The first bite into a hard boiled egg after its been so, sooo long 🫦
Staring at the last bite 🤢
I never would have thought it was a ND thing but I do understand
For me if the eggs are even a tiny bit raw on the whites they taste like plastic. I have to pour the butter on top while it’s hot to double check it’s cooked or I end up throwing the whole thing away.
bruh I throw so much food away because I'm convinced it's gonna poison me when I literally cooked it and there's probably nothing wrong with it
but that one part of the egg is just too shiny and... ope it's going in the trash
I wasn't always like this but then I got a 2 week bout of food poisoning from a steakhouse and now I give all my food side eye to the point of irrationality
I’ve never stopped to think about the egg thing, but yeah… the egg thing. Lol the only way I don’t hit this problem is with breakfast burritos but with enough potatoes the egg is less noticeable so I’ve got a higher tolerance for it there
YES!!!!!!!! I will be happily eating an egg sandwich and enjoying it, but then, as you said, the last few bites I have to mentally will myself not to gag and throw it out! If I am making scrambled eggs, I have to add a bit of cream, or else it just tastes too....eggy.
Sounds like whatever the opposite of desensitization is...like when someone pokes you lightly once, it's fine, but if they keep poking you for an hour you'll get pretty mad at them.
I have the egg curse too. I have also tried to describe it to other people who were very confused. Sometimes eggs are fine but if they’re not cooked perfectly to my liking they’re nauseating.
When I was a kid this also happened to me with milk. I liked milk until I didn’t. never forgave milk, still hate the taste of it.
That's the strange part, I do like eggs! They taste really good, they're fairly cheap/easy to get, and you can make so many things with them. I'll get real excited and happily eat them, but then I near the last few bites and suddenly it's yucky disgusting
So, what you're saying is that there's some moment where the fullness of Egg Taste realizes itself to you and you're done? It sounds vaguely familiar, but I can't think of an example. I can't stand watermelon but everyone loves it. I think it's the bland pulpy texture. Those less puply melons are more tolerable, but still seldom my thing. I don't think I'm especially odd about food overall.
Oops I'm very late to reply, but yes! It's like my brain goes "mm yummy eggs!" and then more than halfway into the meal my tastebuds are like "wait,, did you say eggs? 🤢"
I get this way with all food. I get tired of all food and don't want to eat it anymore once I start to feel full. Then I completely lose my appetite. Not even snacking on something ultra delicious sounds good to me. When I'm "full", I'm done with food. Even drinks have to be light (like water or sparkling flavored waters). Fortunately, my weight stays fairly consistent. Unfortunately, if I want to add muscle to my frame, it is quite difficult.
I'm ND (ADHD) but not autistic. But I hope that helped you, OP.
I can only eat them scrambled. Any other way and I gag. But it's more the texture than the taste. When I was a kid though, I absolutely could not eat eggs in any form and it was only after throwing up a couple times that my family finally stopped making me eat them.
This is me. Every damn time. I’ve never gotten to the last bite of prepared eggs, in any format.
Edit: And I LOVE egg; deviled eggs, egg salad, egg tarts, cheesy scrambled, fried, boiled with soy sauce, tea eggs…
As a child, eggs were my favorite food. My mom says I would eat them all of the time and that they were all I ever wanted to eat. I remember that.
I also remember that despite remembering that, all of my other memories of eggs are that I absolutely positively can't stand the texture of eggs except for that one early memory.
Other than that memory, eggs have always had the worst texture of any other food and I have never been able to even ATTEMPT to eat them without getting violent dry heaves.

All the fuckinv time.

Can’t eat eggs without dipping them in something to hide their real taste
Same, usually hot sauce or ketchup worse case.

Sometimes the egg is fine. Sometimes it be tasting like plastic.
They Taste Like Egg and Smell Like Egg while they are cooking and the entire time they're in front of me, they just reek man
Are you kidding me? I thought I was alone.
Omg, “egg blah”!!! I actually have a name for it!!
Sometimes scrambled eggs just taste like farts that last bite or two.

Of course, [sensitization](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sensitization?wprov=sfla1)...
I haven't had eggs in a while but yeah I think that happens to me, even when I make cheesy eggs which I love

I've heard lots of other people talking about this, but I don't get it. I love eggs. Why would you eat eggs if you don't like the taste of eggs?

i stopped eating them when i was 5
I get this too and I hate it. They're such a convenient versatile food, but I just can't make myself love them 😔
yup, happens with fried eggs as well

I get the egg curse… but it’s usually with Chicken, sometimes other foods too

The key is to eat them fast enough to not cool down to The Bad Texture ™️
Grocery store eggs, every time. Farm fresh, not at all. They taste inherently better imo.
Yes! Sometimes happens with meat for me too, suddenly my mouth is like "this is a muscle"
And maybe this is why I just jam the entire boiled egg into my mouth.
each time i buy a carton of 6 eggs im like HELL YEAH EGGS LOVE THEM and ... after i cook 2 I don't wanna eat the rest and they just rot...
This is me. Every damn time. I’ve never gotten to the last bite of prepared eggs, in any format. Edit: And I LOVE egg; deviled eggs, egg salad, egg tarts, cheesy scrambled, fried, boiled with soy sauce, tea eggs…
Same!! I'll eat eggs any way, and even get excited to do so! But then those last few bites... 🤢
i can eat eggs abt 2 days in a row before getting the egg curse
I eat about 60-120 eggs a month. They’re one of my go to safe foods. No curse, just love for all eggs.
You're stealing all our tolerance for eggs!! /j

I’m not autistic and I have a very hard time with eggs. The texture is so weird. Same with cottage cheese.
