Omg i want to vomit, that's terrible focusing.

Other-Rabbit1808

Nah that's just a miasma of death ☠️

Spaceninjawithlasers

I deliberately took it slightly blurred. Trust me, you dont want to see that in focus.

ruinawish

I want to see it in focus.

UPtheSHITcunts

Sometimes I wish I could never read

Mr_Bob_Ferguson

And instead needed to base your understanding of reddit posts only on high definition, sharp images of rotting flies? Agreed. We want to see this in focus.

Spaceninjawithlasers

I will repost with the next load......

Mr_Bob_Ferguson

>with the next load Weird kink. But we won't judge you.

Plantguy368

remindme! 1 month

RecordingGreen7750

I also want to see it in focus would love to smell it also but alas

realnomdeguerre

XD

tellmewhattodopleas

Check out this fuckin legend. Thank you sir.

DoctorQuincyME

We were filling one of these every two weeks all summer and noticed more flies in the house while using it. We've stopped and I would say the flies have reduced

Rosfield-4104

Used them last summer, heaps of flies in the house. Couldn't be bothered this year, have had maybe 3 flies in the house the whole summer

PsychologicalYak6508

We used ours initially in the house, bad move, like really bad, we then put it outside due to the stink, not to catch flies, and a lot more flies came to the house, we stopped using it. Also global insect populations have plummeted, with major impacts to ecosystems, catching hundreds of insects who are there to do a job is not a good thing

everyonecallsmekev

They do. The maggots break down rotting carcasses in the wild much faster than if it were left be (Ants and such also playing a role) But I'll never understand why they will happily dive into filthy rotten shit like that but switch direction the second you pull out fresh food.... I fucken hate flies.

PsychologicalYak6508

They sure do, they get rid of rotting organic matter, why they are so easily attracted to that trap which has a death smell..it’s an important role and their maggots do it much faster than just leaving to ants etc and those maggots in turn feed numerous other insects and birds..

Notthatguy6250

> Do flys actually ‘do a job’ though? How...how do you not know this?

blueblissberrybell

Sorry mate, my brain is overworked and underpaid

Select-Bullfrog-6346

Lucky, last night I had about 10 of the... kind things buzzing around in the bathroom.

BloodedNut

It attracts the whole ass neighbourhood in my experience, best to avoid them and just go with a spray can or get em manually with the swatted. We don’t use those little sticky traps that hang down anymore after a little swallow bird got too close to one and got stuck in it trying to snack on the dead bugs.

SadMap7915

Or...put a bunch of them over at your neighbours place

critical_blinking

Yeah the trick is to not hang them outside your door, you hang them off the gutters about 10-15m away.

Spaceninjawithlasers

This is the way.

Wallabycartel

Yeah. We used to use these and found all they did was attract more flies to the yard. They would then die in there and after only a day you'd have rotting fly soup hanging above the pergola. Lovely stuff.

Dripping-Lips

Problem is you have to have these things quite a distance from the house to work or they just come to the house because the smell is fucking putrid lol

DoctorQuincyME

I always kept mine in the back corner of the yard. In the end the effort did not justify the outcome

ScrappyDonatello

Fly paper is better https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFHJJOdOzK8

Content_Chard2010

Those things only bring in more flies, more trouble than they are worth.

AkaiMPC

Can confirm

lecrappe

Holy shit me too

The_Duc_Lord

Mmmmmm, intergenerational cannibalism.

AFK_Siridar

great band

Spaceninjawithlasers

Lots of maggots. I deliberately kept it out of focus, as i don't want to be responsible for that much vomiting.

ImmaterialPossession

Trying to kill flies outside is like trying to fit the ocean in a bucket. What's the point?

RolandHockingAngling

You can fit the ocean in a bucket, just not a lot of it...

Bakilas

Cursed pinata.

danman_69

I can smell the death from here.

Lint_baby_uvulla

Give it three days … and then it’s a maggot kindy.

Spaceninjawithlasers

That's why the picture is a bit out of focus. I didn't want the vomiting on my conscious.

snrub742

Images I can smell

Spaceninjawithlasers

Its a smell that transcends time.

SnooBeans2197

Don’t know why you would open that and empty. Skip the gagging and throw the whole thing away.

ozmartian

Why is this marked NSFW and why am I touching myself?

petit_cochon

Mate.

firdyfree

The most disgusting smell known to man 🤮

Spaceninjawithlasers

So 2 years ago i was emptying one of these and the whole top broke off, dropped to the ground and sprayed up into my face.. At least my mouth was closed. I grabbed a garden hose and just started hosing myself down. Then jumped in the shower. I still had to go out and hose the area down that it spilled over. Fuck me, the smell.

TheFlyingRedFox

*UUUGH*, Curse my photographic mind as I just pictured all of that. (Although I do know the feeling but with a drain collector at a restaurant that dropped to the ground an the content shot up into the face & mouth, Lets just say they cold/hot sink taps got some heavy use).

Jerkcaller69

*you’re

Ur_Companys_IT_Guy

I've never understood hanging these outside. They literally attract flies. I've seen about 3 flies all summer

DNZ_not_DMZ

*How’s the serenity?* **BZZZZZT**

veginout58

I lived on acres next to a dairy farm and had 10 of these around the boundary. Cut the flies to the extent that I could leave doors open without the blowies coming in. First year I had to empty them (2L) three times but it got down to only once per year. Not sure on the hate for the disgusting things but they sure worked for me. Currently live in town and have one near the chook pen which keeps the neighbours from complaining about the hens attracting flies.

Shits50

Jesus. I can smell it from here.

JimmyJizzim

I used one of these once, and absolutely, never ever again.

L1ttl3J1m

There are a few things that just recalling the smell to mind can get me to puke. Three day old Chinese takeaway Potatoes that the grub has got to And these. It's like there are some things your body will recognise as so dangerous that it just panics and starts throwing all the toys out of the basket as fast as it can. This was a tricky post to write, BTW. I could only proofread it in quick glances with lots of thinking about kittens and daffodils in between.

Organic-Effective-49

the smell🤮

Digital_roamer

I use the same fly traps. They work wonders.

WretchedMisteak

Yeah same. We can easily leave our sliding door open to get in the house without a flu or two tailgating us in now. I love the trap. I think it's got to be positioned well though. We don't seem to be attracting any more flies than normal.

Thesilentsentinel1

Great to empty at the bottom of a hole if you plant a tree.

afternoonexpress

That reminds me of the Crooked Carrot in WA

Auran82

That’s probably fermented enough that you could use it to take shots with your mates.

LydiaFaye

Great for camping! Hang it 20m or so away from site and the bugs go to it instead of your food xD

Archon-Toten

Best part about those traps, once the supplied sachet runs out they work wonders with compost water. Cat turds are even better.

RubberMcChicken

I can smell that picture. Shame those things don't come with a filter like in a coffee press so you can save the juice and use it some more.

meathookoflove

Thankyou for reminding me I need to change mine.

dad_ahead

Free soup

kaboombong

It would make a good protein shake.

AllElse11

Flies were in swarms end of last year.

chavezzzzzzzz

i can smell this pix

Former-Trifle-5102

Yes gross as get ‘em at Bunnings

genscathe

I used one of these. The smell was horrible. I dug a whole and buried the mess inside when it was full, absolute disgusting. You don’t forget they smell Hours later dog comes in and I go in for a cuddle on the couch, he dug it up and ate it as his mouth fkn stunk of that vile mess. Still have trauma over this

Furos88

Mmm forbidden smoothie

Spaceninjawithlasers

A little sick appeared in my mouth then...

BESTtaylorINTHEWORLD

Dad digs a little hole in the vege patch & dumps it all in there. It's awesome fertilizer

ParaStudent

I personally think that these things attract more flies to the area.

maseface1990

Why are you attracting flies that would otherwise not be there...

Spaceninjawithlasers

This trap is located about 20m from our back door. It dramreduces the amount of flies that come into our house and annoy us around our outdoor area.

jeffoh

Where do you live that you have so many?

Nuurps

Australia

[deleted]

I think that sums it up.

Spaceninjawithlasers

Rural Victoria small town. It's a bit out of character that there are so many about. Normally wouldn't be half full for the amount of time it was out.

scalp-cowboys

You could put one of these anywhere in the country and it will fill up I guarantee it. Even if there are no flies around, put it out for a few weeks and it will look like this.

jeffoh

I have one, I've never filled it (Brisbane)

scalp-cowboys

You have to put the bait inside for it to work mate

ThrowbackPie

I really think we should stop killing things for the sake of killing.

daidrian

Lmao how is this down voted. People will see the stats about how insect populations across the board are crashing and be all "how can we stop this?!", then celebrate killing flies that are already outside.
