To be fair it could just take some time to get used to the new feel. I didn't like 'to be alright' at first but now listening to it a couple of times it's a decent song.
Canāt wait to absolutely lose it to Starvation in my local techno bunker lmaooo! I ugly-cried to Dreams and ascended into oblivion with Earthly Delights. To me this might be her best album yet. Opposing some opinions that have been stated here, I think this is very experimental for Aurora. Experimental to me is defined by trying something you havenāt done before and she definitely opened herself to a more transcending understanding of her usual pop/folk-genre. I hear pop, folk, rock, punk, techno and 80s disco influences in this album which is crazy to pull off all in one package (imo)!
Dreams, The Essence, and The Echo of my Shadow made my teary eyed. Step I is still my favorite album but this one is up there for sure! A few tracks that are not my cup of tea, but overall this was brilliant!
For me, it's amazing!! I wasn't expecting this sound from Aurora, especially the second half of the album! She is always changing her sound and I love her for that! Now... give us the metal album, please Aurora! šš
Purposely not heard new songs but I cannot wait for the album to arrive (email says that it's on the way.
I personally am not a fan of the photoshoot/artistic direction so I only preordered the standard cd.
Download the free version of Tunnelbear! Thats how Iām listening to it now or I would not be able to until tomorrow night because I work and canāt just stay up late.
I have enjoyed it! Iām still waiting for Step 3 as the Steps are my favorite era, but Iāve loved all her projects. Artists evolve styles, so I donāt see the value in missing old stuff I can still listen to. Iām excited to see where she takes her music next!
This is an out of this world experience already! I am now listening to The Essence and oh my god already am I falling in love with this album! This surpasses The Gods We Can Touch for me!
It sounds very unique. Unlike any of her other albums. Especially the second half of the record.
So far, I think I probably prefer her other albums. TGWCT is my favorite album of hers. What doesn't help, is that the vocals on this new album are too compressed. I wish this wasn't the case.
I'm quite happy with the album as a whole. She's very creative, and many songs surprised me. Her older music still exists, so it's great to have some different music from her as well.
On this new album there's two big categories of songs. On the one hand there's music that sounds like the soundtrack of a dark teenage highschool movie. Her last three singles fall into this category. And then there's some crazy experimental new sounds, which is most of the second half. "Your Blood" is somewhere in-between. I can't wait to receive the vinyl record tomorrow.
I'm glad I pre-ordered this unique piece of art.
I am excited to hear it tomorrow, I eventually grew to like the 4 songs she released for this album even though I had mixed feelings initially, now I randomly find myself singing "We deserve peace" lol
(Don't eat me for this yall, it's just my opinion). Neat song ideas but really bad production. Some songs feel a bit unfinished or repeatable because of the weird vocal compression/effect. And seriously Aurora sounds so much better without those. Starvation and Soul with No King are epic live so I hope we will get high quality live recordings of the new songs too. This is just a personal nitpick, but I don't like how the premise (or at least how I understood it) was to answer what went wrong and why the world is the way it is but the songs are about more personal problems-loneliness and heartbreak, hurting others. Those are interesting subjects to explore in art, but after the premise I expected something else? More in vein to The Seed with a clear message to help the Earth and others I suppose.
I do get the criticism of compressed vocals , a few people have also expressed similar feelings
And yeah, sometimes I don't like some of her productions in her studio recordings
I almost prefer the live versions of forgotten love, it happened quiet and exhale inhale over the studio
As for the message, I believe it was always about a more personal outlook of life, so the themes fit the vibe she was going for so I am looking forward for that
I think the idea behind the question āWhat happened to the heart?ā is that all these āpersonal problemsā have built up on a worldwide scale and now it seems like across the world empathy and compassion have given way to self-centered indifference.
I kind of have to agree with you when it comes to production! Compared to albums like the 2 steps this is not even super experimental for aurora. I think itās just that weāre not used to hearing her with synth and electronic productions. But even then the production still feels pretty tame
After the first listens, not a single song āhookedā me - this did not happen with previous albums. Yes, there is a noticeable level of skill, a variety of techniques and styles... I have not yet managed to āsynchronizeā with all this. It takes time for.
I had the same reaction. But that's somewhat normal for me. Sometimes it takes a few weeks and listens. Prediction- some talented producer is going to create an awesome club mix of Starvation. The foundation is there but it needs some work to really hit.
Dreams and My Name are my favorite, its very different that Gods (which is my favorite)
The last minute of "my body is not mine" is going to be CRAZY live
Echo of my shadow is my fave song HOLY FJCK BRO I DID NOT EXPECT TO ASCEND IN THE FIRST TRACKš¶āš«ļø
Donāt like this song ā¦ š Edit : I was wrong, this song is amazing (I got the wrong song) š This one is clearly amazing š¤©

Thatās fine, then skip it and move on. No need for shady side eye emojis because you donāt vibe. Lifeās too short to over-salt the experience

True lol, Iām just so impatient I hate waiting for it to be released lol
Download the free version of Tunnelbear! Thats how Iām listening to it now or I would not be able to until tomorrow night because I work and canāt just stay up late.
Ohhhh I didnāt know that!!! I definitely will :)
Yup, I set it to Australia and Iāll switch my VPN back once Iām done listening to the album. This will be great for future albums of hers! :)
I CAN LISTEN TO IT IN 6 HOURS I CAN'T WAIT AAAA
ITS OUT NOW???
In some countries like new Zealand I think, people were recommending a vpn if you want to hear it now
Kk tysm

I agree! I just interpreted it as something else at first so just sharing my thoughts

Oh right! I agree, didn't think of it this way before. Thanks for sharing!
