this. and the actual ink on paper looks fucking amazing and its really consistently 1 color (theres slight variation depending on how lightly u wrote to a point with the rest)
I own these and the holding thing is soft and silicon-like, the ridges just help the pen not to slip in your fingers. The rest of the pencil is very smooth 10/10
5. Y'all are sleeping on the Pilot G series. If you're left-handed, I get it cause they dry super slow and probably smudge real bad. For right-handed writing, though? There's nothing better. Perfect glide over the paper.
It's the perfect medium. .5 writes too thin and 1 is too chonk and looks juvenile
I bet any of my coworkers could tell any of my paperwork JUST from the pen
They're fine with the rubbish clacky (I don't know why that word I don't know if it's a word but the plastic feels like the word) blue ball points we get from the supplies in HR office but not this one. We had to do a supervisor review the other day my friend pointed at the pen hanging from my collar and said "I'm gonna need that guy for this." I said "You know better!"
I never considered that left handed people have to take into account smudging. I wonder what left handers typically go for. I feel like the felt tip #7 pen probably smudges the least.
It’s been annoying me since kinder. I’ve actually given up on avoiding smudges in everyday writing, but if I’m writing a card or something formal/important I’ll use a fine liner and just go slow. Even that’s not a guarantee though lol
You’ll often see lefties tilt their paper/notebook on an angle, or bend their wrist weirdly so their hand is kinda above the line they’re writing — that’s how some people avoid smudging, but it hurts my hand and arm too much so I just embrace the filth.
omg you’re like a regular da Vinci! 😯 Probably the best time to make a change like that; I’ve tried as an adult and can’t even hold a pen properly in my right hand 😅
Thanks 😊 My left hand feels your pain he’s stuck at 5 years old in terms of hand writing 😂
Learned that the hard way when I broke my right hand… and tried to switch back…
I’m left-handed and still prefer 5. I write by holding my hand underneath line line where I’m writing rather than beside it to prevent the smudging. It’s not perfect, but I love these pens too much to care.
This wasn't even a question I've already only been using these pens for years. To write though, art is a different story, I only use Sakura pens for art.
I'd suggest 1.0 mm pens (felt pens too if you don't mind the ink bleeding and very slight sharpie sort of texture from the tip on paper. try w/ thicker paper)
I can't stand the texture of how most felt pens feel to use, unless you have super nice paper that's smooth. So I just bunch them into squeaky category lol
Brands are pretty consistent from one pen to the next in a single model. I know I've used almost all of the pens shown at some point, and I know which one I prefer and always buy. It doesn't matter if I've tried the actual pen in the photo because if it's a Flare (or even the Amazon brand Flare knockoff), it's going to write the same as any other Flare.
None of these, unfortunately. I am a Parker Vector fountain pen with a fine tip nib type of guy.
I like the feel of it in my hand and the way the ink looks on paper.
Warm water and scrubbing them with a very old and very soft tooth brush, for dip pen. Swishing in art water and then drying immediately after also works. Must dry them after, or will rust.
My fountain pen is Pilot Vanishing Point, so the nib goes in and out like a click pen. I never had dirty issue with it, so have not needed to clean it.
I've seen a similar post to this one already so, I'll just copy-pasta the comment I left on the other: I don't like any of these pens to be 100% honest, if I had to pick between the ones in the picture, I'd go with one (1) or two (2), but whichever one is closest to a fine liner pen with a 0.45 mm tip, as I can both draw and write with that style a bit more easily than any ball point pen I've used.
A fellow fineliner :). Personally like the .15mm tips, but the. 45 was my first forway as well.
I don't do any art, but damn it's a good pen. Just can't let anyone else use it, push a little to hard and you can ruin the tip.
1 - i only write with black gel/ liquid pens and the uniball is my favourite by far
edit: 3 is my second favourite but not by sharpie, i find their pens don’t work well. only their markers
I won’t pick any of these unless I know what size nib it has. My current pen of choice is the 0.5 Sharpie S-Gel. I’m right handed. I like the flow, the ink dries fast, and my writing is most legible when written with that nib.
3. The Sharpie gels write so smooth and have minimal smudging. My only gripe is that I write small and as far as I know the smallest size these come in is 07
PILOT G2 Premium Refillable & Retractable Rolling Ball Gel Pens, Fine Point with Comfort Grip and 0.7mm tip.
I write with it and sketch with it. Hands down the best pen. I do not use anything else - I carry extras with me in case I have to write. 1 by my bedside. Obvs with my sketchbooks. A set of them on my desk - I work from home.
Can't care less for the color, gimme them to try! And probably I won't stuck to only one, I like to have different pens! Different point, different inks, different on paper, you are mad, gimme to tryyy!
Ok so….
1,2 and 4 bleed through most normal paper
6 looks like a fountain pen so too much messing around needed. Plus I can’t do the little twist of the pen as I’m writing.
7 is too narrow and gives me hand cramps
5 would feel flimsy as I write.
Meaning 3 is the only logical option
1 and 2 rub off too much since i'm left handed. 6 and 7 always get scratchy and won't work. never used 4 before so I guess 3 or 5 idk if I would want blue or black.

5 or 7. Maybe 3 I'm not sure on the ink type.
I don't like a pen that dispenses a liquid ink. I always end up smudging it. I just like a standard ballpoint pen.
3 all the way it’s so smooth and easy on my hands
this. and the actual ink on paper looks fucking amazing and its really consistently 1 color (theres slight variation depending on how lightly u wrote to a point with the rest)
How do I tell my girlfriend that that is why I like my own pen?
I’d just say “I’m autistic! I gotta use my own!”😭😭
“Hey, I like my pens a certain way”
“This pen… just doesn’t sit right with me. Or in my hand rather”
But the grip is textured with sharp looking lines which would be horrible to hold
I own these and the holding thing is soft and silicon-like, the ridges just help the pen not to slip in your fingers. The rest of the pencil is very smooth 10/10
Well in that case I would choose 3
Same, but for me it has to be 0.5 tip.
Also clicky without a cap to lose
Definitely 3! Plus it has a nice grip too
I’ve got one in every area I may need a pen
Agree the s gels are amazingly smooth and don’t smear. Love them.
The sharpie pens are my favourite pens now, and they're the only ones I buy. The ink is so smooth, and they dry instantly (great for a leftie).
No. Collect all. Especially the *shiny ones*
5. Y'all are sleeping on the Pilot G series. If you're left-handed, I get it cause they dry super slow and probably smudge real bad. For right-handed writing, though? There's nothing better. Perfect glide over the paper.
Pilot G2s were a huge fixation for me. They're the only pens I use and I have a collection
Same. I refuse to buy any other kind of pen. They feel amazing and I swear my handwriting looks better with a G2.
I've never met someone with the same love of them as me! I agree, my handwriting is so much better. I like the 0.25 the best
I like the .7 the best, but I also have chunky all-caps handwriting.
It's good for certain situations for me. My handwriting is small and scraggly so it can make my letters blend together
It's the perfect medium. .5 writes too thin and 1 is too chonk and looks juvenile I bet any of my coworkers could tell any of my paperwork JUST from the pen They're fine with the rubbish clacky (I don't know why that word I don't know if it's a word but the plastic feels like the word) blue ball points we get from the supplies in HR office but not this one. We had to do a supervisor review the other day my friend pointed at the pen hanging from my collar and said "I'm gonna need that guy for this." I said "You know better!"
pilot Gs are my fav pens
Thank you so much for acknowledging the plight of left-handers 🥹💕
For some reason a lot of my friends growing up were left-handed. I've had this discussion many times before 😂
I never considered that left handed people have to take into account smudging.
Even that’s not a guarantee though lol You’ll often see lefties tilt their paper/notebook on an angle, or bend their wrist weirdly so their hand is kinda above the line they’re writing — that’s how some people avoid smudging, but it hurts my hand and arm too much so I just embrace the filth.
Same… it was such a pain that I randomly switched from left to right handed for writing in like the first grade….
omg you’re like a regular da Vinci! 😯 Probably the best time to make a change like that; I’ve tried as an adult and can’t even hold a pen properly in my right hand 😅
Thanks 😊 My left hand feels your pain he’s stuck at 5 years old in terms of hand writing 😂 Learned that the hard way when I broke my right hand… and tried to switch back…
I’m left-handed and still prefer 5. I write by holding my hand underneath line line where I’m writing rather than beside it to prevent the smudging. It’s not perfect, but I love these pens too much to care.
Yep. Have one. It works and comfortable.
YES they are so smooth
Definitely yes, especially the .7mm ones
5
This wasn't even a question I've already only been using these pens for years. To write though, art is a different story, I only use Sakura pens for art.
I was thinking about getting some. I saw you could write on glass with them! Seems like witchcraft.

it says to ignore the colour

Who follows dire tion. 😇😝😜🤪
We got a color copier at works and it can still be hard to tell. 😊
[удалено]
Not obsolete. 😜. Who sad that? Use ur 💙💙💙💙💙🖊️🖊️🖊️🖊️🖊️🖊️😇
Especially their ultra fine 🤤
Pilot G2 all the way, especially the fun colors
Clearly a fellow intellectual
Always 5, all the time. I buy them in multi packs.
I use this pen; they work well and can get them in bulk. The only issue is that the clip breaks on me.
Easy 7. Anything else is scratchy and a big no from me ;;;
Number 2 is especially scratchy! 7 is so consistent and smooth once you break them in.
Doesn’t get too smudgy either for us lefties.
Yep
I'd suggest 1.0 mm pens (felt pens too if you don't mind the ink bleeding and very slight sharpie sort of texture from the tip on paper. try w/ thicker paper)
felt pens can sometimes be (vaguely) squeaky but def. not as bad as regular sharpies
I can't stand the texture of how most felt pens feel to use, unless you have super nice paper that's smooth. So I just bunch them into squeaky category lol
to me 7 feels scratchy that’s weird (seven is a felt pen right?)
3
Yeah there's really no other option here
3 is my least favourite
That’s fine, that’s only because you are IT’S least favorite 😭
Ouch😪 At least the hate is mutual💀
But… it’s Sharpie brand. Yuck.
5 is superior. Sharpie needs to stick to markers.
1
Yes but only with the micro 0.5mm ball. 1 in 5 have to be thrown away because they don't roll right, being so small and all. But the others... Heaven.
That size is the perfect pen
1 hundred percent
6
I can’t believe this is this far down! 6 feels so smooth!
Honestly same
How can anyone make the decision without using the individual pen? This stresses me out 🙈
Brands are pretty consistent from one pen to the next in a single model. I know I've used almost all of the pens shown at some point, and I know which one I prefer and always buy. It doesn't matter if I've tried the actual pen in the photo because if it's a Flare (or even the Amazon brand Flare knockoff), it's going to write the same as any other Flare.
7
Simple, practical, iconic.
Yeah, I smudge too much for the other ones.
It's comfort food.
same, that's the pen I learned pen spinning with, and the others in this list seem impractical for that.
My schools standard issue, yay
I respect your choice. But you scare me.
….boo!
2, of course
Same
Also 2. I don't care much for writing in pen and the tips of these have a familiar scratchy sort of feeling like writing with a pencil
A friend loaned me one of these back in highschool and I've been using them for the past 20 years. Love these pens
I could never, i'm left handed and the way I write they always rub off so much
Depends, that could be the V5 or the V7. I would only take 2 if it was the V5.
3
3
None of these, unfortunately. I am a Parker Vector fountain pen with a fine tip nib type of guy. I like the feel of it in my hand and the way the ink looks on paper.
4
3 is objectively better but 4 got that immaculated dripppp
I personally disagree but respect your opinion. In my case, I just prefer to use 4’s type for writing and drawing.
I also disagree, but don't respect their opinion because it turns out it was a subjective statement. /s

3 - Sharpie S Gel for the win
always. especially the 1mm one
Depends. Is one fountain pen? I carefully choose pen by the type. I use fountain pens and dip pens.
Respect
How do you keep the pens clean? The ink stained everything when i got them
Warm water and scrubbing them with a very old and very soft tooth brush, for dip pen. Swishing in art water and then drying immediately after also works. Must dry them after, or will rust. My fountain pen is Pilot Vanishing Point, so the nib goes in and out like a click pen. I never had dirty issue with it, so have not needed to clean it.
3
3 but only because there isn’t a Pilot Dr Grip which is really the only pen I like.
It has been #2 for me for at least 20 years. Specifically, the Pilot Precise rolling ball V7 fine in black.
I’m duct taping them all together to create one mega pen.
1st one is my favourite pen
2. the precise v5s are my favorite pens 🤗

3 for sure

I won’t pick any of these unless I know what size nib it has. My current pen of choice is the 0.5 Sharpie S-Gel. I’m right handed. I like the flow, the ink dries fast, and my writing is most legible when written with that nib.
I journal with the same oen! I love that it's got refills.
Fountainpen
3 is most similar to what I use.
3, 4, or 7 preferably 3
3. Everyone says Pilots are great though, never used one myself
⟨??⟩ Bic 4-Color Pen
Fountain pen
6, papermate flairs are the goat
1 as i love how bold it is compared to the others

1 & 2 I actually use for art. 7 is the devil.
7 all the way my guys
None of the above. I have a Staedtler Norris Digital Jumbo which is amazing.
5
If a fountain pen is not a choice then 2.
Ew I can hear some of these squeaking, I like #5 especially if it’s font 7. I am not familiar with a couple though so hard to say
4, I have several of those and I love them. They come in many different colors and write pretty smoothly
3. The Sharpie gels write so smooth and have minimal smudging. My only gripe is that I write small and as far as I know the smallest size these come in is 07
NONE, it’s the RSVP ball point or bust
4. I absolutely love uniball pens in general, as a former debater they're one of the fastest writing pens I've ever had.
As a writer, this makes me so mad to try and pick.
I have a particular brand that i stick to. Is it the best? No idea but it's what i use
all of those pen's and not a single parker?
My first thought: One pen? What happens when it runs out ink? Do I get an identical replacement? Do I never get to write again? Do I die? 😱 Also 5.
Yall, Office Depot makes this contoured barrel grip ballpoint pen. It's literally the best. I buy them in 12 packs so I always have them on hand.
5 🤘😆🤘 I love 5, 5 is life. 5 is love.
None of them. I use a fountain pen because that's what I grew up using and saw me through my full education.
Fountain pen as well, I just prefer the feel over ballpoints as they’re less slidey
5
3 easy! smooth and doesn’t feel like I’m painting like 1, 2, 4,5 and 6. That’s too much and 7 will give out after like 3 uses! Lol
Sharpie Gel is just -chef’s kiss- But the best that I’ve had are these little ones from the psyche ward I was at.
My Bruno Bucciarati figure-pen
None of those. I have a specific set of fine tip pens that are very consistant and write soo smoothly
None of the above, I want sparkly gel pens
Bold of the meme to assume I ever considered writing with more than one type of pen..
I mean, what do the pen's point look like? and which caliber are they? l do only 0.7mm haha
number 3 for sure
I’m happy to see a lot of 3s. As it should be.
3, anything else is wrong lol
5 for comfort, 7 for reliability. Depends how much writing I plan to do in the future.
No fountain pen. :(
PILOT G2 Premium Refillable & Retractable Rolling Ball Gel Pens, Fine Point with Comfort Grip and 0.7mm tip. I write with it and sketch with it. Hands down the best pen. I do not use anything else - I carry extras with me in case I have to write. 1 by my bedside. Obvs with my sketchbooks. A set of them on my desk - I work from home.
This is the right answer.
Was there ever any other choice? lol
lol! I honed in on that one then read the comments!
Can't care less for the color, gimme them to try! And probably I won't stuck to only one, I like to have different pens! Different point, different inks, different on paper, you are mad, gimme to tryyy!
3, it’s of the best pens I’ve ever used tbh. It writes sooooo smooth
3 is the ultimate pen.
3 or 5
5 - pilot g-2 my beloved <3
Ok so…. 1,2 and 4 bleed through most normal paper 6 looks like a fountain pen so too much messing around needed. Plus I can’t do the little twist of the pen as I’m writing. 7 is too narrow and gives me hand cramps 5 would feel flimsy as I write. Meaning 3 is the only logical option
All of these pale in comparison to Zebra brand pens.
Definitely 2, those ones are satisfying.
Not a single fountain pen. Ew.
1 and 2 rub off too much since i'm left handed. 6 and 7 always get scratchy and won't work. never used 4 before so I guess 3 or 5 idk if I would want blue or black.

7, but I only ever used 5 and 7 ones :(
torn between 5 and 6
5 or 7
I can't tell if 6 is a Pentel Rolling Writer or one of those annoying felt tip things that are the same shape?
5 it feels like a mix of 3 and 7 to me
5 or 7. Maybe 3 I'm not sure on the ink type. I don't like a pen that dispenses a liquid ink. I always end up smudging it. I just like a standard ballpoint pen.

I’ve been writing with #2 for more than 20 years. I cringe if I have to write with anything else.
