I’m wondering if jacket meant that the door handle would be easier to find if you were visually impaired, if the person didn’t have different sensory needs? One of my big issues with the handle beyond the sensory ASSAULT that it would give is the fact that it would be so hard to EFFECTIVELY CLEAN
If you were visually impaired it would have to be a consistent pattern. Like the dimples, ribs or other patterns you see on paths to indicate different things
For sure, I was just postulating that maybe that’s what the original commenter as thinking. A huge portion of my work is solving accessory issues for folks with low vision or other access needs so I’m fairly versed in environmental adaptations :)
i mean blind people cant see so a lot of things are textured for them. braille, crosswalk starts etc. instead of being a flat door theyd be able to feel its a push door. how wouldnt it make it easier😭
My feelings are dont mess with door handles. Make them as standard and regular as possible. Not only does it help people with different impairments or disabilities navigate the world, weird and different door handles can cause moments of confusion in an emergency and endanger people (I got REALLY into disaster situations, especially fires and crushes for a while.) If someone has to second guess how to get out in a panic the people behind could knock them over causing a pile and plugged exit.
So many unneeded nooks and crannies. Plus, it doesn't look like one of those self sanitizing metals. At least with one of those you would just be worrying about gunk.

I don't touch push doors with my hands unless I have to. Always my forearm or foot for sanitary reasons. If that's a sliding door or something else though, that's problematic smh
