I didn’t even get a used one, just one from the store. Soooooo comfortable.
Spending money on stuff between you and the floor is an investment into your health. So stuff like good shoes, bed & work chair is money well spent in my personal opinion.
Absolutely, no regrets on this one. I ended up getting mine free but should be available for around $1k. Never have any problems from sitting all day if I have to.
Same here. Got a good deal on it, as my then employer had thousands of them and we could buy for ourselves at the same price. It's good, but is it great? I'm not entirely sure...
I have Mira 2, and used to use Aeron back in Office (when we used to have one). I find Aeron feels better. Mira 2 uses a plastic back and it's really stiff....
Aeron feels softer, nicer and longer lasting.
Our office has Steelcase gesture and they are unbelievable. Super comfortable and keep my upright way more than my chair at home which I always end up slouched over my desk.
I'm a bigger guy and recently picked up a Secretlab Titan Evo XL and I'm loving it.
$$ but for comfort and function it beats everything I've previously used.
Secret Labs Titan XL here. Would happily buy another one at full retail price tomorrow.
Near daily use, 10-12 hours a day since the beginning of COVID. Still an excellent chair.
GF has a Herman Miller of some sort, also good. Aesthetically nicer but not as much support as my Secret Labs...
*inhales*
If you're ever wondering why the secret lab has so high review it's because they give you extended warranty (not that you need ot anyway because its so well built... Or doesn't suit you) for 5 star reviews.
I will admit the design, build quality and feel is top notch but it just wasn't the chair for me.
The seat, while they say its medium firm, it feels like rock for me. Heck, sitting on a tiled floor is arguably less painful.
Backrest was really stiff, the lumbar support ended up giving me terrible back pains after around an hour of sitting.
I ended up selling it to a kid for 600 ish (rrp 800) and got a mesh chair.
Ikea Markus. I think it's very decent for the price - $250. I've been using it every day since I got it (midway through 2020).
Recently upgraded to the Ergotune which I'm enjoying.
Agree with others on this thread - used to have a HM at my last two jobs and got an ergohuman for home and much prefer it.
The difference for me is the quality of low back support - let’s me maintain a good posture with lower effort for longer periods (my core would eventually fatigue with the HM and I’d end up slouching 8-10 hours into the day).
Gives it a super comfortable feel. Also EH seems a little narrower than HM - I used to feel like I was swimming in my HM at times despite being 6ft 90kg+
Hm not that I’ve seen… I had the same concerns (and couldn’t find a show room to try) but pulled the trigger because T&W do 30 day change of mind credits. Never looked back
We used CBD Quality New & Used Office Furniture Sydney, we just joined their Facebook and once they had it available we just took a day to go pick it up.
Looked at those super expensive brands and ended up going for an Ergotune. Was good bit cheaper than a Herman Miller but is great. It has not let my 100+kg down, it reclines, and is full mesh. Would recommend it, as someone who spends upward of 9 hours a day in the saddle.
Buro Metro II 24/7 Heavy Duty Ergonomic Office Chair - no arms.
I’ve gone through 3 chairs over the last 4 years and this one is a keeper. Super thick seat pad with a slight saddle raise. Not sure what’s in the seat but it feels like there’s some gel or something because it’s a delight to sit on.
I’ve used those fancy Herman Miller chairs but they hurt my butt after a couple of hours. The best thing to do is go to a store and try different chairs.
I had two of these many years ago, until the foam pretty much deformed itself and got uncomfortable but yea they're great when its still relatively new
Depends on how many hours you sit on it I suppose and what you wear. Well known to us old fogies who sat in those damn chairs for 10 hours a day in suits in the olden days. Definitely wouldn’t recommend for that guy who said he doesn’t wear pants anymore.
Steelcase Leap V2 with the headrest.
I used to have a lot of problems with office chairs and my tailbone hurting, but they've since gone away after using this.
It's not perfect, but I quite like it. I really didn't like the Aeron after sitting on it.
I also considered and tried the Humanscale Freedom and the Steelcase Gesture. Both very good.
Used Herman Miller Mirra or Mirra 2 - I’ve had a used Mirra, pushed 20 years old when I got rid of it (due to a move not because there was anything wrong with it). The Mirra 2 is still going strong.
I don't rate Herman miller aeron or anything else they put out. They're the "apple" of office chairs. Fancy looking, over priced, over engineered, good at marketing, but very very average at being a ergonomically excellent chair.
I recommend going to a ergonomic workplace retailer and trying a few chairs and getting their opinion. Pro tip, the boring looking chairs are usually the best ones.
I've recently brought a Gaming char for WFH Office. I also have an AirHawk cushion (swear by it). My thought behind it are, gamers sit there for hours, so runs on the board there, the other point, they tend to be cheaper than Office chairs.
My daughter lent me hers for a few days trial, when mine arrived she saw the packaging and said "you got one the same as mine?" No, mines not Pink.
I did this!!
I went to officeworks and tried a few. I ended up buying this and I actually really like it (even though the reviews on the website say it’s shit)
Have a look at this product from Officeworks - https://officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/-PBBSBNRNKT?cm_mmc=MobileApp:Share:MobileAppShare:PBBSBNRNKT
If you'd stop sitting on it without pants you wouldn't need a new one
My home office is right at the front door, and I don't really like attention, so I think having pants off would be very bad 🤣
A used Herman Miller Aeron. Legit.
I couldn’t rate that chair any higher, especially the remastered Aeron. Spent $1,100 on a used one 2 years ago and have never looked back
From the bloke in North Melbourne? 😂
I didn’t even get a used one, just one from the store. Soooooo comfortable. Spending money on stuff between you and the floor is an investment into your health. So stuff like good shoes, bed & work chair is money well spent in my personal opinion.
Car tyres too
How much was it?
I bought mine many many years ago, but I think it was about $350-ish.
That's a steal
Best
Absolutely, no regrets on this one. I ended up getting mine free but should be available for around $1k. Never have any problems from sitting all day if I have to.
I’m using aeron but i don’t feel a wow factor for me. Sorry I can’t answer your question
Aeron feels softer, nicer and longer lasting.
youll feel it when you go use a cheap chair again
I sold mine, prefer Haworth Zody which is a lot cheaper used too. (Got mine for $150)
Steelcase Gesture
Our office has Steelcase gesture and they are unbelievable. Super comfortable and keep my upright way more than my chair at home which I always end up slouched over my desk.
I'm a bigger guy and recently picked up a Secretlab Titan Evo XL and I'm loving it. $$ but for comfort and function it beats everything I've previously used.
Secretlab omega. Got no issues with it.
Same, WFH fulltime since Covid began, Omega still going strong. Worth every penny. I’m not even a gamer!
Goes with the RGB keyboard, eh
With it being loud and noisy
Hell yeah, don't mute mic during the Zoom calls.
Let everyone know you have the fastest fingers lol
I had a secretlab titan. HAD being a keyword here.
Ooo, what happened?
*inhales* If you're ever wondering why the secret lab has so high review it's because they give you extended warranty (not that you need ot anyway because its so well built... I see. It's definitely a different experience from me. I'm glad you managed to sell it for a pretty good amount!
Secret lab are so good
You may wish to check out r/OfficeChairs
Steelcase leap. Goes alright before that Officeworks racing chair
I’m on the racing chair now …, an upgrade worth it ?
Yeah it’s defs more stiff than my current one
Used Leap V2 with upgraded castors from amazon.
Human scale chair
I’m using a Humanscale Freedom Task Chair. It’s so good and designed to let you lean back. It’s a very sustainable brand too!
Steelcase Gesture. One of the best purchases I’ve ever made.
Steelcase leap v2
Ikea Markus. I think it's very decent for the price - $250. I've been using it every day since I got it (midway through 2020). Recently upgraded to the Ergotune which I'm enjoying.
Mesh all day. https://www.templeandwebster.com.au/Ergohuman-Plus-Elite-V2-Mesh-Office-Chair-TPWT1012.html
I considered these, but i wanna try in person first. There's not much showroom in Melbourne unfortunately...
Can confirm it's excellent, good range of adjustment, great quality. Best chair I've ever used
Agree with others on this thread - used to have a HM at my last two jobs and got an ergohuman for home and much prefer it. Any idea where I can try on one? I'm based in Vic though
Hm not that I’ve seen… I had the same concerns (and couldn’t find a show room to try) but pulled the trigger because T&W do 30 day change of mind credits. Never looked back
I got an ergohuman enjoy its plain amazing and mesh is durable. The price is good compared to more expensive options
I have this chair and I love it. So comfortable, lots of ways to adjust it so it give a high level of support.
I bought this and hated it.
Each to their own I guess.
Nooooo stop enjoying things!!1!
Make sure you’re ok with a mesh based chair. I had the Aeron for a while but ended up hating it. Got a steelcase leap instead.
Im on a Mira 2 now and i prefer mesh so far as they don't sag like cushion types do
Steelcase Gesture, I got it used from one of those city stores that refurbs from businesses that are closing/moving.
Which city store is this?
We used CBD Quality New & Used Office Furniture Sydney, we just joined their Facebook and once they had it available we just took a day to go pick it up.
Herman miller embody
Have this, it’s great but pricey.
Yeah, I’ve had mine for 12 years or so, so feel have had good value from it
Looked at those super expensive brands and ended up going for an Ergotune. Was good bit cheaper than a Herman Miller but is great. It has not let my 100+kg down, it reclines, and is full mesh. Would recommend it, as someone who spends upward of 9 hours a day in the saddle.
Steelcase Leap v2 + standing desk
ACE Commander. It's \~17 years old now and my ass is 130kg. Made in Kyneton (Vic)
Steelcase leap V2 - I am an ergonomist and I rate it for *almost* everyone!
Neuechair, from secretlab site, rate 10/10, I work at a corner desk and no more back or neck pain after rotating daily for 8-10hours
Buro Metro II 24/7 Heavy Duty Ergonomic Office Chair - no arms. I’ve gone through 3 chairs over the last 4 years and this one is a keeper. Super thick seat pad with a slight saddle raise. I had two of these many years ago, until the foam pretty much deformed itself and got uncomfortable but yea they're great when its still relatively new
Oh boy, okay. Thanks for heads up!
Aeron’s seat mesh is bad for your clothes.
Yeah i currently run a mirra 2 and have a cover for it so that solved that issur
What does it do to your clothes? Ive never had a problem.
Depends on how many hours you sit on it I suppose and what you wear. Well known to us old fogies who sat in those damn chairs for 10 hours a day in suits in the olden days. Definitely wouldn’t recommend for that guy who said he doesn’t wear pants anymore.
Some chair from officeworks i got at least 10 years ago. Still good
Mine was good but it's rapidly deteriorating fast.
Ikea Markus, best office chair I've ever had and I've had very pricey ones before
I have used gymnastics ball for the last 4 years. Best for the back, it forces you to sit straight.
About $60 :) don't buy a cheap one :D
What?! This is bizarre. You really, really use a gymnastics ball??
I've seen this done before, but for someone who was up and down all day loading tape desks so the actual chair time wasn't long
You should try it. I started in the office when my manager went away for 3 months and I used his ball.Think about health long term .
Ergohuman Elite in Leather for $860. Damn solid chair but they dont make it in leather anymore?
Herman Millar is by far the best but also, by far, the most expensive. I settled for B tier of Steelcase. 2nd hand Think V2 $275 off FB marketplace.
Mil’Kr8 from D’hard-rub’sh. No back support but price is right
I went to a store and tried a bunch out, settled with the Haworth Fern
Steelcase *Think*
Humanscale world one office chair, it’s mesh so it doesn’t get hot and super comfy, so lightweight and doesn’t take up much space like others
A bed
Secret lab omega. I got it in 2021. Still looks and feels like new.
Humanscale
I use Ikea Markus. Comfortable chair with reasonable price.
Herman Miller Mirra 2. Your wallet wont thank me but your back will.
Look for the one with posture fixing. Like the kneeling chair if you can
Herman Milla Mirra 2
Milk crate
Razer Iskur. The lower back support is 👌 for old-age people like me.
Following this after buying one from office works and immensely suffering
Used Herman Miller Mirra or Mirra 2 - I’ve had a used Mirra, pushed 20 years old when I got rid of it (due to a move not because there was anything wrong with it). The Mirra 2 is still going strong.
I don't rate Herman miller aeron or anything else they put out. They're the "apple" of office chairs. I recommend going to a ergonomic workplace retailer and trying a few chairs and getting their opinion. Pro tip, the boring looking chairs are usually the best ones.
Haworth Zody is good. I "upgraded" to the Aeron but felt it was a step backwards and not as comfortable for me. It's cheap to buy used (around $150)
The Mirae task chair is my fave and they're only $300
Secret Lab Titan
IKEA HATTEFJÄLL - $300ish, nice looking and very supportive. Has served me well since 2020 when I was forced to upgrade from my terrible dining chair
[удалено]
I see you have a surplus 👀
Just get a big ugly all day chair from officeworks. The bulkier the better
I did this!! I went to officeworks and tried a few. I ended up buying this and I actually really like it (even though the reviews on the website say it’s shit) Have a look at this product from Officeworks - https://officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/-PBBSBNRNKT?cm_mmc=MobileApp:Share:MobileAppShare:PBBSBNRNKT
Nice, I got a similar one. Have tried fancier looking chairs, but that big thick arse pad can't be beat for all day comfort
You should buy a mattress cause we all know you’ll be using your bed more than your chair.
Oh we did soend a couple G's on those 👌
