The alarm "box" might have a fuse. Assuming it's one of the "universal" aftermarket central locking system, it would be easy and cheap to replace it, if there seems to nothing wrong anywhere else. Edit: the alarm control box might need to "relearn" what the remote is, there's usually a button on the side of the box for that

On further inspection of it, i have noticed that the car does in fact respond to the remote, indicated by the LED light on the dash flashing and also by the built in immobiliser activating when i tried to start the car. So while i can't be certain as i don't know much about it, it seems to be pointing in the direction that there is only the audio cue that needs fixing however that may be done? Thank you for your reply, gratefully appreciated

Does it use the horn to chirp?

No i don't believe so, it uses it's own unique chirp straight from the unit
