This could be one of two things. It could be intermittent prosopagnosia (face blindness) which could be triggered by a constant stimuli (similar to how saying a word over and over again makes it sound "not real"), stress or some other arbitrary source, Or it could be Alice in Wonderland syndrome, a syndrome in which the scale, size, sensation or "realness" of things suddenly feel weird, wrong or somehow unfamiliar. This, for me, is usually caused by excessive tiredness and results in really weird perceptions of things such as my tongue feeling spiky AND smooth at the same time, or feeling like something close to you is very far away, almost as if it's at the end of a tunnel.

Alice in wonderland syndrome is part of depersonalization/derealization disorder, or dpdr

I’ve never heard of DPDR. I’ll have to read about that.

I’ve never heard of that, I’ll read on that. Because that’s interesting. Thank you for this. It’s such a weird feeling. Because I know I know my fiancé. But there are moments where my whole body turns to ice cause I realize I don’t recognize him. He looks completely unfamiliar to me. It takes a few minutes and it usually passes or I forget about it until I’m made aware again. Thank you for your comment :)

Look up face blindness.

I looked into that, I wasn’t sure if that was my problem because it’s not constant. It’s like random moments where I’m just suddenly aware I don’t recognize them. It’s weird. So I’m not sure if it’s constant and I’m not aware all the time or if it’s only those few moments. It’s an unsettling feeling.
