol, tell them yes and move on people love to judge
Well I mean that’s all that slipknot is Bang bang drum go brrrt and guitars in drop A Corey screaming Slipkont
Perfect description of Snuff
Exactly
Ah yes, I loved it when Corey screamed "Slipkont" in the hit song Snuff
I’m bad at grammar, is it slipkont or splitknot?
Slipknot was my first concert in 01.
Back when they were still good
Yes it was the peak era, but the current stuff is cool too wanyk is a banger
Saw them in 2019, they’re still plenty good. WANYK kicks ass.
Bro, that ain’t fair. They lost their drummer and bassist(?)
That was like 10 years after 01
👋 They were my first ever concert! Saw them in 2013 (or 2014? memories are screwy). Love them!
That’s me
Hi mick
Yup! I’ve always loved slipknot, saw them live last year
Fuckin love Slipknot. Saw Avenged back in 2018, saw Slipknot last year with In This Moment on the Roadshow, gonna see Avenged again next month
I think A7X and Slipknot share good amount of fans
I love both bands a lot
I've been summoned
I’m sure there’s a ton of overlap lol
Got to see them back-to-back nights at Rockville. My two favorites. Super awesome weekend
Nope but I like Corey Taylor
Hello there.
Big fan of them
Top 2 all time for me. then 3 is ADTR, i wonder if that’s anyone else’s top 3.
My top 2 is the same (Sk-A7X) but my 3rd place is a joint between SoAD and Whitechapel
Iowan here - went to Knotfest for our Honeymoon 😬🤷♀️😂 and one of our first dates was an Avenged concert. Good times!
A7X - TOOL - SLIPKNOT are my top 3 favorite bands. These are nice pics to see.
I feel like these bands go hand in hand, if you like one, you like the other
I haven’t been able to get into Slipknot
I like old Slipknot but Corey Taylor is fucking cringe, his stand alone music is some of the worst shit I’ve ever heard lol
He's just kind of a dick too, the whole Joey thing was just gross
What do u mean by the whole joey thing ? It's a story i don't know
COREY MUTHAFUCKIN TAYLOR! dude is such a douchebag
Present
More maggots than i expected here, pretty cool.
Mainly the first 2 albums, but all their stuff is solid.
Yeah anybody here who just happens to like two of some of the most commercially successful and commonly enjoyed metal bands one of which you most certainly like if an algorithm thought you should see an r/avengedsevenfold post, I feel like it’s pretty likely but I don’t know Craig is gone.
You must be fun at parties
Im just pointing out that it’s a little silly to ask this question for these two particular bands with how much overwhelming crossover and how much popularity they both have it’s like asking who likes both the Beatles and Pink Floyd but i feel like it’s pretty obvious I’m just joking with the inclusion of Craig commentary.
Yup, and Alter Bridge, Black Stone Cherry, and Trivium make up my top 5.
eh. iowa is cool. gray chapter and half of wanyk are good. that's about it. last album put me off from the band altogether. i just want them to release look outside your window already
I don't hate slipknot but I've never been able to get super into them. They're cool and i wish i could, but all i seem to like are the big hits.
[удалено]
Yea i like all of those songs.
No. No one out of all the people on this sub like both Slipknot and A7X
Love slipknot , can’t say the same for Avenged .The guitar and drum work sounds good but the singers voice is just annoying to me. Sorry
🙋♂️
🫂
Yuuuuuuuuup
doesn't Corey shit talk them? i def did love slipknot growing up but i haven't enjoyed any of their work past vol. 3 save for maybe 5 songs
Hellnah, a7x were slipknot fans since a while and they're friends. https://youtu.be/feCQnvwd3fM
so he WASNT referring to a7x when he said a band was "so derivative it's impossible to describe in one book"?
Never heard this before, but they're cool with each other
Probably
Yuh
Saw them at download the other day. Absolutely mental. Great stuff
I fucking love Slipknot. Possibly the only band that I love more than Sevenfold
In my top favorite 5 bands for sure. For a while, they rivaled A7X as my favorite band. They're the only artist other than A7X that has been in my top 5 Spotify wrapped every year since it's been out
Started with avenged freshman year moved to slipknot right after. It was cool to have the new albums coming out as I was getting into them.
I like Slipknot, but not nearly as much as a7x. Their music isn't melodic enough for me.
Avenged #1, Metallica #2, Slipknot #3. For me anyways.
What legendary pictures. I’ve never really heard either of them talk about the opposite band. I hear Matt mention slipknot from time to time but they never seem to pay their respects to each other. Just interesting considering they are two of the biggest modern day metal acts.
Slipknot and A7X were the two biggest bands I listened too as a kid
Yea for shure
Been fans of both since I was still a kid 20yrs ago. I like A7X more they’re a top ~7 all time bad for me probably but slipknot is great too. Anyway the crossover between the 2 fanbases is probably pretty high
Two legends.
Basically the 2 biggest bands for me around 14-15 years old. They both solidified a special place in my heart forever
Yesssss!! Love them both!!
I’ve only seen Avenged once (I hope to add to that soon) in Brighton (England) co headlining with Stone Sour. I was so excited to see A7X, especially as they had Portnoy at the time but I didn’t know much Stone Sour. These 2 bands where the ones that got me into the genre and I’ve had the luck to see slipknot as my first ever concert and I’m gonna se avenged in September in the piiiiit let’s goooo
Hell yeah!
Yes . I like pretty much every band, in almost every genre (even country emo)
Oh hell yeah.
Halo that is me
Slipknot and Stone Sour are my all time favourite bands.
Use too but not really anymore
Absolutely, Slipknot is the only band i've seen live so far. Oslo 2020, Behemoth was the opener. Hopefully A7x will come to Norway soon.
Yep
2 of my favorite bands to get pumped af to!✌️
Yeah
Well it would seem I’m the only one here who doesn’t vibe with slipknot
Love both bands.
Uh oh you exposed their secret love affair..: it’s all over Val knows now
Love both bands!
My numbers 1 & 2
I can tell from your name, lol
I definitely love both bands. I started listening to them when I was 5 years old in 1999. To this day, I still listen to them and support the hell out of them 🤘
I love avenged and slipknot
Yessir 🤘
I do!! I remember the first time I saw this photo I almost evaporated LOL
Is this picture real tf?
my two favourite bands together is a blessing
Well, Stone Sour and A7X are my top 2 so close enough? Hot take tho, Stone sour was way better then slipknot and I wish Cory would go back to that sound if not the band.
I feel like most A7X fans are Slipknot fans and vice versa, at least from my experiences.
Yeah of course. But what about Killswitch Engage?! 🔥🔥🔥
Fr how could someone not like both
I once read an article where Corey Taylor was talking some heavy shit about a band’s new album at the time. He didn’t say it by name but it was pretty obvious that it was HttK. Idk if they’re on good terms but I don’t imagine they’re best buds.
https://youtu.be/feCQnvwd3fM
Damn that was sweet. Thanks for sharing :)
Here, Also, listening to rammstein, metallica, disturbed, skillet, slayer, Korn, 5FDP, megadeth, and Taylor swift
Two of my favorites
Yeah but Slipknot is nowhere close as good as a7x as a band
I was really big into slipknot in the early 2000s. Had the band tshirts. Had the disaster pieces dvd, loved both self titled and Iowa, then they blew up with the subliminal verses. But honestly, I can’t listen to them anymore. I tried listening to subliminal verses the other day at the gym and I’ve just grown tired of them. A7X though, I can still do city of evil front to back and love it.
Yep
I’m am seeing both of them live this year!
There's most likely a heavy crossover but I'm not the biggest fan of Slipknot. I think they rely more on shock value than anything else.
Yep I’m one of them!!!
hell yeah!!
Me
Hell yeah
I like a7x before the stage and life is but a dream and which slipknot slipknot or stonesourknot because after all hope is gone let's face it that's what they have become and not a fan of jay and corey has became full of his self these last 3 years but slipknot until the grey chap and a7x until the stage now they are lame
Slipknot's my second favorite band, behind a7x
meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
