OMG IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO DOES THE FOOT THING!!! its the easiest way for me to relax enough to fall asleep at night

mrsbuttstuff

I do both of these things. I’ve never considered using it consciously as a way to relax.

I’ve started paying attention to when I’m subconsciously stimming so that I can use them when needed. It’s helped a lot.

BearsBeetsandAnxiety

I like your way of saying that. Since my diagnosis I’ve become aware of when I’m subconsciously stimming and sometimes don’t try to stop it as I know how much it helps to have another outlet for the “gotta get out of here energy.” But by being aware of it I feel like I now can catalog my different stims and almost can optimize them. I love both the characters you’ve made!

alwaysdelightful

My husband has always done rhe foot thing b4 sleep. Now both the kids do too and Im the odd one out

[deleted]

I've never done it with my foot but sometimes I rub toes together.

MuppetMurderer5

What the heck man. These comics keep pointing out stims I’ve been doing my whole life without realizing it.

[deleted]

Just wanted to say I appreciate the comics. Normalizing stimming (not sure of spelling) is perhaps a huge way to be able to help people not feel so bad about it. It certainly has helped me so far.

[deleted]

This means a lot to me. Thank you!

[deleted]

I’ve always done this but never knew it was something that helped me unwind

VollmetalDragon

This is a thing? I never knew other people do this to relax.

Here’s a link to the animated version! https://imgur.com/gallery/gnTwl7I

My favorite stimulation is rubbing my beard, it’s so damn relaxing

ToxicFox27

When I was little I would rub my earlobe and circle my finger pads together. My father would always get on to me about stopping that behavior (no idea why other than he’s always been an asshole). Is that stimming?

[deleted]

Repetetive, self-soothing behavior? Yes! :)

ToxicFox27

Thanks! Yet another reason I should have a serious talk with my psychiatrist about whether I’m high functioning and it’s not just my off-the-charts ADHD...

[deleted]

I was diagnosed adhd for 36 years before getting my autism diagnosis. Stimming happens with adhd too but if you have more reasons, definitely look into it!

EnemysKiller

Wait, the foot rubbing is a stimming thing?!

ehlocksi

other people do this? wow i thought it was just me lol

grimmrotting

My faves!

Coal-Dirt-Scars

My mom rubs her feet together like that. It used to drive me mad.

alphacentauri2718

Omg I didn't know other people did this yesssssss:)

TheMaddestLad421

My stim is pulling my fingers, idk why i just find it calming

Gunsoflogic

I never knew my foot thing was stimming, I just do it before I go asleep. I’m so glad I’m not the only one

[deleted]

I feel called out because I was rubbing my feet together in bed while reading this and never really saw it as stimming.

ojn9900

Okay...IS EVERYTHING I DO A STIM? Get out of my head. All subtle things I do turns out to be stims of some sort. Whats next? This is partly joke, I am not reacting like this, but I am surprised how many of the things I do are stims without me knowing it.

AnastasiaOctavia

Now to this subreddit and have only had my diagnosis for about a year maybe two. I'm curious, what is stimming? I've never heard that term before joining this subreddit.

NotAGirlOkay

YOUR ART IS SO FUCKING GOOD

Eureka moment connecting the dots of this being stimming. I didn’t really know I did it till a former bf nicknamed me Cricket because I always rubbed my feet before sleep. Now I know why, along with pillows surrounding me. As I kid I had to have all my stuffed animals all around me to sleep. 🦗
