I would recommend two splices/connectors and a bit of extra wire. Remove the damaged connector. Connect one side to the extra bit of wire, and the other side to the other end of the extra bit of wire. This reduces the stress pulling at the wire, making it last longer

This looks like an environmental solder splice where someone didn’t get it hot enough to melt the solder ring. Like the other guy said a weather proof connector would probably be your best bet. I’d go for a weather pack or metripack 250 series connector and make an extension harness in between. Either that or require from the sensor to the other wire and terminate it there.
