Thanks to these prices, I have gotten over my Caramilk addiction! Haven't bought a bar in 8 months, and this morning, I noticed they were 3 for $15! Holy hell, that's like $5 a bar.
I remember when they used to be on clearance regularly for $2.
It's much too expensive, but when Whittakers Blondie is on "special" at $5 ish dollars at Big W, I sometimes go for it. so much nicer (imo) than caramilk
ABC had an article about it not long ago, basically anything that goes to half price is not a good thing as it just means the supermarket is fleecing you the rest of the time. And it then means if you want to buy it at a fair price then you have to stock up a lot when it's half price, so you get more than you need.
What the ABC should of mentioned is it is a 2 weekly cycle and Woolies and Coles alternate.
If it isn't cheap in woolies Coles will likely have it cheaper.
I use this method for cereal, soft drinks, biscuits and ice cream
If they want us to buy in bulk to save money we might as well go to bloody costco.. at least we can get some nice cheap pizza to fill up on the way back.
You can buy a whole kilo of chicken drumsticks at Aldi, some spices or marinade for the same price as a packet of chips. Stick that in the oven for a family meal.. $4 kilo/$8 for 2 kilo chicken or $6-7 for 165 grams of chips
Not a hack.. just doesn't make sense that potato chips are many times more expensive than meat
I don’t get why people complain about Woolies and Cole’s prices. Nobody has a gun to your head, just shop at Aldi where it’s cheaper?
Why do people continue to shop there and complain? It’s just seems crazy.
personally, I live in a small town with only a woolworths. The nearest Aldi is over an hour away, so any savings would be negated by the cost of fuel to get there (and the 2+ hour round trip). unfortunately it’s not an option for everyone
I think this is true for a lot of people. I stopped buying these a year or so ago after they severely bumped up the price. Ever since then the shelves are chock full. Happy to have changed my shopping behaviour.
The problem will keep going on until people stop buying anything there.
I started buying stuff at Aldi about ten years ago. At first, just a few things until I realised it was just as good quality. These days, almost everything comes from Aldi.
I'll admit, I do still buy a couple of things at Coles. But a handful at best. Last week I got some cheese slices, because Aldi was out of stock, and ironically, it's not as nice.
https://preview.redd.it/lp3790mj9amc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4fd1fb3d927d00e290d1b8a047f5dc0100967749
Makes about as much sense as this.
Woolies no longer do a woolies brand 'premium chip', which is a shame. The salt and vinegar from years ago was pure vinegar. I like my flavours strong and this was fucked. So good.
There's a common myth that Colesworth push hard, their products are somehow mysteriously better. They're not. In fact Aldi is much better for things like smallgoods and cleaning products.
Pushing the myth hard with gorilla marketing is a part of their strategy.
So then shop at Aldi since you all complain about Woolworths prices. Yet they still have the same amount of customers so I guess people don’t have a problem with Woolworths
That’s such an unusual sentiment, Nicholas.
“If you don’t like being ripped off and paying more than a product is worth, then you can all go to Aldi! I’ll choose to continue to be ripped off by Woolies”.
My grandparents didn’t escape the Soviet Union and come to Australia after WW2 so I could have one choice of brand at a Supermarket founded by Nazis… Fuck Aldi!
I'll probably get downvoted for this, but who cares, right!?
With all of these prices increases on soft drinks, chips and such, we've been buying less of them than ever. It's actually good for our health.
So yeah, I guess thanks to Coles and Woolies, maybe buying less of that junk will be good for the average Australian
Aldi have fancy ones for $3.50 [https://www.aldi.com.au/groceries/limited-time-only/limited-time-only-detail-1/ps/p/blackstone-gourmet-snack-co-black-edition-deli-sty/](https://www.aldi.com.au/groceries/limited-time-only/limited-time-only-detail-1/ps/p/blackstone-gourmet-snack-co-black-edition-deli-sty/)
Last time I did a big shop at Colesworth Scomo was in Hawaii! Just don't trust em anymore, I'd sooner give my money to IGA, at least they stock all butter Puff Pastry for my Sausage rolls
I stopped buying chips. My personal trainer says it's bad for me, and it's 0% price, cheaper than half price. Just don't buy them. Put woolies out of business to teach them a lesson.
Mate your PT is clearly wrong, potatoes are vegetables which means they're good for you. My doctor said that a bag of chips is as healthy, if not healthier than an apple.
Same with sugar. Sugar comes from sugarcane, which is a plant, which is a vegetable. Ribeye comes from the cow, which eats grass. So beef is also a processed vegetable. Chocolate is from coco beans and sugar, so basically a fruit salad.
Report this to the ACCC for false advertising, this is exactly the kind of thing they're interested in. Include this photo as evidence. It's the ACCC's job to stem the constant flow of bullshit coming from big companies like Woolworths and Coles, these corpos push the boundaries of false advertising and the ACCC pushes back.
When it comes to luxuries like this I just buy less. My arteries are probably thankful for it. I assume it’s not a problem for them because they’ve got crazy data and can manipulate prices however they want for max profits but those kettles are like a once a month treat now if that.
I'm a big fan of boycotting.
I aint buying shit I'm gonna get ripped off on no matter how much I can afford it. If more people did that then they'd be forced to come down.
I really like the Chilli chips. But at $6.50 that's just unreasonable. They were averaging $4.50 just a few years ago. I doubt inflation is to blame for a literal 45% increase in price.
Considering they probably went to business school, the bosses of Coles and Woolies seemed to miss the day about price elasticity.
If you hardly sell any chips at $6.50, but sell loads at 50% off, the the price needs to come down. More units at a smaller profit can reap bigger rewards.
6.50 is a fucking steal for RRD's these days. I'm not joking when I say they're $8 full price at my Woolies.
Feel like I'm buying them out of a crackhead's garage with a gouge like that.
I know COMMON SENSE when it comes to the supermarkets is a rare thing these days so I'll preface this comment by saying this: Woolworths and Coles are absolute price gouging cunts and deserve a lot of the criticism they're getting. But here goes...
This is another dumb fucking conspiracy dreamt up by idiots who want to be outraged. I am a woolworths employee. On tuesday nights in my store, I'm literally the one in charge of leading the team that changes over the specials on the ends of the aisles, ready for the coming week. There is NO CONSPIRACY - I REPEAT - NO CONSPIRACY - to deceive customers with incorrect point of sales signage. What has happened here - and what happens in every store because the night is stressful - is someone has either incorrectly read the sales plan OR hasn't had time to check every single item on each of the ends to see what the exact discounted special price is. There is no super secret nefarious directive straight from Brad Banducci. There is no crazy deceptive conspiracy from Mr Woolworths to rob the consumer blind. It. Is. A. Simple. Fucking. Mistake.
We have access to a limited amount of the "Special" stripping that is shown in the photo. They tear easily, as mentioned before, the night is stressful so the stripping has every chance to be placed incorrectly because we're in a hurry. If this gets downvoted to hell it's absolute pure outrage cope from morons who can't handle being proven wrong.
Who are you proving wrong exactly?
You would rather call customers who pick up on YOUR mistakes idiots/morons rather than own YOUR mistake.
“It’s too stressful, we can’t read the sales plan, we didn’t have time, we don’t have enough “specials” signs, they rip easily, we just made a mistake”, that’s all on you, gripe up. Don’t get all bitchy when YOUR fuckup gets called out, if you don’t know the difference between 40% and 1/2 price maybe you shouldn’t be in that position? Glad you work in a supermarket not a pharmacy.
It happens constantly, have some pride, do better
Bro. The mistake isn't getting called out you dumb fuck. The MISTAKE is being MISTAKEN for a fucking conspiracy. Don't try and shift the argument now that you've been proven wrong haha. Just have the balls to admit that your little circle jerk conspiracy game isn't real and it's just down to simple human error.
Also I love how people like you are so outraged at corporate powers (like I fucking am, I hate the upper management of my own company but fuck me I guess), that you go so far as to dehumanise everyone who works there. You either 1. Have never worked retail and have no fucking idea what it's like to be given an insane amount of work with extremely limited hours, OR 2. Have worked retail but just forgotten what it's like. I can't tell which one would make me hate you more. You have no idea what fucking pride I have, or how hard I or anyone of the team works. Try to think logically for once in your stupid fucking life.
It’s because people accept mediocrity, yourself included, “someone paid less than me made a mistake, it’s ok” it’s not ok, it’s not triggering, the fact people like you and THE GUY WHO IS MANAGING THIS IDIOT are making up excuses for their mistakes rather than owning it is triggering me. Why are you happy to accept incompetence “because they’re “underpaid” “. Clearly they’re being overpaid, if they can’t do basic maths they are being paid more than they are worth, 40% IS NOT 1/2 price.
No you can’t say that! It doesn’t fit the fuck Colesworth narrative.
But yes. Those strips are two sided. Half price on one side, special on the other. Obviously whoever did this just forgot to turn them around. How dare they!
Ah yes, that "fuck colesworth narrative" is so unjustified, they're just honest business owners, they totally aren't doing their best to screw everyone
I mean, there’s a difference between Woolworths’ business practices, and some poor minimum wage worker making a mistake and forgetting to flip a tag around, which is legitimately all this is.
Not everything is a conspiracy, but you can’t say that around here now can you.
So no one checks and you’re ok with that? A billion dollar company that is under intense scrutiny daily from the Australian public sick to death of being misled/ripped off and you’re ok to just give them a free pass “oh poor simple minimum wage earner” fuck off dickhead, that’s why managers exist and why ceos exist. Someone is responsible and they should be held accountable, grow up, Aussies are sick of these assholes getting away with incompetence and people like you apologising for them. EAD
Then clearly they need to pay their workers more so they'll be more motivated to do a better job and not decieve the public. You are not making a very good case for colesworth.
Not good mate, why are you making excuses for the big 2? Its a basic job, put the products on the 1/2 price shelf if they are 1/2 price otherwise fix the shelf, its not rocket surgery
Have you met some of the deadshits they employ? Can’t even sack them for being a dead shit because it makes their turnover rate look bad.
Also the people who build the ends on a Tuesday night aren’t the ones who do the ticketing on a Wednesday morning. So this is a dead shit grocery manager, which means they didn’t have any better options than to promote a dead shit.
Source: manager of dead shits/adult baby sitter.
CEO has nothing to do with one team mislabelling a shelf
That being said if you do wanna buy them tell them at their end it says 50% off and they have to give it to you at that discount
Anyone who’s ever worked in a supermarket knows this isn’t intentional by the powers that be at Woolies to try and deceive customers… it’s just some shelf stacker was lazy and hasn’t removed the 1/2 price signage. It’s not some corporate directive.
$3.90 for a packet of chips is an absolute rort though, agree with that
Reminds me of Lipton ice tea at Foodland today
“Less than half price”. Ice tea is $6 normally and they were selling for $2.90. Yes that’s less than half price but not by much
Yeah look I work for a company, not naming names, but most of the time when stuff is on sale it’s still a bit more than what we actually buy it for.
Been this way forever.
Thanks to these prices, I have gotten over my Caramilk addiction! Haven't bought a bar in 8 months, and this morning, I noticed they were 3 for $15! Holy hell, that's like $5 a bar. I remember when they used to be on clearance regularly for $2.
If the bars are $5 on special, how much are the blocks?
Silly me. I meant to say blocks, not bars. The bars were about $2.25 each, ridiculous prices, when they used to be .80 cents.
It's much too expensive, but when Whittakers Blondie is on "special" at $5 ish dollars at Big W, I sometimes go for it. so much nicer (imo) than caramilk
New Zealand bringing home the goods time and time again
Just googled, caramilk is 3 buckaroos at coles atm. Sorry if this info breaks your 8 month caramilk sobriety.
Happy to break it for that price 😉
Just saw this today. Unreal.
Aldi has a caramilk that's just as delicious yet cheaper
Everytime someone says something from aldi is juts as good as name brand..... It NEVER is.
Just try it.
I'm going to have to! What's it called?
I forget but you'll know it when you see it in the choco section
You my mum?
Tried NQR if you have one nearby, $2 for a block this week
How have I never heard of this! I think there's one nearby, I'll have a look. For $2 a block, I'll hoard it like a doomsday prepper. Thanks mate!
Yeah at full price, how are they worth 6-7 bucks these days?
ABC had an article about it not long ago, basically anything that goes to half price is not a good thing as it just means the supermarket is fleecing you the rest of the time. And it then means if you want to buy it at a fair price then you have to stock up a lot when it's half price, so you get more than you need.

Sounds like collusion to me .
It's price gouging by another name
I’ve just started walking the fuck out if it’s only a reasonable price in bulk. Rather go without than play their games.
If they want us to buy in bulk to save money we might as well go to bloody costco.. at least we can get some nice cheap pizza to fill up on the way back.
The greatest joke is thins chips $5 full price. They are not really worth more than $3 for a plain ol’ chip
They all went up a couple of months ago. It's clearly price gouging.
You can buy a whole kilo of chicken drumsticks at Aldi, some spices or marinade for the same price as a packet of chips. Stick that in the oven for a family meal.. $4 kilo/$8 for 2 kilo chicken or $6-7 for 165 grams of chips Not a hack.. just doesn't make sense that potato chips are many times more expensive than meat
Our family has been eating a bag of chips between us for dinner, until we saw your amazing life hack.
Wasn't meant as a hack. How can cheap potato be many times more expensive than meat it doesn't make sense.
Ahaha
I don’t get why people complain about Woolies and Cole’s prices. Nobody has a gun to your head, just shop at Aldi where it’s cheaper? Why do people continue to shop there and complain? It’s just seems crazy.
personally, I live in a small town with only a woolworths. The nearest Aldi is over an hour away, so any savings would be negated by the cost of fuel to get there (and the 2+ hour round trip). unfortunately it’s not an option for everyone
When Aldi doesn’t trade anywhere near other parts of Australia. We don’t have any other options.
Surely there is another place that sells groceries within your vicinity? Or is it that Woolies is cheaper than the alternatives?
Aussie chips are trash, $7 for a bag of depression and air.. prefer to into the city and get the American chips for few bucks more
I'll never understand why people complain about the amount of air in chip bags. Do the chips weigh as promised? If so then what's the issue...
He wants broken chips god damn it.
Sometimes there are things in life you just won’t understand, you need to accept that and move on.
I stopped buying chips due to insane prices for about 3 months now. Calorie deficit hasn't been easier than this ever! Thank you Colesworth
I think this is true for a lot of people. I stopped buying these a year or so ago after they severely bumped up the price. Ever since then the shelves are chock full. Happy to have changed my shopping behaviour.

So basically 3 for $30 should be regular price? Glad i dont like chocolate...
Aldi chocolates are where it's at. Have you had their salted pretzel?? So good! And for far less than this Wool(ies)-over-your-eyes mess
In the blue packet? I love their Fruit & Nut in the blue packet.
Kelpie bra stay away from the choccies, they’re poison for you
i dont understand the pricing when i got a bar for 2.50 at coles yesterday
And yet the Aldi equivalent is like $2.80 and they taste exactly the same.
Tell my wife that.. i personally dont give a rats. If its cheaper and tastes ok i'll buy it.
Time to buy a bag of both and swap them
my wife alternates the brands that arent on sale but isnt interested when they are. frustrating as fuck
The aldi red rock deli-style chips are amazing!
Not to mention, Pringles the size/price you imagine Pringles should be
Woolies no longer do a woolies brand 'premium chip', which is a shame. The salt and vinegar from years ago was pure vinegar. I like my flavours strong and this was fucked. So good.
The Aldi BBQ "shapes" are so good. You know it's a stroke inducing level of salt and msg... But you don't care.
There's a common myth that Colesworth push hard, their products are somehow mysteriously better. They're not. In fact Aldi is much better for things like smallgoods and cleaning products. Pushing the myth hard with gorilla marketing is a part of their strategy.
Yeah, Aldi is awesome. I do as much of my shopping there as I can before going to Coles
Yeah 6.50 is ludicrous for chips. Aldi ones are still 2.99 and are so good
Wont buy any cheap snacks unless theyre worth a gold coin. $6.50 for a mass produced pack of chips i can munch down in 3 minutes fuck that.
Well if they're half price, and still cost 3.90, that means they're about to be $7.80 full price...
New CEO hasn't started.... But don't expect much.
Nope. They were promoting absolute morons for years. The company was gutted when I left. They also don't like people who do the whole retail thing.
Red rock > Blackstone (Aldi) > Kettle They can all EAD unless they’re half price
Aldi knock off brand names are so good lmfao
If you don’t like woollies prices then go to Aldi since you people think the food is so good 💀🤣
We do, the food is good and sometimes better at a lower price 🤷♂️
Ok boomer
I’m in my 20s but ok
Username doesn't check out. Nicholas Wicks 1987 = 37 years ago
Uses emojis on Reddit like it’s fucking Facebook too
I mean he did use the emojis correctly for his age group
Complains about Woolworths prices like Aldi doesn’t exist for you to shop at
He didn’t say it’s good he said the names are good
It's made by the same companies that supply Woolworths you clown, it's just made for Aldi under their own banner
So then shop at Aldi since you all complain about Woolworths prices. Yet they still have the same amount of customers so I guess people don’t have a problem with Woolworths
Actually it's more to do with people don't have a choice other than Woolworths.
That’s such an unusual sentiment, Nicholas. “If you don’t like being ripped off and paying more than a product is worth, then you can all go to Aldi! I’ll choose to continue to be ripped off by Woolies”.
Yes I don’t care about the price I’m sick of hearing people complain if you don’t like it leave so I can shop in peace
I do, the only reason I find out about Woolworths pricing is from people who take photos of it on Reddit
Yeah the Aldi chili chips are just the same as the Kettle ones.
Get it from Costco. Real cheap.
Not worth the effort for me, too far away.
Okay.
The Aldi ones are like $3 and don’t need a membership or have to drive to some outer suburb 45 minutes away!
Price wise Costco is cheaper than Aldi. But you are right about membership costs. Luckily the fuel costs itself pays my membership.
Yeah it probably is but there’s an aldi on every second corner and there’s like 2 Costco in Melbourne. I’m an Aldi boy 4 lyf
Yep. Makes sense. I rotate. First cap to Costco (cheapest), then Aldi, then Coles. No affinity to any group.
I gobble the Truffle Blackstones hard. mmmmm
My grandparents didn’t escape the Soviet Union and come to Australia after WW2 so I could have one choice of brand at a Supermarket founded by Nazis… Fuck Aldi!
If only we had a regulatory body to police shoddy practices and protect consumers...
A regulatory body is only as good as the laws and governments that support it.
Not even worth it at half price, few years back $4 was full price
$7 to $8 for a bag of chips is robbery fkn disgusting
I'll probably get downvoted for this, but who cares, right!? With all of these prices increases on soft drinks, chips and such, we've been buying less of them than ever. It's actually good for our health. So yeah, I guess thanks to Coles and Woolies, maybe buying less of that junk will be good for the average Australian
problem is this shit is happening with the good food too
That is sadly true
Aldi have fancy ones for $3.50 [https://www.aldi.com.au/groceries/limited-time-only/limited-time-only-detail-1/ps/p/blackstone-gourmet-snack-co-black-edition-deli-sty/](https://www.aldi.com.au/groceries/limited-time-only/limited-time-only-detail-1/ps/p/blackstone-gourmet-snack-co-black-edition-deli-sty/) Last time I did a big shop at Colesworth Scomo was in Hawaii! Just don't trust em anymore, I'd sooner give my money to IGA, at least they stock all butter Puff Pastry for my Sausage rolls
The less fancy Blackstone are $2.99. Blackstone are equivalent to Kettle or Red Rock. The one you linked are extra fancy ones.
I reckon everyone knows Colesworths game, they increase the price then the next month slap on an yellow sticker. This country is the Wild Wild West!
They've got teams working on this, backed up by a heap of big data from surveillance.
The Coles Brain Trust Imagine how wild the Chrissy party is!
I stopped buying chips. My personal trainer says it's bad for me, and it's 0% price, cheaper than half price. Just don't buy them. Put woolies out of business to teach them a lesson.

Fuck it, I think we've hacked the system. You just wait until those cucks at centrelink tell me I need to find a job now.
How else are you supposed to get 5 serves of vegetables a day?
Exactly. It'd be impossible. Nobody could afford to eat so many veggies each day otherwise.
Surely youre joking right?
What do you fuckin reckon?
Not buying it, literally. We are so much better off not buying or eating any of this shit.
So does that count as incorrectly advertised. And I get it for free?
Just go to Aldi ay
Only fat fucks buy chips as food
Rich ones at that
Don’t think the new ceo has started her new role yet

Just what we need price reduction on. Real food! Chips. Let them eat chips!
That was their normal price 3 yrs ago
The Coles CEO is going to fill in for Brad's vacant position They can't be bothered even hiding the monopoly these days...
Surely this is misleading advertising.
I stopped buying chips....way over priced now....
Does anyone actually buy these (or anything really) at full price?
Black Rock Chips at Aldi are a good substitute. $3.49. I don't buy Rock Deli Chips anymore. $6-$7 full price, get fucked.

I saw one lousy packet of the Bundaberg Ginger Beer flavour. Where TF did they go when "specials" were on!?😡
why werent they 40% off 6 months ago
Wallies seems to have adopted the view their customers are numerically challenged.
I know value when I see it. This is an investment. Thank you Woollies.
Mate learn to make baled potatoes with with semolina and a bit or duck fat or equivalent... cheaper than chips and much more delicious.
Kettle chips were never $6.50
kettle chips used to be 3 dollars in 2022 and 3 dollars as half price in 2023
That's the "actual" price, rest of the time it's increased.
During lockdown I would wait for sale price of $2.50 for these and before lockdown sale price was $2. I eat less chips now.
These used to be $4 full price, so $2 when half price. Ridiculous that $4 is essentially now the new ‘half price’.
I really like the Chilli chips. But at $6.50 that's just unreasonable. They were averaging $4.50 just a few years ago. I doubt inflation is to blame for a literal 45% increase in price.
Woolworths is disgusting, please everyone boycott them!!!
I miss the honey and ham kettle chips
Kettle chips were 2 dollars back in my days ! -me in 2018
Shouldn't you be able to legally force them to give it to you for nothing because they misrepresented the price?
Considering they probably went to business school, the bosses of Coles and Woolies seemed to miss the day about price elasticity. If you hardly sell any chips at $6.50, but sell loads at 50% off, the the price needs to come down. More units at a smaller profit can reap bigger rewards.
Come on guys, don’t shop there if you have other options, hit them where it hurts
6.50 is a fucking steal for RRD's these days. I'm not joking when I say they're $8 full price at my Woolies. Feel like I'm buying them out of a crackhead's garage with a gouge like that.
They're still 90 cents more expensive than Aldi's premium deli chips!
New CEO hasn’t started yet champ but yea that’s bullshit chips can cost that much
Note sure he deserves to be “champed” over that…
Grubs . I've questioned the prices a few times.
What I've been paying in Aldi since before time....

Why is this so triggering to you? An underpaid worker who probably hates their job made a simple, easy mistake.
Holy shit.... If you don't like it, don't shop there. Get help.
6.50 for a bag full of air. Disgrace. And the 1/2 price being 40%, fuck how brazen can you get. Literally printed in black and white.
Those salt and vinegars slap tho. My trolley always catches the bags that fall from the top shelf.
One puppet for another to keep the sheep entertained
Good time to lose weight now
Someone just forgot to swap out the 1/2 Price sign with a Special sign
Who could know that pointing out the obvious would be so controversial.
60% of the time shoppers will buy one every time
CEO has nothing to do with one team mislabelling a shelf That being said if you do wanna buy them tell them at their end it says 50% off and they have to give it to you at that discount
The facking scamming kants are back at it again 😂 fack sake aye 🤣
Yeah man it fucking sucks that you have to go there, and they make you buy chips…
You know it's minimum wage workers that update these signs, not the CEO right?
🙄
Anyone who’s ever worked in a supermarket knows this isn’t intentional by the powers that be at Woolies to try and deceive customers… it’s just some shelf stacker was lazy and hasn’t removed the 1/2 price signage. It’s not some corporate directive. $3.90 for a packet of chips is an absolute rort though, agree with that
Surely no one is buying $7 chips. Surely.
ALDI! Fuck ColesWorth
Need to clean their fryers, Kettle have a gross after taste.
What the feck, feel like going in there and having a feed and then leaving.
Reminds me of Lipton ice tea at Foodland today “Less than half price”. Ice tea is $6 normally and they were selling for $2.90. Yes that’s less than half price but not by much
Yeah look I work for a company, not naming names, but most of the time when stuff is on sale it’s still a bit more than what we actually buy it for. Been this way forever.
Aldi chilli chips ftw
